It was one helluva season. At the beginning, I didn't like our chances. Halfway through, I was cautiosly optimistic. By the end, I was a true believer. I'd say more, but other LGWers already said all I could want to say and more. Thanks for the great season RedWings, make sure the next one is even better!

I have to disagree. and take exception to being labeled as ignorant and without hockey knowledge. First, who is to say that Bertuzzi will EVER be at %100 again? He's not exactly fresh out of college. He has been a great player in the past, but that's not today, right now.....and may not be tomorrow. I just don't accept that Bertuzzi will make or break the Wings all by himself. Once upon a time, he was that kind of difference maker, but I don't see it anymore. That I can agree with completely. To boot, Hasek looked terrible at times in the playoffs. wow. Between that and the whole 'missing 2 of the top 3 D men doesn't matter' thing.......just wow.

My petition to free Bertuzzi
LionsAndRedwingsAndPistonsOhMy replied to The Secret's topic in General
I'm probably in the minority here, but I'll toss in my two cents anyways. I don't want to see Bertuzzi re-signed for 3 reasons: 1. We'd have to give up a 1rst round pick if we re-signed him. I just don't see him being worth that price. 2. I just don't think he will ever regain the form he once had. Obviously, this is purely my opinion. 3. I just don't like him. Like Really, Really don't like him. I agree with TheDude.....I think his aquisition at the deadline was a good one to give us some extra grit and toughness, but I think we can do better in the longterm. -
My official Go Senators thread

I can't completely root for Ottawa even though I still have family there. RedWings first, then whoever eliminates the Wings (I'd prefer to be knocked out by the Stanley winners if we have to get knocked out) IF we get eliminated. -
"No Pronger, we still won, Wings are done"

Scratch that negativity, friend. If we lose game 5, we still have to lose one more after that. -

I love the up and down of hockey fans. Tie up a series and the other team is done! *snicker* It's down to a best of three series now, with at least 2 more games to be played. I'm sticking with my Wings in 7 predicition...this series has been so back and forth it's maddening, and I don't see that changing at all! -
I blame Canada. Actaully, I blame the Ducks. Seriously. P.S. LOVE the disposable BS bag, that gave me a good chuckle

I have never been a Hasek fan

Osgood is not now, has never been, and will never be a better goalie than Dom. He is a great guy to have as a backup. I'm not a fan of either goalie personally, but this thread is just completely silly. Give credit where credit is due, the Ducks played a great game last night. -
I'll watch the first part of the Pistons game as well, then occasionally flip back to it during commercials and intermissions of the Wings game. For me, it runs in this order: Lions - *sigh* - Every Game. Wings - Most Every Game, then all of them in the playoffs. Pistons - Occasional until playoffs, then regularly barring conflict with the Wings. Tigers - I watched a couple of playoff games, but I find baseball less interesting than Golf, and I hate golf.

ECF GAME 1 : OTT @ BUF 7:00pm
LionsAndRedwingsAndPistonsOhMy replied to Zeta Power 40's topic in General
I'd rather play Ottawa if we advance to big game, but I've got to pull for Buffalo. The second they said Miller's name in the draft, I knew I'd have to root for them (as long as they aren't playing the Wings). -
Well written, and very enjoyable! I particularly like the use of Duck, without the S. Gave it an authentic feel I give it a big

I like bringback91's post, absolutely perfect. That certainly looks familiar

Why are the Duck fans / press so cocky?
LionsAndRedwingsAndPistonsOhMy replied to Wing Nut's topic in General
See, there it is again! And again! Look familiar? Yet the series was still tied at 2 apiece. We'll see how it all works out in the end. The Ducks are a good team, and so are the Wings. -
That would buy you a vey nice house in a very nice neighborhood in most areas of the state. In my area, a 3,000 sf 4 br/2 bath home with 2 1/2 car garage on 5 acres would run you around 200k-250k, depending on quality.

We're all at home, watching the games, wishing we could afford to go to the games. Just for my wife and I to go.......$350 for good tickets, $15-20 parking, $40-60$ Refreshments, Hourly Babysitting including drive time around $80, gas to get to The Joe around $20. I figured that it would cost roughly $550 to see ONE PLAYOFF GAME. We could fly to Vegas, stay in a hotel, and still have pocket change to gamble for that. It's not like I'm poor, but DAMN!

And yet these statistics over the last 4 years are the important ones: 2005-06 - Carolina Hurricanes 2003-04 - Tampa Bay Lightning 2002-03 - New Jersey Devils 2001-02 - Detroit Red Wings We recognize that Anehiem is a good team......I doubt anyone here would dispute that. Only one statistic REALLY counts in the long run, and until you get that stat in the sheets, it's all just fluff.

LionsAndRedwingsAndPistonsOhMy replied to Wing Nut's topic in General
It just amuses me that you could swap teams and players names in these things, and it sounds the same every time. The Flames and Sharks all had the same thing to say...... Be physical. Wear them down. Don't be lured into puck-possession. Wings are old. Wings are slow. Wings are soft. Blah, blah, blah. We'll see if it works any better for them than the last two opponents, both of which are now getting tee times reserved. -
Good. The underdog role has suited us well! I still have a hard time thinking of us as the underdog, being the 1 seed and all, but oh well.

Attention Wings Fans: Stop being so cocky
LionsAndRedwingsAndPistonsOhMy replied to WingNut199's topic in General
That partly stemmed from the fact that MOST Sharks fans came here to discuss the strengths and weaknesses of both teams in an intelligent manner, and did it respectfully. I haven't seen that from our SoCal visitors. We're allowed to be cocky anyways, this is our board. Most of us recognize the Ducks strengths, but we're too preoccupied by the stream of drivel to discuss it. -
I have been trying to come up with a suitably childish comeback for all of these foolish DuckS fans, but it's too far below me. Luckily for you, your team isn't taking us as lightly as you are. I predicted Wings in 7 1rst round, Wings in 7 2nd round......both times it took only 6. I'm going to go with Wings in 7 again, since that has been so good for me. Every game I dress my daugher in her litte RedWings jersey we win......I bought a 3rd outfit after winning against the Sharks, so I won't miss any games again, and plan to keep up the tradition.
-
Also, they outweigh us by several hundred pounds! They keep picking us to lose, I hope they keep it up, because it's working for us
-
I keep thinking of that show... Are you smarter than a Fifth Grader?.....and the answer keeps coming up as No. We're old, we're slow, we're soft, we're untalented, and we're out-weighed by several hundred pounds. We are royally screwed!
-
I didn't care much for Kronwall personally, he made too many small mistakes that added up quickly. I'd keep Quincey in the lineup instead.....not spectacular, but very solid and composed.....especially considering his age and expirience.

I'll stay with my original Detroit-in-7 as well. This has been a tough matchup, SO much more enjoyable than the first round!
