wingsownnhl43 14 Report post Posted May 27, 2008 Not often do fans compliment referees on how well a game was officiated, but i really appreciated how the refs called the end of game 2. As we have seen many times as Red Wing fans, opposing teams tend to get bitter and start to act in a classless manner by taking cheap shots at our players.: (Jamie Maclennan, Mike Ribiero, Steve Ott, and many more). I thought the refs did a great job of controlling this by calling a penalty every time the Penguins took a cheap shot. There's no place for that garbage in sports. You got outplayed, be a professional. Don't take cheap shots on our best players because you are jealous. I thought the refs sent a great message, if you want to play that way, fine, do it shorthanded.
GoWings1905 2,694 Report post Posted May 27, 2008 I thought it was a well-officiated game as well. Ask Penguins fans how they felt about it, and you'll get a different story. Quite honestly, officiating is all about perspective. It's fine when your team wins, and flawed when they don't. Joanette and Watson did do a nice job of controlling the cheap shots at the end though. I'm guessing we all won't be so cheery about the refs for games three and four. O'Halloran will be in for game three, plus Pittsburgh playing at home, plus the constant whining by Therrien and Crosby equals plenty of penalties for the Red Wings on the road.
