Cap to $52 million next season?

na i dont think we'll ever have like a 70-80 million cap where teams like the wings can just get anyone , i think the highest it might go is between 55 to 60 .........its just going up a significant amount now cause it was too low before but it'll stable out i believe , no way we'lll have 70 million caps , the nhl aint the nfl ........and you guys are talking about how if the cap goes up its good news for the wings ..........if it goes up then players salarys go up as well , so it wont really matter that much

anyone know the exact amount of contracts we got ?

i guess maybe its cause they liked better our prospects for next year that we gotta sign June 1, 2008: Sergei Kolosov, Anton Axelsson, Dick Axelsson, Daniel Larsson, Logan Pyett kolosov is a big physical d man , pyett is smaller but an offensive defensemen, anton axelsson is a penalty killer like his brother pj, larsson has the potential to be a really good goalie, and dick axelsson is a goal scorer , if it was up to me id sign all 5 next year

Pronger at it again: elbow to McAmmond's head

well just like the wings series , the fact that the refs missed the call again should be the reason he gets 1 game , the league keeps saying how they wanna stop those hits in the game well they gotta make guys know they mean it , especially assholes like pronger who keep doing the same thing repeatedly

you shouldnt intentionally be takin shots to someones head, watch tomorrow hes gonna talk about how its physics and its cause hes shorter then he is lmfao ......whats funny is during the 2nd intermission they were talking about how next season they were gonna call penalties on any shot to the head

    AJ Thelen Goes Unsigned

Thelen is now an unrestricted free agent and has already generated interest from the Vancouver Canucks, Calgary Flames and Edmonton Oilers. k i just saw that on tsn, they must of updated it .............canucks and oilers huh ? lol ...........i hope the wings make a push, since he played in michigan before we might have a chance

    AJ Thelen Goes Unsigned

im sure he would change his ways here , plus he got caught for under age drinking ? big deal ! who hasnt drank before there 21 in the states .........i would definetly draft the guy, if not the 1st round then the 3rd if were lucky and hes still in , hes 6'3 212pds and 21 yrs old which means hes closer to making it to the nhl then another guy we'd pick , plus he played in michigan before so it might help him out if he came here .........heres his whl page http://whl.ca/en/stats/player.php?id=23221 and heres his page on hockeysfuture with the wild , they had him listed as their 7th pick http://www.hockeysfuture.com/prospects/a.j._thelen it most likely wont happen but if we took him with the 27th pick i wouldnt be pissed at all

    Holland making Schneider a priority

did you ever consider the fact that maybe the reason hes had his 2 best seasons in his career is cause hes with the wings ??Having him here another 4 years is abig deal , we dont need 3 defensemen aged 40-50 in our team in a few years , that slows down the progress of our younger d, chelios and lidstrom is more then enough , and yes lilja had a good run but he did cost us the series and i doubt he will be as good as he was in the post season again, i cant picture him being that good for 82 games , im sure babcock will bench him soon enough.........if the wings resign matty hes gonna get like 4 mill per, and markov is a goner
  14. zetterbergfuturemvp

    AJ Thelen Goes Unsigned

not because he sucks cause he had problems and got caught drinking ( big deal) , i think they just couldnt come to an agreement ......we should go after him , heres the article ....... Wild relinquish rights to former 1st-round pick 6/1/2007, 9:55 p.m. EDT The Associated Press ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — The Minnesota Wild relinquished their rights to 2004 first-round pick A.J. Thelen on Friday after failing to sign him. The Wild chose the 6-foot-3 defenseman with the 12th overall pick in the 2004 draft. He was coming off a stellar freshman season at Michigan State, where he was a second-team All-American. But Thelen ran into trouble at the school and was kicked off the hockey team after being caught drinking underage. He spent the next two years in Canada's Western Hockey League, where he helped the Vancouver Giants win the Memorial Cup. The Wild had until Friday to sign him to a deal or forfeit his rights. The Wild will receive the 42nd overall pick in July's draft as compensation. The Wild also failed to get deals done with two 2005 draft picks, third-round goaltender Kristofer Westblom and fourth-round center Kyle Bailey.

