Why were the Sharks only 5th

I understand how why and where the Sharks ended up where they did. And I'm not saying Detriot is a bad team. You don't make the second round of the playoffs usually if you are a bad team. My only point that I was trying to make is that the POINTS and standings don't reflect the Sharks seeding as it would have if the points system was dropped and we just looked at wins/losses(loss reguardless of when). Sharks aren't too stout on the shootout either. During the regular season we joked about how the equipment manager would come out and install a blindfold on Nabby when/if we went to a shootout. IMO it's nothing more than a circus act.

I didn't make any mention about points. If you take the wins vs loses(OT or Regulation), Sharks had a better record than Detriot.

Why were the Sharks only 5th

The Sharks were tied for the second best record in the league. They would be a second seed in the west, right behind Nashville, if there weren't the 3 point games

    Joe Thornton

Joe can score too. He's just so damn effective drawing the D and then finding the open guy.

    Post-GAME 3 (4/30): Sharks 2, Red Wings 1 F

I was sitting there laughing my ass off when Cheech took a spill tonight. I just hung my head and said "Typical Cheech"

Don't you think that the sharks playing puck pursuit hockey and being much more aggressive after the first period knocked the wings off their game? The Wings dominated us in the first and it showed. The Sharks came out in the second fired up and both the D and forwards played a more aggressive and edgier game. It led to goals, turn overs, hits, and penalties. Both myself and the guys that were sitting next to me noticed that the Wings looked tired towards the middle end of the third. Not sure if it was my teal glasses i was looking through or not though. When we got that goal, my first thought was "I bet Hasek wishes he got that one back". Neither of our goals tonight were pretty goals, but it's been said many times over.... Pretty goals are going to be hard to come by in the playoffs. As I said earlier in the thread: Hasek layed it out there and kept Detroit in the game.

Last couple minutes of the game we were all going absolutely nuts. And the noise was up. Wings went offsides. BOOM the crowd exploded again. I hope JLA gets it's mojo back. I love hearing home crowds being loud.

Hey all, I just got home from the game. Detroit played a good game. Our 3rd and 4th line were the lines that made it happen tonight. Hasek kept the game close. my hat goes off to him. I saw a few mentions of missed penalties the ref's didn't call on the Sharks. There were some on the wings we saw as well. Looks like it all came out. Detroit only ended up taking 1 more penalty than the Sharks through the course of the game. How did the crowd noise towards the end of the game come through? The Wings did a great job taking us out in the first.

    ESPNEWS red wings error

Atleast they got the lastname correct. In the first round against Nashville, one of the brilliant Versus announces said "JP Dupont"

    POST GAME - Game 1 (4/26) SJ 2 DET 0

Hey All. Sharks fan here and watned to say hello. I'm not looking to troll. I went through a few other boards first and found this one looks to be the most friendly. Sharks played a boring game tonight. Was nice to see them win, but I was bored by the end of the game even with them winning. Detroit did a good job with the puck posession from second half of the first on. I could see both the Wings and the Sharks seemed to be a little off. I'm looking forward to a good tight series.
