    Red Wings sign Swedish prospect

your crazy dude , how do you think the wings won all those cups and have the players they have now ?? by drafting gems in europe ........fedorov, kozlov, fischer ,konstantinov ...............on the team now lidstrom, holmstrom, franzen, filppula, hudler, kopecky, zetterberg, datsyuk, kronwall ........im sure im missing past players as well how can you not be happy with our drafting ?? you'd rather take a shot on someone else whos canadian or american just in the hopes they end up being good ?? we go after who we like and its worked amazingly well for us and theres no need to change it , and as we saw with the drafting of helm, abdelkader, howard ......if theres someone whos north american worth drafting theyll take them , obviously no draft pick is guaranteed to make an impact but how can you not be happy with some of the europeans we got ?? we got some guys with lots of potential igor grigorenko - yes hes changed since the accident but at one time he was a top prospect , how can you not be excited about him finally coming up ??? johan ryno - 6'5 210 , lots of skill and upside jonathan ericsson - 6'5 218 physical d man , we got him with the last pick of the draft daniel larsson- he played awesome last season in the swedish elite league and now that they traded the other goalie he played mostly with hes gonna get most of the starts .......im really excited about him dick axelsson- hes a pure goal scorer in sweden and hes finally gonna play in the elite league next season if you look closely enough there are players in europe to be excited about , they might not be ovechkin's but what do you expect when you always draft late ?? you gotta forget about the toews and other guys we cant get and focus on what we got , datsyuk and zetterberg werent expected alot from either and look how they turned out, who knows maybe dick axelsson will be a 30+ goal scorer , or daniel larrson will be a lundqvist , be postive man

    Red Wings sign Swedish prospect

sounds like we drafted some grit they'll be up in the nhl before you know it SCOUT COMMENTS "There's more to him than points. That's not really his game. He's a really intense guy on the puck and he bangs and crashes. He's a great puck-chaser." -- Red Wings assistant general manager Jim Nill (January 2006) ... "Abdelkader's in your face. He's a little closer to being ready to play [than some other prospects] with the physical maturity. We had him in at our development camp in July and he was 210 pounds and he could probably carry another 10 pounds and it wouldn't hurt him. He's solid in all areas." -- Nill (January 2007) ... helm SCOUT COMMENTS "He's a gritty up-and-down player and he's quite fearless. He's not afraid to go in the corners, he's not afraid to play in traffic. I'm looking at him as a fourth-line checker. He's a kid who's not going to back down from anything. If you give him some guff, he's going to give it right back." -- Red Wings part-time Western scout Marty Stein (July 2005) ... "He's still in a boy's body. With his character, you just have a feeling he's going to add the strength that he needs. He's a real good skater. It's just a matter of developing physically." -- Red Wings director of amateur scouting Joe McDonnell (June 2006)

    Kozzie a Wing again?

hes not a superstar but he did et 80 pts and 25 goals , im sure he can get 3.5 for 2-3 yrs somewhere in the league , i dont think it would be worth it as much as i like him , we got other young players coming in soon , we already locked up maltby for 3 yrs we dont need to add kozzie at 3+ for 2-3 yrs , id rather we get a big body

    Bargain Free Agent Targets?

