#2348748 OHL vs. College Hockey Quality?

Posted by St. Michael (the Red Wing) on 29 January 2013 - 09:10 PM

38 games on average not counting the playoffs for the conference or the final tournament for any NCAA team.

Major Junior I'm guessing is almost a 70 game season. Not counting playoffs or the Memorial Cup.

#2347405 Nail Yakupov Goal Celebration.

Posted by Yzerfan1999 on 27 January 2013 - 01:39 PM

Here I thought it was key goals, hits, and saves that made the game exciting, not the obnoxious celebrations afterward.  Maybe that's why the world goes so nuts for European soccer, lots of showmanship over there.

Datsyuk's been lighting the lap here in Detroit since 2002, with no dancing afterward.  Has it seemed boring to you?

Your response didn't address or refute anything i said in my post.  Tying the game with 5 seconds left is not considered a key goal? And no, Datsyuk as an individual doesn't bore me, I said if everyone in the league acted like that, it would be boring. The NHL needs guys like Ovechkin, Selanne, and Yak.  Variety is good, and people are getting poopy about this for no legit. reason.

As for Don Cherry's response to the goal.  Its Don Cherry for gods sake.

Here is Theo Fleury's tweet after he heard what Grapes said.

I do remember Don shaking my hand
after scoring that goal in Edm and him congratulating me. Did an
interview with Ron right after the goal.

#2306973 Is the Stanley Cup really the hardest trophy in all of pro sport?

Posted by haroldsnepsts on 12 June 2012 - 03:43 PM

I dont know if it's the toughest, but it's absolutely the best trophy.

4 grueling best of 7 rounds the players don't get paid for, all for one day with the Cup and having your name engraved on it for eternity.

To me that beats a tiny little silver football trophy any day. :D

The stanley cup is the holy grail for a reason

Did you know that in football the ball is only in motion about 11 mins out of every game? That seems like a lot of standing or "huddling" to me.

The NHL definitely has the toughest season and the toughest playoffs.

I know they probably cannot do it but Caesars Palace would be fitting.

Gordie Howe Pavillion

Red Wings Center

Motor City Arena

JLA Memorial Auditorium

Olympia Colosseum

The Horn and absolutely without a doubt, the boards better make it over. I laugh everytime a national broadcaster or rival teams announcer comments about the "lively boards". They are the most important thing about the JLA in my opinion.

When the Wings get a new arena, please do not sell out. Have a name that reflects the city like Joe Louis, not another arena named after a bank or a feminine hygiene product.

That is all.

Get rid of the goal horn, it's too boring. We need something deep that annoys opposing fans like the hawks predators stars and ducks. Get rid of Karen Newman, she has always sounded awful and isn't Attractive as she thinks she is by the way she dresses. The "new" pa announcer who handles most of the announcements must go too, his voice tone is too high pitched for the job.

And for the love of god. Hey Hey Hockeytown needs to be either refreshed or retired. It makes me wanna sit down instead of cheer and be loud.

I have a few things I would like to see carry over, but I agree with you here. I love the fact its not named after some fortune 500 company or some bulls***. I think naming an arena should be dedicated to someone or something that has meaning to the city or team or what not.

"Without further ado Mike Illitch and co. are happy to anounce the Detroit Red Wings will be now be playing in a new home; I present you AMWAY ARENA!!!"

TOTAL FAIL, I can see it now...

Maybe LCP......Little Caesars Place.

Or

PPP. Pizza Pizza Place
