San Jose Sharks Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Wilson and Head Coach Todd McLellanannounced today that Trent Yawney, Todd Richards and Jay Woodcroft will serve asassistant coaches on McLellan’s staff. In addition, Corey Schwab has been named as the organization’s goaltending development coach. In keeping with club policy, terms of the contracts were not disclosed.

Yawney, 42, most recently spent the 2007-08 season as a scout for the Anaheim Ducks. He also served as Head Coach of Team Canada at the World Under-18 Championships held in Finland, April 11-22, 2007.

“Trent has a vast experience as a player and as a coach,” said McLellan. “He’s also had some experience as a young head coach in Chicago and I think I will be able to tap into him for his knowledge in certain situations.”....”

Wings hire MSU's McKitrtrick as Woodcroft's replacement

Posted by George James Malik July 24, 2008 09:38AM

A note from the Livingston Daily tipped me off to this little tidbit from the NCAA:

July 23, NCAA.com: Michigan State hockey coach Rick Comley has announced that Damon Whitten will join the Spartan staff as the Director of Hockey Operations. He replaces Keith McKittrick, who joined the staff of the Stanley Cup Champion Detroit Red Wings earlier in the month. Whitten, a Spartan letterwinner from 1998-2001 and an alternate captain as a senior, has coached not only as a graduate assistant for the Spartans, but also as an assistant at Wayne State and Alaska- Anchorage. In his role at MSU, Whitten will be in charge of all facets of the Spartans video operations, as well as all team travel, alumni relations, and will serve as a liaison with the Blueline Club.
