Blashill is a clown. Richards line has been getting eaten alive at even strength against Johnson for two games and they score again. Plus, there are Kronwall and Ericsson looking stellar together as always.

You gotta be defensively responsible to play. Like Joakim Andersson who is -1 in three minutes.

There are plenty of problems. Abby is one of them. He takes dumb penalties and plays 20 minutes per game. Also, Joakim "the PK expert" Andersson didn't kill a second of penalties in the first period where the Wings were short-handed three times. Mantha and Jurco are definitely less valuable, though.

He doesn't know the line between aggressive and stupid. He continues to cross it and hurt the team. Done far more harm than good already tonight.

Justin Abdelkader, everyone. Will still play 20 minutes tonight even though his stupidity cost the team a goal. AA would sit for two weeks if he took that penalty. A GM actually gave Abdelkader seven years. Just think about that.

I think trying the same thing over and over will ultimately cost the Wings this series, but just have a feeling they win tonight. 3-2 Wings in OT and Gus gets the winner.

Why does anything think the veterans are going to be relied on less 83 games into the season? The Wings are clearly going down with that sinking ship. Blash isn't going to wake up tomorrow and suddenly give AA 15 minutes.

Joakim Andersson played more than AA tonight. Luke Glendening played five more minutes than Dylan Larkin. Winnable series being thrown away by this incredibly stubborn organization. Honestly, the decision making and usage is beyond inexcusable at this point. I have never been so frustrated by a team refusing to change their ways. Play the freaking kids. At least if we are going to lose, do it with something to gain in the process. Losing is one thing, but to continue taking this stupid approach of veterans at all cost is ridiculous.

Even if there is some argument for Mantha not playing (which I don't agree with), then why not Jurco over Andersson even? The PK/faceoff line is garbage. The Wings have more than enough guys to kill penalties and Andersson isn't even good at faceoffs. I love how when the Wings called him up it was for "injury insurance", but everyone knew damn well he was going to dress in the playoffs. This organization is a farce when it comes to saying one thing and doing another entirely.

4-1 Lightning. The Red Wings limped to the finish line and are going into the playoffs trying the same exact strategy of running veterans into the ground and not icing the best possible lineup. Crazy thing is this series is there for the taking. I just don't trust Blashill's usage and insistence of playing not to lose.

I think the question you posed is pretty debatable. What has Brad Richards done? Dude can't skate and provided all of 9 goals. Helm has played in the top-six for years and can't even crack 15 goals. I am pretty confident with a larger sample size, Anthony Mantha would be a better option than either.

I will take potential over known commodities given the current state of the Red Wings. It's not like this is the 2008 team and the Wings are in some position to let the kids overripe. Do we need to see more of Brad Richards or Darren Helm in the top-six? Let Mantha get a chance in the playoffs. Who cares if he fails? Riding the veterans to an 8-11 mark down the stretch didn't exactly prove to be a great idea. This is the perfect opportunity to get these guys playoff experience as they become bigger parts of the team going forward. This is an organization that has gotten out of the first round once in the past four years. Eventually they are going to have to alter their approach or they are going to turn people apathetic due to the mediocrity. I think we are already rapidly approaching that point or maybe there for a lot of fans.
