#2427415 is anyone happy right now?

Posted by FlashyG on 05 July 2013 - 03:51 PM

This is the best FA signing period the Wings have had in years.

The Alfredsson signing is a great one, espeically with it being only 1 year with the potential to give the Wings 2 million in extra space next season should he not hit his performance bonuses.

He gives us a top 6 forward with a RH shot who can also help out our struggling PP.

I like Flip and I think he'll probably put up more pts next season than Weiss, but Weiss is a better center and fits the Wings needs better.

Brunner leaving hurts a little, but someone had to go to free up a roster spots for Tatar and Nyquist, either of whom I think can provide his offence, while hopefully upgrading on him defensively.

Now with a glut of forwards I fully expect a trade for a defenceman hopefully someone capable of playing on the 2nd pair at worst or 1st pairing at best.

Maybe just maybe if we had a power play that could score

Score? How about just a power play that can enter the offensive zone?

Wings had two 3rd period collapses in this series but saved them with OT magic. Let's hope they now have those 3rd period cramps out of their system but keep the magic.

TIme out was used so he could eat, not to rest his players.

#2322148 Semin signs one year, $7m deal with Carolina

Posted by b.shanafan14 on 26 July 2012 - 02:29 PM

One year, zero risk. Nothing but upside and instead Kenny is sitting on his $13m, watching Dreger waiting for him to tweet that Doan has resigned with Pheonix. I knew the Wings weren't interested in Semin, and I didn't expect him to sign here, but watching him sign a one-year deal elsewhere burns my ass.

Stagnant offense. Defense takes a huge hit with no replacements.... but hey, we improved our backup :P

#2320837 Another option - Wait for 2013

Posted by joshy207 on 21 July 2012 - 01:31 AM

No. No. No.

Last July, Holland didn't like what he saw going on with the available free agent crop, so he waited for 2012, when Suter, Parise, and a LOT more guys were going to be UFAs. Well, what happened? Most of the quality players re-signed with their teams during the season, so the 2012 free agent pool ended up being very shallow after the top 2 players. And we all know what happened with them. Next year will just be more of the same. Holland needs to find the right moves and act NOW.

#2318568 Holland Content with Current Roster

Seriously.... I even posted the quote. How is it that you are the ONLY one reading it that way then?

He is not. I read it the same way, because, well, thats exactly what it said. That Quincy and Smith will "replace" (the exact word he used) Stuart and Lidstrom.

Oh, and I am not some doom and gloom negative person about this off season, I've been staying positive and hoping for the best, so you cannot attempt to refute MY comment by passive attacks and accusing me of only being negative like you did with him. ;)

Lets give it a rest with the Holland bashing ...

You know what I'd like to see people give a rest? (in general, not just here at this forum) Calling anyone with a different opinion or alternate suggestion a "hater" or "basher"

Those are such lame, overused internet terms. Don't agree with me? Oh, you're a hater then. Post any other comments or alternate suggestion? Quit bashing.

#2308748 Trade Ian White?

Posted by BigWillieStyle on 22 June 2012 - 12:11 PM

White is a known commodity, where as Schultz has yet to play an NHL game. I don't think it would be a very smart move on Kenny's part to weaken even more, an already weak defense, just to pander to some snot nosed kid who demands that he starts for an NHL team. You earn your spot with your play in Detroit. If you don't want to buy into the system, there is not much of a future for you as a player here. This, of course, is just my opinion.
