Per TSN:

HIP SURGERY SIDELINES FLYERS' EMERY FOR THE SEASON

The Philadelphia Flyers announced Tuesday that netminder Ray Emery will be sidelined for the rest of the season with a hip injury.

"Ray Emery will have surgery in the near future to repair his right hip," said general manager Paul Holmgren in a team statement.

"He is suffering from avascular necrosis and will have a bone graft done to alleviate his hip issues. Ray will be out for the remainder of the season."

In 29 games this season, Emery is 16-11-1 with a 2.64 goals against average and .905 save percentage with three shutouts.

He signed a one-year deal with the Flyers last June.

Well hey, that whole Emery experiment worked out for them.

Biron to the Isles actually turned out to be good for them, seeing how DiPietro is more fragile than a pane of thin glass. Too bad for the Flyers, Biron fit in well with them.

yeah, and it's funny when tsn mic's him up when he's the back-up. dipietro is out indefinately now too i think, so the isles are gonna need biron. especially seeing as roloson is old and will probably also need hip surgery soon.

i wonder what goalie the flyers are gonna shop for today...if they do.
