Now with Horton going to Boston and them already having 6 D tied up, this just became more possible...

Kenny, get this move done and I don't care what other move you make this off season and it will be an A+ off season!

Lidstrom-Kronwall

Stuart-Rafalski

Ericsson/Kindl-Boychuk

Ericsson/Kindl

PP:

Lidstrom-Rafalski

Kronwall-Boychuk

PK:

Lidstrom-Ericsson

Kronwall-Stuart

I LOVE that defense...

With Boston moving Wideman for Horton, that clears up the D spot for Boychuck, the question remains can they afford him?

Wideman for Horton is a pretty even salary swap, the B's without a doubt got the better skill in the deal.

The other thought is do the B's sign Boychuck the D-man and let Wheeler go now that they added Horton.

Yea, I just saw that it included Wideman, I was hoping it would be Wheeler... that pretty much squashes this... they'll almost certainly keep Boychuk now

I think with Wideman moving it's more likely that Boychuk stays now. They have tons of forward depth and can afford to lose someone there. Boychuk played the post-season almost solely with Chara, too, so they're pretty high on him. So again... I wish, lol.

I think it makes Wheeler much more available though, not that it fits the need you were looking for in Boychuck, but they will struggle to add Sequin and Wheeler to the current cap hit. Especially if they have to hold onto Thomas's 5mil a year hit!

That still doesn't help us though, I think Wheeler is gone for sure now, but it won't be to us...

I agree Wheeler is not what the Wings need, just stating that the move of Wideman makes him available and basically makes Boychuk a B for a while, he could develop into a top tier defensive D-man, he played great in the post season for them with Chara.

Agreed.... the fact that they moved Wideman pretty much assured that Boychuk wasn't going anywhere...

Wheeler could be a real good pickup for someone and it will be interesting to see where he lands... I HIGHLY doubt he'll still be in Boston with the trade of Horton, as someone will probably sign him to some crazy offer sheet that the Bruins won't be able to match...
