yeah, I think it doesn't matter where you eat. when someone else prepares your food you always take that risk. -

yep, will not be eating at the joe anymore when I go to wings games... i'll just hit up cheli's before/after the game -
columbus, minnesota, nashville, st louis, colorado all have cap space and roster spots. likely that kenny is not in on it now that I looked into it

For UFA dman Andy Sutton, looks like it's down to the wire with 2 teams in the West. Deal could be finalized this week. from twitter please let it be us, please let it be us who could it be? does he go to some poop team or a contender. It is well known kenny is looking for a 6th D man

tough to say who would do better, helm does has the speed, but I don't know if his hands will ever catch up to it. Abby has the size to power his way to the net and create space, so it's really a toss up to who would be better as the third line center. As for hudler, only way he score 70 pts is if he plays in the top 6 all year and gets PP time which he most certainly will.
-
well he can score at the AHL level, and he can score a big goal or two for the wings. He has good enough hands and a shot where he could score 15 - 20 goals a year playing with better linemates. miller, eaves, and helm all had 10 or so goals last year and abby has a higher ceiling than all those guys. franzen and cleary didn't score much at the NHL level either until they got a chance.

yes and if everyone outplays modano and he ends up in the press box the 1.25M cap hit and the signing looks awful ala J Will. and if this is the case signing isn't worth it IMO because there is a really good chance this scenario could happen.

i would think detroit would have a chance. doughty is from london ontario so it be like him coming home. Im sure he would be thrilled to come to detroit and pick up where lids left off and play for a great team like the wings. wishful thinking, but if there ever was a guy for the wings to throw a huge offer sheet at it be this guy. Lets hope kovy ends up going to LA

fair enough, but I got 2 negs already for my comment lol anyways I know helm and abby will be a part of this team next year no matter what and im not worried about loosing them. My problem is I don't want modano taking ice time away from our young guns. I hope modano doesn't sign with us but wont be mad if he does. I just wont care and hope he can fit in and do well.
-
yeah I agree with you but I think abby is a better fit on the third line than helm because he has the better hands and shot of the two but that's just from what i've seen of them. there is only a few of us (literally) who think this team doesn't need modano but as I have learned there just no point in arguing with the masses because it's a loosing cause. just do what i do and log on here everyday and hope to see "modano retires" or "modano signs with sharks" threads P.S i would go outside but it is humid and thunderstorms..

Zetterberg is a great leader because he can get his friends to do crazy stuff like this at his wedding: Hi homer

http://blog.mlive.com/snapshots/2010/07/mitchell_callahan_the_red_wing.html "Red Wings prospect Mitchell Callahan has already earned an entry-level contract with the Wings because the Kelowna Rockets forward possesses a spit-and-vinegar quality to his play that the Wings really lack otherwise in their developmental system, with the surprisingly strong and smart 5'10" waterbug embracing and thoroughly enjoying the fact that the Wings want him to crash, bang, grind, bang bodies and/or generate offense on the forecheck, and occasionally fight. DetroitRedWings.com's Michelle Crechiolo spoke to an enthusiastic Callahan--who both scored 20 goals in the WHL last year and ended up with a bloody nose on the last day of the Wings' summer prospect camp by scoring a goal off his scnozz--about his role, and got Wings assistant GM Jim Nill's take on Callahan's progress as well: Just crashing the net hard, playing physical, and you know, stick-up for teammates in the odd fight,” Callahan said when describing his style of play. “I like to do that, that’s what I want to do. I’m not the guy that’s known to score the goals, I want to be the guy that’s known to be the hardest worker on the ice, and that’s what I take pride after ... it’s great to help the team out in any way you can.” Callahan’s plan is to return to Kelowna for the upcoming season, but Nill sees him eventually bringing his grittiness to Detroit to balance out the Wings, who have built their squad around players like four-time Lady Byng winner Pavel Datsyuk. “Every team has a weakness in the NHL,” Nill said. “You’re either really skilled, but you’re not too tough, or you’ve got a great defense, but your goaltender is so-so. So every team has a weakness under this cap system, and Mitch Callahan kind of addresses one of those weaknesses.” Nill duly noted that Callahan spent the Wings' intra-squad scrimmages playing as Landon Ferraro's winger, helping the Wings' most offensively-talented forward in Ferraro generate offense on the cycle: “He’s got good enough skill that he can play anywhere,” Nill said. “But if something happens, you know they’re there to back you up and they’re going to be in the other team’s face all the time.” Again, to me, Callahan plays like a young Dallas Drake, a forechecking forward with superb speed who crashes and bangs on the rush, and just so happens to possess pretty decent hands and an ability to generate offense on the cycle, so...I must admit that I'm giddy that he's so very enthusiastic about doing his job. He's just a great young man as well--he loves working hard, knows that he needs to work harder in the gym than his fellows to overcome his size, and he very actively talks to the coaching staff whenever he needs clarification on exactly where he should be and what he should be doing to play as aggressively as humanly possible during drills." I am pumped for this kid and it seems like he is really flying under the radar. He seems to have chemistry with ferraro too. Maybe future line-mates. Obviously cally is not ready yet and needs at least a year in the AHL to see how his style of play holds up against bigger stronger players. Now to the bolded part My question is why is holland not exploring trades with the likes of miller/rittola/meech to bring in more sand paper? Who knows, maybe he is, but im glad they are trying to address this. Maybe FA isn't the way to go and we will see some trades between now and the end of camp to fill a need. This is not a enforcer thread. Feel free to share your thoughts and ideas. .

could you imagine and ericsson and sutton pairing? the towers off doom. ericsson would play 10x tougher if he had sutton on his side.
-
he plays banged up a lot too and seems to find trouble being at 100% but this could be a great move

TheHockeyNews Just wondering: would Modano & Tampa be a match? Bolts have to fill out their bottom 2 lines & Mike's $ value fits their budget. from twitter it be funny if stevie swoops in and plucks modano lol
-
i'll agree to that, but lets see if gagne can play a full season first.
-
i could still see them trying to land a legit goalie but as it stands now they have 13 forwards and 8 defenseman I think.
-
gagne is injury prone and is UFA after this season. pretty fair deal IMO
-
smith is NOT part of the deal. looks like just prospects. this should solve philly cap issues wow, exellent deal for stevie. matt walker and a 4th
-
depending on the prospects it could be a good deal for stevie

"And, per Kukla's Korner, Ken Holland has no excuse to leave his Blackberry on the kitchen table at his summer home in Vernon, BC while he golfs or naps in his hammock anymore as Ilya Kovalchuk finally signed with the Devils, forcing general managers everywhere to stir from their summer naps and actually get down to the business of negotiating contracts with agents." i knew it! get abby, helm, and a 6th defenseman signed kenny!! knock off the modano stuff
-
i have to question modanos heart and commitment
-
babs is just trying to get into modanos head
-
i really hope if they do offer him it's only a 1 year. then if he still has some gas left in the tank and wants to play give him another 1 year. a 2 year contract could be a huge mistake.