    Holland making Schneider a priority

i agree with you 100% , we need to get more physical in the back end not schneiders stats , plus schneider had an injury in the playoffs ....we dont need 3 defencemen that are 40 or on the verge of being 40 , 2 is enough 3-4 years ?????????? LOLL good 1 , lets have him signed till hes 41-42

Ritola, Ryno sign 3-year entry-level contracts

ya pretty much sucks , dont know why they did that ........i just read this... That 50-man roster limit--which includes every player under contract to the Red Wings' NHL and/or AHL teams, as well as prospects under contract (ex. Jan Mursak, Darren Helm, Jakub Kindl, Cory Emmerton, Igor Grigorenko)--is what limited the Wings' ability to sign "on the fence" prospects like Jeff May and Juho Mielonen. so its pretty much our nhl/ahl teams and prospects so i dont know how were suppose to sign our group of players next season if we gotta keep 50 ?? larsson and dick axelsson are 2 guys i got high hopes for
  17. zetterbergfuturemvp

Ritola, Ryno sign 3-year entry-level contracts

this is probably why they didnt sign more ..........says somethin about having a limit of 50 contracts + next year they should sign larsson, dick and anton axelsson ,kolosov and maybe pyett Both are expected to come to training camp in the fall but could spend another year developing in Sweden. In that scenario, the Red Wings are on the hook for the players' signing bonuses, but the European clubs would likely pay at least a large portion of the players' salaries. A year of the contracts would elapse, but the Red Wings would be spared hefty IIHF transfer fees. The Red Wings are entering into the signing of Europeans cautiously under the new collective bargaining agreement. Because of a 50-man contract limit, signing too many Europeans for overseas development leaves fewer contracts for filling out minor-league rosters.

Ritola, Ryno sign 3-year entry-level contracts

yup Ryno, Ritola sign contracts Talented Swedish duo en route, eight others set free ... The Detroit Red Wings signed Swedish forwards Johan Ryno and Mattias Ritola to three-year entry-level contracts on Friday. Meanwhile, they relinquished the rights to eight other prospects: Christofer Lofberg, Jeff May, Juho Mielonen, Bretton Stamler, Andreas Sundin, Stefan Blom, Tomas Kollar and Mikael Johansson.

Ritola, Ryno sign 3-year entry-level contracts

well its official they let go of the other 8 prospects , i was kinda hoping theyd sign at least may (6'2 196pds) or stamler (6'1 207 pds ) , could never have too many defensive prospects and would of been nice to keep lofberg , who knows maybe theyll redraft him in the last round and hope he progress's in the next 2 yrs , i wouldnt be surprised if someone takes lofberg just cause they know our past drafting history and takes a chance lol

Ritola, Ryno sign 3-year entry-level contracts

thats great news ! , now i hope they will sign may and/or stamler .........and i dont anticipate them signing lofberg but it would be nice if they took a chance and signed him since they did believe in him so much at one point i just checked our 2005 draft picks and its too soon to tell obviously , but wow , looks good , 5 of the top 6 are signed 2005 RD NO POS NAME TEAM 1 19 D Jakub Kindl Kitchener (OHL) 2 42 F Justin Abdelkader Cedar Rapids (USHL) 3 80 F Christofer Lofberg Djurgarden (SWE) 4 103 F Mattias Ritola Leksands (SWE-J20) 5 132 F Darren Helm Medicine Hat (WHL) 5 137 F Johan Ryno Kumla (SWE-2) 5 151 D Jeff May Prince Albert (WHL) 6 175 D Juho Mielonen Ilves Tampere (FIN-JR) 7 214 D Bretton Stamler Seattle (WHL)

    should the wings trade kronwall

injuries for one .......5 years might be to long to scare off some teams , maybe if it was 3 yrs instead theyd take him....what you gotta think though is if the wings staff didnt believe in him he wouldnt of gotten that deal , and thats all i care about , there track record speaks for itself , i believe in kronwall the guy has amazing talent , hes just had bad luck with injuries, look at that fluke injury he got in the 1st round of the playoffs , that badluck is due to change and i think in 2 yrs we'll all be saying how we got an awesome deal..............................and as i said before theres no point talking about trading him cause realistically even if it was possible to trade him we all know it wont happen since they just locked him , hes not going anywhere for a while, deal with it
  24. zetterbergfuturemvp

    should the wings trade kronwall

LOL again with this crap ...........you guys are insain, and even if you wanted to trade him you cant cause hes locked up for 5 yrs , no one will take him so please stop with the trade kronwall garbage