wings are always looking for guys who can come in and contribute and be a bargain for the team like cleary/hasek/samuelsson ........which players do you guys think that can come here at a reasonable price and be a good pick up ?? heres my picks ..... 1-jeff o'neill all depends if toronto wants him back but i think he can be had for say 2.250 per for 2 yrs ?? he had 20 goals this year , he had a 40 goal season and two 30 goal season before and if we put him with datsyuk or zetterberg i think he can be a real goal scoring threat that we need ....heres some info ... Age: 31 Height: 6'1 Weight: 195 lbs Shoots: Right NHL Seasons: 10 Salary: $1,500,000 AssetsHas great hands and a lethal shot. Hits everything in sight. Excels at taking face-offs. Knows where to be to score goals. FlawsCould still improve his defensive game. Must show more discipline on and off the ice. Takes too many nights off. Career potentialFirst line winger. 2- eric lindros i know ill get laughed for this one but i think he can be had for maybe 1 million, hes a big big body that we can really really use , adding him along with bertuzzi if he comes back will give us two big bodys, i know lindros had some injuries last season but it wasnt any headshots so thats a good thing , and i know if he plays along datsyuk or zetterberg he can be a good player for us offensivly .....heres some stats Age: 34 Height: 6'4 Weight: 245 lbs. Shoots: Right NHL Seasons: 12 Salary: $1,550,000 Scouting ReportAssetsUnleashes a lethal shot whenever parked in the slot area. Skates very well for a big man. Can still intimidate with his power/speed package when healthy. FlawsSkates with his head down constantly, which has landed him in serious concussion trouble. Doesn't own great hockey sense. Career potentialSecond line center. 3- joffrey lupul ok hes not a free agent but i heard alot of rumors the oilers wanted to trade him cause they were dissapointed with him last season , i think its a real dumb move to get rid of him and as much as i like hudler i think babcock doesnt care for him for some reason , hudler had similiar goals to lupul in almost no ice time so i think if we traded hudler along with meech ( oilers need help on defence) who wont play most likely and i heard he's gotta clear waivers and we all know that wont happen, lupul had 16 goals last season and 28 the season before that , if he plays with dastyuk or zetterberg he can get 30+ ...heres some stats... Age: 23 Height: 6'1 Weight: 200 lbs. Shoots: Right NHL Seasons: 2 Salary: $1,500,000 Scouting ReportAssetsHas a goal-scorer's mentality, creative instincts and unlimited offensive potential. He can line up either on the wing or at center. FlawsMust get stronger and play a better game in the defensive zone. Isn't a great skater, which limits his overall potential. Career potentialTop six winger. thats it guys , what are your thoughts ????? would you take any of those players ? who do you think can be a bargain ??

    Red Wings sign Swedish prospect

nice awesome news i was wondering what was going on cause i noticed a few days ago we had till the 1st to sign some prospects ......ryno will be next no doubt , and im almost sure we wont sign lofberg, but i remember our scout praising him when we got him but he hasnt played too well or didnt get alot of ice time as well ?? not sure on the situation , all i know is lofberg is onlky 20 yrs old and is 6'3 200pds i believe with lots of skill , we got no cap space anymore so were spending less money so id love to see them take a chance and lock him up and bring him here .......but i doubt it besides that i want us to sign the big defensemen ,.......may and stamler

Should the Wings target UFA-to-be Giguere?

just read an article here ........ http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article...P7ifUOtpfNr8%3D and it talks about how giguere and not dominik for another year should be our number 1 priority this summer , this idiot seems to think we can get giguere signed for 5 million per year on a long term deal .......more like 6 to 7 per year anyways what do you guys think we should do ?? id personally rather keep hasek for one more year or get another veteran goalie and split time with osgood , and then bring in howard next season. Also signing giguere makes no sense .....we will have 3 players locked up at 21 million on the team ( lidstrom datsyuk giguere ) .......and then in 2 yrs if lidstrom is still around and producing he can get at least 5 mill per .....so that will leave us 4 players around 27 million (lidstrom datsyuk zetterberg giguere) .......that will totally screw us long term and players who will be seeking raises down the line such as franzen, cleary, filppula, hudler, lebda, quincey and if guys like grigorenko, kindl, abdelkader, helm and other prospects pan out and play well for us then we will be really screwed and have to trade away some of our younger guys ....getting giguere makes absolutely no sense when we got a solid young promising goalie just one year away from coming up what are your thoughts?????

