only way we can get smyth is if he gave us a deal , and i could kind of see that happening just to like give it to edmonton but i wouldnt count on it ........and only way it could happen is if we lock up say bertuzzi for 2 yrs 2.5 per .......ryan smyth 5 million per ( no longer then 4-5 yrs) .......and if lidstrom after 2 seasons when zetterberg's big deal will come is if he brings down his salary to at least 4.5-5 million per , i think its still a good salary for a 39-40 yr old lol

i dont really care about his pads that much , its more from the waist up , theres no way his chest and shoulder pads are legal , he weighs 200 pounds but he looks like he weighs close to 300

i seen it on tv a few times that the oilers were dissapointed with lupul this year and they might look to trade him ( which would be stupid) , there pissed at the bad year they had i guess and are looking to make some changes

i think its a huge mistake , i could of taken a 1 yr deal and then getting rid of him maybe but i think it wasnt a bright move, if we keep resigning old players then our young rookies will always make our team when there 23-24 , if they are ready then i think they should play, plus if our young rookies end up playing well enough like we hope, that they will one day be nhl ready we'll be screwed and im sure we'll have to trade jiri hudler to make space , hes already not playing in the playoffs cause hes "too small" so im sure they wouldnt lose any sleep over dealing him We got 13 forwards right ?? ........so far most likely to be playing in the next 3 yrs with the wings are ....datsyuk , zetterberg,holmstrom,draper,maltby,filppula,cleary and franzen will most likely be kept,hudler as well unless hes dealt ......if grigorenko and kopecky end up being the players we all hope they will, thats another 2......and samuelsson if there dumb enough to keep him thats 12 forwards , plus we will most likely sign some free agents ......anyways with all these players in the lineups we'll have no spots and they wont likely play until there older , the only positions where i see more of a chance for our rookies to play are the defense and goaltending positions .....if we still have all those players in 3 yrs then .....our prospects ages would be ....abdelkader 23.....helm 23 .....emmerton 22 .....mursak 22 .....ryno 24 ....d axelsson 23 ......as you guys see the ages are all similar , same as with the others i left out , and theres no way we'd insert 3-4 rookies at once we'd have to bring a few in every year and with maltby being here for another 3 long years then that takes away a chance for abdelkader to play sooner, same with the other young players anyways really sorry for writing so much guys lol , as the topic says guys ..........will we regret signing maltby to 3 yrs since hes gonna take up an important roster spot ?? we all know franzen and cleary will/should be resigned so maltby's deal can hurt us in the longrun

there just gonna go after players and pay them insain amounts of money .....even if those players arent worth the money itll still decline the talent pool in the nhl , if they eventually go down the road ........also depends on the players , cause im sure americans and canadians would wanna play here but if they go after lets say gaborik and offers him 5 million tax free + house and car etc .......it could eventually cause the nhl some problems

if grigorenko plays in the ahl its for 3 weeks , after that he can go back to russia .......anyways im really holding out hope that hes gonna be a really good player and eventually play with datsyuk ..........you asked how maltby alone would affect our prospects coming up ......well i think hes the most expendable player .......no way we'd get rid of franzen and cleary ....id rather have a younger kopecky and hudler , but now since we signed maltby the only way abdelkader and others will have a legitimate shot is if ........grigorenko is a bust ( which i hope to god hes not ) ....if kopecky is a bust .....or if they trade hudler ( which i unfortunetly think is a matter of time ) ......maltby's spot could of gone to helm or abdelkader in 2 yrs , thats why i think 3 yrs is to long of a deal

the owner of the lightning has demanded the gm to lower the cap for next season to 40 million , due to losses so unless they trade one of lecavalier richards or st louis then they wont have enough money to make a team ........i think its pretty safe to say that vinny wont be leaving, and richards getting 7.6 per would be untradeable , so that leaves st louis . would anyone here think about trading for him ?? i know most people here would be like last thing we need is another small player , and im not even sure we should get him cause we have other good players coming up who will need pay increases, but st louis , even though hes small is one of the best in the league, got 43 goals this season and 100+ pts, and hes making 6 million per , a bargain if you ask me.
