chrisdetroit 189 Report post Posted April 5, 2008 It looks like it will be San Jose vs Calgary Aneheim vs Dallas Minnesota vs Colorado Detroit vs Nashville That is about the best matchups that we could hope for other than San Jose vs Aneheim. Calgary will play San Jose tough. San Jose is certainly the better team but as we found out before, it will be a punishing series. I would not be surprised to see San Jose get upset. But then again, San Jose gets upset every year. The Dallas of 2 weeks ago would have been a good match-up with the Ducks. Withut Zubov, I'm not so sure. If Turco plays like he did in last years first round, this will not be an easy first round for the Ducks. Remeber the Ducks are without their top scorer in the first round and they can't score much even with Perry. I'd like to see an upset but Dallas hasn't been playing well lately. Minny and Colorado will be interesting. It depends on which Avs team shows up. If the Avs win, it means Ducks and Sharks play in the second round if they both make it that far. Go Avs! Wings and Preds should not be close but as we know "anything can happen". It will be good to not have to spend so much time on airplanes. The Preds will play us tough but they really don't match up to us on paper. If we play like we are capable, we will take this pretty easily. As far as the East, I don't think that it really matters. Opinions? I look forward to this first round. Anaheim will last a little longer than I expected them to, but at least we will probably get to play Colorado in the 2nd round, and San Jose-Anaheim will take away one of the two biggest threats tot he Wings, and hopefully bang up the other. Reds4Life 51 Report post Posted April 5, 2008 I really hope that (F)ucks will be eliminated in the first round. Sharks should probably win over Flames, but Flames could wear them down a little bit. Avalanche vs Wild is pretty close, I don't really care who wins, because both teams are not top teams in the West. I am confident that Wings will get past Predators easily. miller76 463 Report post Posted April 5, 2008 I guess I had been still thinking that San Jose was going to face Anaheim in the first round. Now I am a little bummed. I really wonder if Dallas can handle them in a series. But if Anaheim does win that series, who would they play in the second round? The winner of the SJ/Calgary series? I guess I am just a little confused this early in the morning.

I guess I am just a little confused this early in the morning. If there are no upsets, second round would be Wings #1 - Duck #4 Shark #2 - Wild #3 In all cases, we play the lowest seeded team remaining. That means if: Scenario #2 Shark lose Duck Win Wild wins Wings - Flames Duck - Wild Scenario #3 Shark win Duck lose Wild Wins Wings - Stars Shark - Wild Scenario #4 This would be good Shark win Duck win Wild Lose Wings - Avs Duck - Shark Scenario #5 My Favorite Shark lose Duck lose Minny Wins Wings - Flames Wild - Avs Scenario #6 Shark lose Duck win Wild lose Wings - Flames Ducks - Avs Scenario #7 Shark win Duck lose Wild lose Wings - Stars Sharks - Avs Scenario #8 Shark lose Duck lose Wild lose Wings - Flames Stars - Avs So the only we we can play the Duck in round 2 is if their are no upsets. And the only way we play Duck and Shark in sucessive rounds is if there are also no upsets in round 3. It is impossible for us to play Shark in round 2 Of course there are other scenarios if the Wings were to lose but none of them matter because I will be to angry to care. RedWingedKitten 9 Report post Posted April 5, 2008 (edited) If there are no upsets, second round would be Wings #1 - Duck #4 Shark #2 - Wild #3 I think they re-seed by points. Not by how you fimished in the regular season. RIGHT NOW the Ducks have more points then the Wild. Therefore if there were no upsets, the second round would be Wings - Wild Sharks - Ducks I'm pretty sure thats how it works. Someone correct me if i'm wrong. [Edit] And if i'm right, then there is no posible way of us facing the Ducks or the Sharks in the second round. [Editagain] Looks like i'm wrong, nvm. BlackhawksFan 4 Report post Posted April 5, 2008 I'm pretty sure they don't re-seed.

Duck Guy 86 Report post Posted April 5, 2008 (edited) The first round of the playoffs, or Conference Quarterfinals, consists four matchups in each conference, based on the seedings (1–8, 2–7, 3–6, and 4–5). In the second round, or Conference Semifinals, the top remaining conference seed plays against the lowest remaining seed, and the other two remaining conference teams pair off (unlike the NBA, for example, where the 1–8 winner always plays the 4–5 winner, regardless of who wins). In the third round, the Conference Finals, the two remaining teams in each conference play each other, with the conference champions proceeding to the Stanley Cup Finals. For the first three rounds, the higher-seeded team has home-ice advantage (regardless of point record). In the Stanley Cup Finals, it goes to the team with the better regular season record. The team with home-ice advantage hosts games 1, 2, 5 and 7, while the opponent hosts games 3, 4 and 6 (games 5–7 are played "if necessary"). i think ducks can handle the sharks. They have played good against them in the reg season and i say ANA in 5 or 6 VS DallASS Edited April 5, 2008 by Duck Guy
Nero 20 Report post Posted April 5, 2008 Except Detroit, since we won the Presidents trophy. So we will have Home ice advantage regardless of the seed we play.