5.75 per year .................LOL ........ridiculous , absolutely ridiculous

    Bargain Free Agent Targets?

i was hopeing we got him at the trade deadline ........but now since we foolishly added maltby for another 3 long years i dont think theres any chance of that happening , we gotta give our youngsters like hudler filppula and now grigorenko more playing time and im pretty sure bertuzzi will be back for a 1 yr deal

    Lines for 2008

i definetly dont think hes worth as little as you think he is , definetly not worth a 4th round pick , sometimes coaches and players dont get along doesnt mean the player is not good .....im sure if hudler was put on a 2nd line on a good enough team he can get 25 goals at least , so thats gotta be worth something more then a 4th line player
  12. zetterbergfuturemvp

    E.J. Hradek on the wings

he's said hes going for the big money now since this is his last shot at the big money and he wants to take care of his family for good with this contract , so i dont expect anything lower then 5 mill per

    Lines for 2008

ya calder is gone and i agree with hudler being gone eventually and i just think its really really stupid considering he got 15 goals with almost no ice time and no real talent on his line , if he played with zetterberg for example he can be a 30 goal scorer ......if he wont come back i say we use him as trade bait for a good young player or package him in a deal for a high 1st round pick if were lucky .......but i wouldnt trade him id LOVE to see a hudler zetterberg hartnell line next season 4th line center ??? LOL thats it ???? thats a major insult to hudler dude , sure hes not big but 15 goals with almost no ice time and no real offensive linemates and alll you want in return is a 4th line center ??? you want that you can go after wayne primeau in the summer, hudler for a 4th line center = no thank you lol
  14. zetterbergfuturemvp

    Lines for 2008

i dont agree with trading lebda , hes been a good asset, got loads of speed , will only get better and more importantly is locked up for a real bargain at 650 k for 3 more seasons , trading him is a no no .....babchuk has been traded a few times now im sure he can be had for derek meech whos ready but wont play here and maybe a 3rd-4th rounder dont agree with zubrus , he sucks and his stats were high cause he played with ovechkin, my friend said he would curse buffalo and play like crap there and he was right

    Lines for 2008

i understand why some of you might be frustrated cause kronwall gets injured but i cant understand how some you constantly trash him , the guys got loads of talent , hes just been unfortunate but thats due to change , if the wings werent confident in his abilities they wouldnt of given him a 5 yr deal , and yes he got 1 goal i think it was ?? but if most of you watched the games youd know it was just due to badluck , he had loads of chances to score the puck just wouldnt go in for him ......kronwall will be a big player for us in the future

    Lines for 2008

what do you guys think about this one........ bertuzzi 3 datsyuk 6.7 holmstrom 2.250 hudler 1.25 zetterberg 2.65 hartnell 3.25 ( hudler can get 25+ in the 2nd line,+hartnell adds a physical dimension) franzen 940 k filppula 710 k grigorenko 850 k cleary 660 k draper 2.1 maltby 888k kopecky 450k samuelson 1.2 ( we'll most likely have to find a team to take sammy or we keep him incase grigorenko tanks) i really love those 4 lines lidstrom 7.6 sarich 2.5 kronwall 3 babchuck 900k lebda 650k chelios 900k quincey 510 k lilja 1 adding sarich and babchuk adds a physical aspect in the back end we been missing and we still keep our puck moving offensive defensemen abilities in tact with lidstrom kronwall and lebda hasek 1.2( + incentives)( assuming hes coming back of course) ozzie 850k total = 46.047 sign bertuzzi for 1 or 2 yrs at 3 mill per sign hartnell 3 yrs for 9.75 sign hudler 3 yrs for 3.75 sign sarich 4 yrs for 10 million trade meech and maybe a 4th to a team in a 3 way deal for babchuck( meech is nhl ready , just not on our team) our cap is only 46 so we got cap space to make moves at the deadline and we can free up more space by a) trading lilja ( my option) b) sending quincey down and keeping lilja c) trading samuelson and lilja for picks ( even better) samuelsson wont likely get traded but its an option ........i think keeping maltby takes up a spot any thoughts ?

Babchuk on the Trade Market Again

he was once a top prospect and for some reason everyone wants to trade the guy is he worth taking a chance on ?? hes only 23 , and im not saying we'll pull an anaheim and get lucky like they did with beauchemin but i think it might be worth a shot , rumoured price is a 2nd round pick .......heres some info on him Birthdate: May 6, 1984 Age: 23 Birthplace: Kiev, USSR Height: 6'5 Weight: 212 lbs. Shoots: Right Salary: $900,600 NHL Seasons: 2 Drafted by Chicago in 2002 (1/21) Acquired in a trade with Chicago in 2006. Scouting ReportAssetsDisplays untapped offensive potential and a big shot from the point. Owns enough physical ability to dominate the back line. FlawsNeeds to round out his game, especially in the defensive zone, since he's still very raw. Must be more disciplined on and off the ice. Career potentialTop four defenseman.

