Jake Ryan 1 Report post Posted December 8, 2009 Wayne Gretzky. Mario Lemeiux. Jiri Hudler. I would consider what you are saying is an unfair comparison. Franzen has a great offensive gift, uses the body occassionaly (especially in front of the net), but doesn't fight. Cam Neely and Brendan Shanahan are both virtually PPG players who fought and are considered icons for both their tough play with the body and their tenacity. He is not the definition of a power forward like those two are, but in my opinion at least fits the bill for the minimum requirement. The whole diving thing doesn't help, unfortunately. Agreed. In addition, Johan has 2 good years of sniping under his belt. Shanahan and Neely maintained their efficiency for longer stretches.
Z and D for the C 712 Report post Posted December 8, 2009 It sucks already that he won't make the Olympics, but it'll hurt the Wings chances of even making the playoffs if he doesn't come back. Making the playoffs? No. Going deep in the playoffs? Yes.
stevkrause 1,247 Report post Posted December 8, 2009 Well, I guess you didn't watch much hockey back then. Fischer was reported to be the 2nd or 3rd fastest guy on the team back in 01-02. It didn't look like it because he was so big, but that guy was a great skater. great skater and fast skater are 2 different things - and no, he wasn't reported to be the 2nd or 3rd fastest guy on the team back then... now you're flat out just making stuff up.... Sergei Fedorov, Kris Draper, Boyd Devereaux, Kirk Maltby, Mathieu Dandenault and Jason Williams were all hands down faster, and there are at LEAST another 3 that could have been argued... get your facts straight. You think a tenacious player like Franzen spend the last few months playing video games because he couldn't skate? Hell no. I'll bet dollars to donuts he was studying fight tapes and working the speedbag. The Johan Franzen that you know is not the Johan Franzen who's going to come back. You are gonna see a complete hockey player. 6'4, 230lbs of sheer ******* dynamite. Strong. Brave. Tough. Sexy. Skilled. Franzen. Next year Franzen will have 90pts and 260 PIM. His sweat will be bottled and sold as an aphrodesiac.

Dude, the announcers mentioned it SEVERAL times during his tenure in Detroit. You probably didn't watch the games back then.

I've been watching almost every game since '87, don't patronize me boy... go back and re-watch some video and educate yourself. Also, "the announcers mentioned it" does not make it fact... period. Jake Ryan 1 Report post Posted December 8, 2009 I've been watching almost every game since '87, don't patronize me boy... go back and re-watch some video and educate yourself. I'm just going by what the announcers said. They said that when the Wings did the skills competition, Fischer was 2nd or 3rd on the team in the event where they skate around the rink. I imagine it was Sergei and/or Drapes that made it ahead of him.
