Vladifan 680 Report post Posted October 4, 2009 We just got back from the inaugural game of the Texas Stars (Dallas's AHL team) in a brand new arena and had the time of our lives. They won it with 15 seconds left in OT. Brad Lukowich is on the team, from the Sharks, and assisted on the GWG. Was he injured and just coming back or whaat?,,,, Some of you may recognize some other names although I dont... Garret Stafford, Aaron Gagnon, and Landon Wilson, all who played in Grand Rapids. Anyways, they play the Griffins on the 15th, and OH yeah, we'll be there!

TX Wing 26 Report post Posted October 4, 2009 As a poor college student I am currently weighing the advantages and cost of seeing the Stars take on the Griffins. How is the new arena up in Cedar Park?

Now that Dallas no longer needs the secondary affiliation with GR, its the only way we'll get to see Stafford, Gagnon and Wilson anymore. I never spoke to Gagnon, but Stafford and Wilson are good hockey players and great guys. Even though Wilson was only here a short time last year, he made an impact on both the team and the fans. Vladifan 680 Report post Posted October 4, 2009 As a poor college student I am currently weighing the advantages and cost of seeing the Stars take on the Griffins. How is the new arena up in Cedar Park? The arena is GREAT. It really is an excellent size. I think it holds about 8,000. And it has a helluva sound system. And the ice looked great. They have tickets available anywhere from $9 up to $65. Other than that....! Check out their site at TexasStarsHockey.com. I believe you can only get tickets through Ticketmaster, which is not my favorite way to go. But we indeed had a blast!
Vladifan 680 Report post Posted October 4, 2009 Lukowich is on the nucks now. Nope, he's playing for the Texas Stars. Our newspaper had nice coverage of the game and mentioned that he'd played for at least four other NHL teams, including Dallas. If I didn't say it before, I'm guessing he's a really great mentor for the young'ns.

drwscc 212 Report post Posted October 4, 2009 Stafford was terrible last night. He looked like Lebda, without the speed or offensive ability. He got burned so many times, and made bad passes. Other than that, the team looked great. The arena is very cool, and the game was awesome. Had a blast. I will say though, if you buy tickets through ticketmaster (which is the only way I think you can buy them) just pay to have them e-mailed to you. The will-call line was horrendous, and they're not real quick at the window.

Vladifan 680 Report post Posted October 5, 2009 I was just looking at the program again for this game and Al Montoya (Michigan) was in goal for the San Antonio Rampage. Didn't even realize it till now. Poop! He came up to the Coyotes in April and was in goal against the Avs, and shut them out. He definitely held his own against the Texas Stars even though they lost in OT. Go Blue!
