No matter how big or how fast or how talented, the team that works harder typically wins the game. And it just so happens that the team that works harder seems to get that one or two bounces that help to swing a game in one team's favor.

We outworked San Jose early in that game last night. We got the best chances. We hit a couple posts and we basically had the best of it. You step off the pedal a wee bit and you get beat.

I'm not big on giving up the ship. We lost that game by a goal. We aren't getting blown out at all. Its a pretty even series just like I thought it'd be.

All we have to do is work hard for 60 instead of 15 or 20 or 40 minutes and get our special teams moving a bit more. When the Wings play a high pressure PK and run at the Sharks we drive them out of the offensive zone and we kill any chance they have of getting their PP going. When we play a passive box they work us over. When we get good puck movement and get guy's feet moving to the net we create alot of chances for Lids and Matty to get the puck on net. But when we don't move and we leave Dats on the side boards trying to find a passing lane to players who are stationary, we get zilch.

Keep the faith my good friends. We haven't played much of our A game and we're right in this thing. San Jose is going to come out hot looking to take that 3-1 lead back to the Joe so I think everyone, Babs and Co. know they have to put their best game together for game 4 or we're likely done.

Work hard for 60 minutes. Move your feet on special teams and you'll create those chances and probably some good luck as well. I for one am extremely excited for Game 4. I think its going to be a hell of a game. And I think that if we win it, we'll win this series.

GO WINGS!

PS: For all the superstitious folk out there (like me) whatever it is you do pre game, do it. Do it religiously. I don't care if your wife wants something or your kids need something or your house is burning to the ground. Do whatever it is you feel helps the boys win!

I wasnt online last night during the game, but did anyone else think the first period was one of the best the Wings played all year? I guess that made the horrific third all that much worse.

I sure thought so. It was the best since the first game against the Flames in Round 1. Fantastic. That is truly why it hurt that much more.

The Red Wings dominated that first period because they primarily had control of the puck for the whole 20 minutes. The game turned when San Jose kept the puck away from the Red Wings and used their size and talent to cycle the puck along the boards in the Wings zone. They were able to sustain pressure, draw penalties, and maybe most importantly keep the puck out of the Wings possession. Another good start will be crucial tonight because if the Wings stumble early, the Sharks will smell blood in the water and go for the kill. Somebody needs to step-up in Game 4 and put the puck in the net somehow, someway. 3 goals in 4 games isn't going to win a playoff series. Go Red Wings!

Ya know what? My take on things is that the Wings are actually playing quite well for the most part but I think the Wings could one small thing differently to win this series: Chip the puck out of the zone, when the sharks start, uh, circling. Better to risk an icing than to give up a goal that came from continued pressure from a turnover. You can start to feel when the Sharks are gonna score when we lose the puck and they use their size to generate pressure and several chances. And when on the pk, just get it out and beware of the Lidstrom Play--the cute little outlet pass to the guy in front of the net: it's harder to do in the playoffs and it has cost us...

Big game tonight! Let's Get the WIN and knot this thing up!
