    Ideally, no or we are probably still watching the Wings play right now. That was my point -- their needs have been the same for years. Granted, top pairing d-men and big wingers don't grow on trees, but Holland needed a better contingency plan on defense than what transpired.

    Agreed. I really do believe Blashill is the overwhelming favorite to get the job though if/when Babs leaves. There's a reason they aren't letting anyone talk to Blashill yet.

    I think Babs is gone and truthfully, I believe it's the best for both parties to move on. Embracing the youth movement anyways. Let the guy who developed them take over.

    Compared to massive expectations, probably. He's still only 20 years old and not any worse off than Tatar and Jurco at the same point. The way Jimmy D went about this is what bothers me more than anything. Let Blashill handle this instead of calling out one of your top prospects through the media.

    It isn't the organization -- it is one man with a history of making unfiltered comments. When has this ever been done previously? I can't recall anyone being put on blast publicly like Mantha.

    What other prospect has a major figure in the Wings organization basically denounced after one season? Statistically, Mantha is basically at the same production as Tatar and Jurco in their first seasons with Grand Rapids. If Jimmy D wants to make this comment after Mantha serves his mandatory four years in the minors, then I get it a little more. I just don't understand the timing, nor need to call out a player publicly. If anyone should do that, it should be coming from Blashill.

    Jimmy D says the stupidest things. Mantha is 20 years old coming off an injury in his first pro season. For a franchise that does nothing but overripe its prospects, I don't get the angle of these comments.

    I have all summer to be mad about the outcome and flaws of the team. Right now I'm just so bummed I don't get to watch the Red Wings anymore. Still stings every year getting eliminated. Love these guys regardless. No more NHL watching for me now. Screw this garbage league. Somebody just take out the Blackhawks please.
