I don't see it that way. We've all seen the NHL propaganda touting the official NHL halographic logo. I, and I'm sure most reasonable people, assume NHL logo = Endorsed by the NHL = High level of standard (or at least a name we can trust). I also assume if you're in a store that calls itsself hockeytown AUTHENTICS, you would get authentic NHL products, not cheap imitation crapola.

I'm bringing this topic back to front because I now have a beef with hockeytown. Last season I bought a Zetterberg #40 hat from the hockeytown inside the Joe. It has the #40 stitched on the front, a small patch with z's autograph on the side, and zetterberg's name on the adjustable strap on the back. On a recent trip to the Joe I bought what I thought was a matching hat, for the same price, from the hockeytown at the joe for my girlfriend. I just noticed this weekend as my two nephews were playing with them the crap they sold me. The new hat is of inferior quality compared to the original, but the thing that really takes the cake (and I'll add a pic ASAP) is the name on the back strap: ZETTERBURG I didn't think I needed to insepct the thing because: 1. Where I was buying it from 2. The official NHL halogram sticker. Someone dropped the ball.

Everything is speculation, however, regardless of the reason there is an obvious drop in attendance, even without the official numbers you can clearly see the empty seats throughout the Joe. The problem is not going to just resolve itself, the organization needs to step up and do something about it. The Joe used to be feared by opponents, now you can barely sustain a "LETS GO RED WINGS" chant.

I'm going to the game tonight and we usually park at hockeytown cafe, eat at cheli's, edoardo, or hockeytown, and catch the shuttle. I know other restaraunt shuttle you to the Joe, but I've never paid attention. Anyone have any ideas for a different experience? Edit: Maybe if we can come up with a good enough list, Matt could add it to the site under attractions to the Joe info page.

The size debate continues. Did the Ducks win the Cup because they're big? No. Gritty? It helps. Team defense, timely goals, and getting into your opponents head (part of grit) are all important to a sucessful Cup run. I saw all of this from this Wings team. If, as every Wings fan claims, the season doesn't start until April, then we're quibbling over nothing. The fact is once Hasek re-signs, this is the team that took us to April. Lang schmang, we have two guys who should be given the shot to step up and fill the "void" on the second line in Hudler (provided he stays) and Filppula. Kopecky is still here (6'3 190 - possibly bigger by now) if you're looking for a big body to throw around. Grigorenko may turn out to be a stud, who knows. In any event, the Wings definately have a team that can take them to April and the loot to pickup some size, skill, or void fillers at the deadline as necessary. Trust in Ken Holland and trust in the team.

Didn't seem to be a factor this year. The only size the Wings lost is Bertuzzi who played 7minutes a night. Kopesky can help fill that void. Markov gone kinda hurts, but I'm sure there's another top 6 physical dman to be had by the playoffs. No worries.

I agree in principle, but there's a mighty drop in talent once you get past Lidstrom (I guess that's true no matter who the no.2 is but you get what I'm saying). I was thinking the same thing. I don't think Holland wants anything to do with the Souray sweepstakes.

Didn't know that, I still think Niedemayer is done, but 3 forwards not named selanne for 5 mil is do-able.

We traded Avery, Kuznetsov (sp?) and picks to LA in 2003 at the deadline for him and he still had another year under contract. We then signed him to a two year contract once that expired.
