I understand the point that you are making, alot of the star players in the league do not fight you will have the exception like Shanny who would score and was a super star in the league but players like that a few and far between most of your goal scores are usually on the smaller size. Look at last nights game with all the crap that went on on the ice do you think that if Downey was in the lineup that half that crap would have been going on, I dont just the presence of a some one willing to hold players accountable will curb alot of cheap shots

Why would you want star players to bust up there hands when you pay a goon to take care of that problem, plus an enforcer may only have to fight once in awhile, once he lays down the law the cheap shots will slow down and just having him on the bench would help keep it inline ( I could not even think of Dats taking on some one like Pronger, that would be suicide for Dats)

Thats yet to be seen, my main point is that the Wings need an enforcer that can also put the puck in the net , plain and simple I am sick of seeing Dats ,Z ,Huds, and Homer being run at every shift they are on the ice, its needs to stop before one of are stars is down with a serious injury from some goon taking liberties.

The main reason fighting is needed is to protect your star players with what was once called an enforcer does anybody think Stevie Y would have been around as long as he was without Probie Kocur and Mac to protect him, Kenny Holland needs to wake up and get a real enforcer in hear before we lose one of are young stars of now, Downey is not the answer maybe it will be Mac who knows , we need an enforcer in Detroit!

Good morning, I saw the hit on replay and there is no way that it was an intent injur it looked like to me that Kolvuchuk went to move out of the way and his knee was left in a bad position, what bothers me more about this is the fact that an Atlanta player went after the player that caused the injury to hold him accountable and the lines men stepped in and the league wonders why there are so many cheap shots in the league.
