Nill says the Wings could trade up

i think that latter is the more likely scenario but if it means another tatar then I would be ok with it

if he is anything like when he got sent down to GR I expect 10 fights minimum out of abby this year Hopefully he ditches the shield and works on his technique this summer and gets stronger to use his 6'2 215 lbs frame

    Cap to $59.64 million?

this is my hope and don't forget big E! the thing that is the best about the cap going up is that kenny can fill needs now and not have to worry about going over the cap and still have a million or so left for a deadline acquisition.

    Cap to $59.64 million?

exelby made $1,391,666 last season. I could see him taking slightly less to come to a good team. I also like jay mckee for a 6th D man as well, one of the premier shot blockers in the game. I don't think kenny breaks the bank on a guy like sutton.

    Cap to $59.64 million?

lines with the new cap with plenty of room to add a player at the deadline: YOUR 2010-11 DETROIT RED WINGS FORWARDS Pavel Datsyuk ($6.700m) / Henrik Zetterberg ($6.083m) / Tomas Holmstrom ($1.875m) Jiri Hudler ($2.875m) / Valtteri Filppula ($3.000m) / Johan Franzen ($3.955m) Todd Bertuzzi ($1.938m) / * Justin Abdelkader ($0.850m) / Daniel Cleary ($2.800m) * Patrick Eaves ($0.850m) / * Darren Helm ($0.850m) / * Zenon Konopka ($0.650m) Kris Draper ($1.583m) / Mattias Ritola ($0.517m) DEFENSEMEN Nicklas Lidstrom ($6.200m) / Brian Rafalski ($6.000m) Brad Stuart ($3.750m) / Niklas Kronwall ($3.000m) * Garnett Exelby ($1.100m) / Jonathan Ericsson ($0.900m) Jakub Kindl ($0.883m) GOALTENDERS Chris Osgood ($1.417m) / Jimmy Howard ($0.717m) CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (these totals are compiled using the bonus cushion) ROSTER: 23; CAP:$59.6m; PAYROLL: $58.492m; CAP ROOM: $1.108m BONUSES: $0.000m obviously this isn't accurate and I dont know how much the RFA's will get. Just ballparking it.

    Zenon Konopka

this article I believe was posted today according to the date of it but holland said this yesterday. Even though in the other thread I said I would waste a roster spot on boogaard, I would also rather have knopka as he can play more than a boogaard can because of his defense and faceoffs. Either way, depending on what happens with the RFA's I believe will dictate weather we have an enforcer or not. He just saying that though, there is a list of about 20 guys I've seen in thread here that would be available that could fill the enforcer role. Im sure at least one of those guys will be available for the wings. Edit: I 100% garuntee an enforcer will be available for the wings. It's a matter of if holland has the balls to sign one or not.

    Zenon Konopka

this quote, which is newer, begs to differ. “Ideally, yeah, we’d love to go out and get an enforcer,” general manager Ken Holland said Monday. “But I can’t make one up. We don’t have one in our organization right now, so I have one of two choices. Either I trade for one or I get one through free agency.” sounds like all us pro enforcer fans wish is going to come true http://www.kuklaskorner.com/index.php/hockey/comments/ken_holland_would_like_to_get_an_enforcer/

Holland Looking to sign an Enforcer

while I somewhat agree a guy who can only fight (ala brad norton) are a waste of a roster spot, boogaard is the exception. Who would not want the most feared enforcer on your team? I would definitely "waste" a roster spot on him.

    Zenon Konopka

to get back on topic..... Kenny stated he wants an enforcer. Konopka makes the most sense because he can play defensively, take faceoffs, and play a regular shift. He should come at the minimum, although I could see him getting a slight raise ( but not much, were talking maybe 20k-50k). Seems like he fits the Red Wings mould perfectly. Sure I would prefer Asham or winchester but they will probably be in the 800k - 1.2M range which is a bit to pricey for kenny. I'm really starting to believe konopka will be the guy.

Holland Looking to sign an Enforcer

another holland quote : “Ideally, yeah, we’d love to go out and get an enforcer,” general manager Ken Holland said Monday. “But I can’t make one up. We don’t have one in our organization right now, so I have one of two choices. Either I trade for one or I get one through free agency.” C'mon kenny there are lots of guys out there that can fit the enforcer bill. Konopka is still my first choice because he can play every game and will come at the minimum.

    2010 NHL Draft Thread

TSN Final Draft Rankings Top 75 http://www.tsn.ca/draftcentre/feature/?id=24944 I would be happy if the Wings can get one these players of in order: Mcilrath Watson Bjugstad Howden Merill If the wings hold on to their pick I think there's a real good chance we end up (hopefully) with one of these guys. Interestingly, kabanov is at 43, could he possibly fall to the wings for their second pick? Probably not. In the second round I like Zucker and Martindale, maybe one of them will be around with the 52nd pick.

    Nathan Horton

    Zenon Konopka

how was not signing orr avoiding a mistake?? we ended up with brad may. I love may and what he provided this team but orr is better and would take him over may any day.
  23. redwingfan19

    Zenon Konopka

if kenny is serious about signing a gritty guy that can play this would be the guy I think. Of course asham or winchester would also be nice but they may be out of price range. Konopka made the minimum last season so the wings may be able to get him for the minimum or maybe a bit more.
  24. redwingfan19

    Zenon Konopka

Konopka would be great, but would kenny really sign this guy? lol ASSETS: Comes to play every night and isn't afraid of dishing out punishment. Possesses sound defensive acumen and plays with energy. Can drop the gloves and is also good on face-offs. FLAWS: Is limited in the offensive zone and only suited for a fourth-line role. Must avoid taking too many bad penalties that place him team in a tough spot. CAREER POTENTIAL: Rugged depth forward. sounds like he would fit the system perfectly. I hope we sign this guy instead of someone like maltby.
  25. redwingfan19

    Nathan Horton

if horton is available I would hope kenny would at least inquire about him. Not sure what it would take to get him though. It would probably have to start with filpula + a prospect, maybe ritola..