Joakim Anderson our 2007 1st rd pick ?

just found some names on this site http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/news/story?id=2791312 they compiled a list of their top 10 goalies ......these 3 got my attention .....i hope we get at least 1 2. Mark Owuya (Djurgarden, Sweden) Owuya is a very good young goaltender and, in our opinion, the best Swedish goaltending prospect in a long time. He possesses excellent reflexes and his size allows him to take the top part of the net away while down in the butterfly. Despite the limited viewings some teams have had, we would suggest they get to the Under-18 World Championships and circle the Swedish games -- this kid has a chance to be great. NHL comparable: Nikolai Khabibulin, Chicago Blackhawks 3. John Murray (Kitchener Rangers, OHL) Many teams don't even have Murray on their list because he already has been through two drafts, but we don't think he should go through a third without being selected. He has taken the OHL by storm in supplying the Kitchener Rangers with exceptional goaltending throughout the season. He combines tremendous size (6-5) with a good technical base and a pinch of arrogance that infuriates opponents and pumps teammates. NHL comparable: Olaf Kolzig, Washington Capitals 6. Linden Rowat (Regina Pats, WHL) Rowat has been the premier draft-eligible goaltender in the WHL this season by using his size (6-2, 190 pounds), traditional butterfly technique and lightning-quick hands. He has gone through a couple tough stretches, but overall has had a very solid season. A team should be excited about bringing him into its organization in June. NHL comparable: Jean-Sebastien Giguere, Anaheim Ducks

Should the Wings target UFA-to-be Giguere?

ya i never saw him play either except for the few games he played in the nhl ,im just hoping he'll be awesome but i got this gut feeling daniel larsson will be the star goalie in the future....dont ask why lol , just this feeling i have
  20. zetterbergfuturemvp

Babchuk on the Trade Market Again

ya i know dude but deals can be done ......keep the faith lol .......although realistically im sure holland wont even think about getting babchuk cause were screwed with guys like lilja
  21. zetterbergfuturemvp

Babchuk on the Trade Market Again

then we'll find another team to trade for him and then send him our way ......your thinking too much dude lol
  22. zetterbergfuturemvp

Should the Wings target UFA-to-be Giguere?

if we get giggy and lock him long term its basically the end of jimmy howard in detroit
  23. zetterbergfuturemvp

    pierre mcguire .......

just heard him on the radio and said he saw markov once before a game and that he was smoking and that markov told him dont worry i wont tell anyone on tv just radio .....wtf is that all about ????? i dont want a guy whos smoking before games will catch up to him eventually lol if not already besides that he said he doesnt see lang coming back to detroit along with bertuzzi .......wtf ?????? why wouldnt the wings want bertuzzi back ?? and why wouldnt bertuzzi ? unless theres something goin on we dont know about , i just think hes a moron .....plus he said howard wouldnt be ready and he thinks hasek will be back
  24. zetterbergfuturemvp

    Bargain Free Agent Targets?

i dont like samuelsson and i dont think alot of people do , but the year before he had 20 goals .....this season if it wasnt for the injuries he'd have another 20 goal season .....so as much as we dont like him , his stats do say we got a bargain ...1.2 million for a 20 goal scorer ???? im pretty sure you wont find alot of those kind of players with that salary on other teams .......and before you say stats dont always tell the whole picture .......yes i agree , but on the stats board say he was a bargain and about drury and smyth, id love to have one of them but i dont think we'd be able to afford one of those guys
  25. zetterbergfuturemvp

Babchuk on the Trade Market Again

they can always trade with another team to get babchuk for them .......it can be done someone trades a 2nd round pick for babchuk then we say trade a 3rd round pick and meech for example it can be done if we really want it to
