JoeBuddy 10 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 I know it's pretty bold, and perhaps ignorant remark to be making so soon after a loss like this, but something in me just tells me that our players along with Babs are not too happy about tonight. All 3 of Pitts goals come off bad turnovers or mistakes by us. Goal 1 - Broken stick by Rafalski (bad luck as he heads to the bench, Stuart comes out), Stuart makes a bad pass (or)Zett doesn't know the pass is coming, and the turnover comes, Crosby scores. Goal 2 - Lilja is checked into the boards, turnover, goal Pitts. Goal 3 - Osgood goes for a poke check and misses the puck, trys to get back into his net and his interfered with, unable to get good positioning, pucks takes a bad bounce off of him and into the net. Those things all combined with the poor play of Stuart and Lilja, a completely missed call on the high stick on Lidstrom which would have given us a 4 minute power play (he was bleeding). Holmstrom missing a wide open net. (Maybe Samuelson wouldn't have scored after but you never know) Very solid goal tending by Fleury, and a not so great effort by our team as a whole and we only lose 3-2. We will be pumped on Saturday and come out guns blazing imo.

RedStormRising 7 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 (edited) So what about game 4? I know the Wings will win game 5 at the Joe... Edited May 29, 2008 by RedStormRising
Casey 145 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 Since the OP said Saturday, I'm sure they meant 4.
JoeBuddy 10 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 Lol.. got a tad ahead of myself. If a mod could change that, it would be appreciated... However not to be a bigger jinx, but if we do win game 4, we will win game 5 I'm positive.
Outsider 42 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 I certainly hope so. The Pittsburgh papers are disgustingly smug tonight, one going so far as to actually suggest that Sidney Crosby almost single-handedly saved the entire NHL tonight. I've seen some over the top BS before, but that is downright vomit worthy.
Outsider 42 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 Oh, and by the way.... TSN is reporting that Homer was seen "limping" out of Mellon Arena tonight. *sigh*

Guest MrSandMan Report post Posted May 29, 2008 While I don't want to predict game 5 at this point, I would like to say that I am feeling very good about game 4. Detroit showed us great composure tonight and after we settled down, we put Pens back on their heals in the 3rd.

Firehawk 305 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 (edited) I'm not worried. The wings came out and controlled the game much like they had in the previous 2 games for about the first 15 minutes of the first period. The wings looked as if they were like "yeah, we're up 2-0 and these guys suck, we can just mosy on through this game and we'll win". I think a loss like that will do wonders for Detroit. I would not be surprised if Detroit shuts out Pitt in game 4, and wins the cup in game 5 (I want them to win it in front of the home crowd anyways, so I am not that upset about this loss). You know, it may sound arrogant a bit, but the pens are only going to get away with what the Wings permit them to. The wings are clearly the better team and are clearly the dominant team in this series when they want to be. It's not often you can say that about a team, that they can dictate to everyone else how the game will go, but in this case it's true. Pitt gave their best effort and still had to hang on for dear life. Edited May 29, 2008 by Firehawk
