Has anyone tried to do a simular statistical analysis with defensemen league wide? I would think it could be quite difficult to show Lidströms superior defensive abilities to show up in the statistics. Correct me if I'm wrong.

He didn't have a terrible camp. He was ok, got some points.
-
That's exactly what I thought when I saw the thread title.

I have and I still didn't hear ´'My english is shorter'. If so, he must have really stumbled on the words. *dunno*

Lidström and his family visited Västerås earlier today. The smallest kid seemed very shy; answering "mnnnn" when asked what his name was. Then Nick talked a little bit about his career and achievements. It was pretty much a basic interview, talking about his great season, that it's helpful it is to play with a lot of Swedes and how great the team spirit are in Detroit. He also mentioned that this is definitely one of his best season yet, also bringing up '02 where he though he played well. Then he said that before he was drafted he wanted to play for Toronto since he was a Börje Salming fan, knowing it wasn't something he should talk about out loud when Detroit got him. But he soon realized Detroit was a good team to play for (obviously since he's been there since). And of course he got the question if he would move back to Sweden and play hockey here. He answered diplomatically saying he would feel how his body holds up when his contract ends and then decide with his family weather or not they will move back. Oh and one more thing he mentioned: Chelios is old. That was pretty much it. I would have stayed for an autograph but I had to leave before the press was through with him. Here's some pictures: The announcer, Curt Lundmark (Swedish olympic coach in 94). Nick steps up on the stage. His family joins him. They answer a few questions. When Nick talks, everyone listens. They give him some weed or something. Happy days. Family foto. Media nabs him. Here is a small vid (about one minute) with Lidström talking. The crowd isn't that large but since this was a in the spur of the moment thing, it's quite ok. (Not 1.4 million though ) Here you can see a segment from the local newspaper. http://tv.vlt.se/broadcast/view/id/46657 Why does every reporter think it's fun to interview kids all the time. He asked three kids how they feel about getting Nick's autograph: -Good -Fun -Good and fun Here is another segment from the regional news. If you see someone with a blue jacket taking a photograp about 40 seconds in, it's probably me SVT news

Yeah I wish. Maybe I can sneak in behind his biggest kids back or something He said a couple of times that he where a little tired from the flight and that he hadn't expected it to be so many people there, so perhaps he had his incognito comfy clothes on.

I've listened to it over and over and I hear, "My reign is sure now." But it's quite hard to decipher, reign could be something else. I can't make it out to be 'My english is shorter now' as people seem to hear. I think the second word he says is to short to be 'english' and I don't hear the 't' or 'er' in short and shorter. Less likely shorter than short, imo. But that might have more to do with the sound quality (And my hearing perhaps).

No problem. And yeah, taxes are a bit high but the women and snaps makes up for it

I don't think it has anything to do with lack of hart. Even though he dismissed it himself, playing sick in the first couple of games must have affected his game, and when you add to that his inexperience in games like these, it isn't a mayor chock that he didn't blow the world away in the final. Just think of how many great players that has been "bad" in their first playoffs.
-
No he didn't say anything about it. If I had though about asking, I could have done so when they let the audience ask some questions. I think I read somewhere that he's going to bring it to Avesta, but I would guess that he might make an appearance in Västerås with it again (Seriously how much time do you want to spend in a place like Avesta ).

Lidström will come to my home town this monday to recieve a little tribute. I haven't been following the cups progress so far but am I right thinking he won't have the cup with him? It seems kinda fast to get it out of the country I'll see if I can get some pictures anyways. (Sorry if this is considered clutter.)
-
He seems to be really proud of that thing
-
It's definatly gonna be something when the players bring over the cup to their home towns. I'm not sure though if they are gonna do something big for all the players at the same time.

I don't know about blasphemy but I sure think you are in the minority here. Zetterberg has been equally important as any player on the team. Taking out any one of Z/Dats/Oz/Lids would really have hurt this team in the earlier rounds. And if you take out the first round against Nashville, where I agree Zetterberg wasn't the mvp, he has been the best player on the team in my opinion with Osgood almost at his side.
-
Yeah that's probably it. If wings loose one or two games, Chelios might replace Lilja again.
-
You don't have to have the C to be a great leader. I believe Dats is one of those players.
-
I can just imagine the Pittsburg players sitting between periods whining how terrible the refs are treating them, how Osgood dives and then draw straws as to who will try to punch Franzen in the head...

http://tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=238916&lid...s=topStory_main This must be the reason. But who cares now. The mule is back!
-
Sorry double post.
-
1. Zetterberg (He just seem to have everything going for him.) 2. Osgood (He's just been great.) 3. Dats (If he continues play great on the road he might very well get it.) . small gap . 4. Franzen (If he comes back soon and scores 1-2 goal a game he might win it.) 5. Lidstrom (Sure is a candidate, but I don't see him getting the nod.)
-
The guys at tsn seem to get the sense from the wings organisation that he won't play in game 2.

Here are some swedish player predictions (notice a trend here, hehe): Borje Salming Detroit 4-3 Mats Sundin Detroit in 5 or 6 Peter Forsberg Detroit Daniel Alfredsson Detroit in 5 Michael Nylander Detroit 4-2 or 4-3 Fredrik Modin Detroit in 6 Henrik Lundqvist Detroit 4-2 Nicklas Bäckström Detroit 4-3 Mattias Norström Detroit 4-2 Bengt Ake Gustafsson Detroit 4-2 Source: http://blogg.aftonbladet.se/18756

I agree. It sounds like pure bull that he would be asking for 3 years. Everything I've read and seen that he have said to swedish media indicates that he will take it one year at a time.

Ok, I'm calling Lilja getting his second in overtime.
