    Trade

I know this has been in the news for a while but it seems like something might be done by today. Brian Campbell and Francois Beauchemin seem to be the targets. Lets wait and see if anything happens. Blackhawks pulling the trigger. I wouldn't bother with Campbell his contract is up this season and hes gonna be wanting the big bucks i know they can affored it but either way he'll re-sign with Buffalo I think. I would love to see him in a Wings uniform but i'll just settle with seeing him on my team in EA 08 =)

    Ovechkin signs 13-year/$124M extension

I'm not a fan of this new long term deals that this whole 10, 12, 13, 15 year deals are just plain stupid and it doesn't make any summer free agencys exciting for me to look forward too. 'Ish needs to stop.

great piece of work i must say...its been a long time since i've read an article that pretty much kisses ass to the wings the whole time and completely disses the other team.

    Article on Niederwhiners' Return

Niedermayer's return could spell trouble If you are bored then take a peek at it I found it pretty interesting. This part of the article made me want to keep reading it. This year, it was Niedermayer who decided to skip a large part of the season. What happens next year if Alex Ovechkin decides that since the Washington Capitals aren't going to make the playoffs no matter what he does, he'll play only half the season? What happens if Sidney Crosby decides that the Pittsburgh Penguins would be better off if he were fresh for the playoffs so he won't get involved until January?

If Bettman stepped down as commissioner....

If Gary Bettman stepped down as NHL Commissioner, who would you replace him with? 51% Brian Burke 20% Chris Chelios 10% Brett Hull 8% Jeremy Roenick 7% John Tortorella 5% Sean Avery Imagine Burke the Commissioner of hockey, imagine we win some cups from here on out and he had to hand the cup over to us that would bring a tear to my eye haha BUT I would hate the NHL if Burke ever became commissioner, smart guy but no thank you.

    1996 Red Wings vs Blues

Showing it right now on the NHL network oh how I miss Gary Thornes voice when someone scores (I know someone said that in a previous thread I just have to agree with that one) I get chills everytime Yzerman gets the puck in center ice and just blasts one right over Casey's shoulder. By far my favorite goal EVER by the great Stevie Y. Going back to the thread posted earlier the NHL definitly needs ESPN or at least Gary Thorne back i miss those days and the Yzerman days ps - its about time NHL network finally showed some classic Red Wing games.

Lecavalier almost a Leaf in 2001

Allllllllllmost but no soup for the maple leafs. Sportsnet.ca November 22, 2007 Unbe-Leaf-able missed chance Oh, what could have been for the Maple Leafs. In 2001, they were a mere penstroke away from acquiring arguably the biggest offensive threat in the NHL today, Vincent Lecavalier. Back in '01, Lecavalier and head coach John Tortorella were butting heads and then Lightning GM Rick Dudley decided to explore trade opportunities for his brooding superstar, writes the Ottawa Sun. The Leafs, then under the direction of GM/coach Pat Quinn and assistant Bill Watters, assembled a package of defenceman Tomas Kaberle, winger Nik Antropov, winger Jonas Hoglund and either Brad Boyes or a first-round draft pick in 2002. The deal was good enough for Dudley to approach upper management, but ultimately Tampa Bay decided to keep Lecavalier. "Our scouting staff, Pat Quinn, everybody was so excited at the time because the deal was pretty much done and the media didn't have a sniff of it," Watters told the Sun's Mike Zeisberger last spring. "It was a deal comparable to the one that brought Mats Sundin to Toronto. Vincent would have been the perfect player to support Mats. And after Mats was gone, this was a guy who could step in and take over." And heres the Ottawa Sun piece. Ottawa Sun Article
