FinWing 26 Report post Posted July 22, 2008 Seems to be the typical deal for young players these days: relatively long-term and a bit overpriced but might turn out to be a fair or even good deal for Philly if Lupul lives up to his potential. This guy should be making Sammy money as he puts up Sammy numbers, however again this summer, plus he is younger, has more upside. I just don't think paying a 45 point guy 4 mil a year is a good idea, I mean he is making Feds money, Feds has at least been a superstar, Lupul is a hope to be, he should be making 2.5-3 at most IMO, due to his youth and potential. Based on the Crazy contracts, and Lupuls high potentiol, This could very well be a a steal, even if he just keeps his game at the same level and plays 82 games. As for the "Normal Summer" part, get real. This is the new Norm. Not one GM will stop overpaying when theirs a bidding war. Inflation, and Leauge bottom floor cap come into play more. If you expect this year's prices for FA to be a flash in the pan you are mistaken. I'm sure you'll come up with some witty retort that deals with my spelling, all the while ignoring my points to prove your point, but that won't save that post you just posted, as allthough it is your opinion, almost every bit of information in it is wrong. Good point, didn't really think of it that way, but in the two years before last (granted he isn't a 10 year vet or anything so he was/is developing) he played full seasons and got 53 with the ducks and 28 with the Oil, granted the Oil are not exactly an offensive juggernaut. Interesting thing about Lupul 4th year in the NHL 3rd team. I think in the end this will be a good deal for them, I have got to assume based on strong Loony and weak Dollar that the cap will keep going up and in about 2 years this will look like Dats deal, CHEAP! WOW!!! Good to see you have a mind like an elephant, hold grudges much. The only reason I see the cap not continually going up is the fact that the American dollar (in which the players are paid in) is at a low, the Loony (which supplies over 33% of the league income) is very strong. If the two change places it will impact the cap, and more than likely make it go down. But if you read my last post, I have a feeling you will look like the Asshat (my normal role) in this one.
