Holmstrom was off balance and his head may have been a bit lower than normal, his helmet may have been on too loose. The point is that when Pronger hit Homer he led with his hands to his head. When you check somone you don't lead with your hands, use the body Pronger you do way like twice as much as everyone else. Your hands should not be that high. Also it was a check from behind at best it is a 5 minute boarding penalty. It is the NHL and Pronger is the biggest name on the ducks so of course he won't get a suspension. If pronger had done that on Sidney Crosby he may be banned for life but because it was just homer he won't get a thing.

I think the NHL needs to look at this a little closer, I know they downsized the leg pads but I think they need to look at the chest protectors. I know, I know, before you even start "Goalies need the protection, guys shoot harder now". Fine I'm sure there is technology has a way to make it safe and smaller than strapping a Tempurpedic to your chest. I think you can look at the blocker and glove to. Luongo looks huge too is there anyone else?

I live in Western NY so I am kind of out of the loop. If I were there I would definately want to go but what is keeping people away?

I thought it would be interesting to see who everyone thought they wanted to see play better or Setp-Up in the series against the ducks. These are guys that you think can make a difference (not the this guy has sucked list). Also guys that are already playing well need not to step up until they show that they have cooled off. Todd Bertuzzi: I see some signs of better play as of late, He may be the only guy big enough to get in front of the net against pronger and stay there. Kris Draper: I think the 3rd and 4th lines will need to be good offensively as well as defensively Kirk Maltby: Same as Draper Robert Lang: We will need some offense on that second line, even if Lang isn't going to go in the corners or hit someone he should put the puck in the net more. Chris Chelios: He is going to get 20mins a night, I'm sure he is in good enough shape and I think he will take advantage. Let me know what you think.

That's funny i did realize after the fact that I forgot Sammy, easy to do I guess. Like I said I like the Smyth move as well but it's that pesky money thing that's the problem. I think you bring back Lidstrom for 2 more years, this team will play alot different witout him. i think he is definately the center of thier success (shutting down players, PP, PK, Starting the rush, Saving Dom) he does it all. If you don't plan on bringing back Lids I think you need to look at replacing him with another top flight defensmen ( I don't see one in our system currently, maybe Kronwall will develope if he ever finishes a season). I also see what your saying with the draper thing but they wouldn't be a true 4th line they would probably play more than the 3rd line just because of the shut down aspect. I think whatever you do you keep cleary and draper together they work well. I guess we will have to see about Grigs.
-
Well we could argue about this all day. I don't know if you want to put Flip or Hudler on the 1st line yet. THey are still young and have not developed into that player yet. I think you could go with this and be well off without spending a ton of cash. Holm-Dats-Zetts Flip-Perrault-Zubrus Franzen-?-Hudler Malts-Draper-Cleary Need to fit in Sammy I guess we are short a natural center The question mark is that 3rd line center. Grigs will not be ready for that role yet, I don't think you will se much of him next year. Maybe Kopecky will be ready to play but I don't know if that helps you any more. Perrault and Zubrus are just suggestions, I like the idea of Smyth too but I can't imagine having a successful team with 20 million tied up in 3 players. Plus I want them to be sure they can get Zetts locked up before he hits FA.

You make a good point with Datsyuk but he is a different player than Nagy, and Nagy didn't do anything not just scoring.
-
Nagy was a flop for Dallas in the playoffs, he disappeared. We don't need anyone like that. Also never ever separate Datsyuk and Zetterberg EVER.

I live here in Buffalo where Zubrus plays now, he is a big body that has been crushing opponents with big hits, using his size to get chances and make room for other players. For those reasons I think he is much better than Lang. I also see alot of Antropov, he is stuck in a system in Toronto that is all grit and no finesse, I think if he were to go somewhere else you might see him open up a bit. I agree with you about Yannic I just thought he would be cheap and a good Second line center. I also see what you say about Zednik, i think he is a character guy I've heard that he has a great work ethic, and from what I've see he has good hands too. Granted none of these are the big splash signings like we are used to the wings making but we have a cap now and I think 2 players at about 90-100 pts total for 5-6mil is better than 6-7mil for smyth whom I think is going to be all about the money this off season and is good for 70-80pts. Or Bertuzzi who most likely will not take less than 4mil knowing that someone will give him at least that, and is very questionable performance wise. Based on this year which I understand ist fair he would only be about a 50 point guy. He has only been over 30 goals twice, and I think we all agree he's not nearly that player right now so I think best case we could be looking at 30goals and 70 points (BEST CASE).

Two words why i became a Wings Fan STEVE YZERMAN I started getting into hockey about 15 years ago when I was like 12, the more I heard about Yzerman the more appealing the Red Wings were. Yzerman was someone to look up to, I think it's great that he was always a Red Wing and will be forever. I got in at a good time just before the Stanley Cups (there for the good times but can't be called a bandwagoneer). Now with guys like Lidstrom and Zetterberg and Datsyuk they are still exciting as ever, the team seems committed to winning every year now (no rebuilding years). Thanks Wings for some great memories.
-
Smyth is going to be asking 6-7mil wa can't afford that without giving up on the rest of the team Bertuzzi is making over 5mil now so i can't see him signing for less than 4mil. He has not shown us anything that makes him worth that, I know he is injured but for 4 mil I don't think you take the chance. Plus his big year was on a line with Naslund and Morrison when they were all on fire. I don't think he fits with Hank and Dats. Go out and sign two second line caliber players to replace Lang and calder (Zubrus, Zednik, Perrault, Antropov, Arnerson, etc). We need depth more than another big name.
-
Two tickets to the sdabres here will run you about 300 - 400 hundred for OK seats as well and everyone say that Buffalo is among the cheapest so I don't think it's too far off. Still I think it is expensive I have only been to 1 game so far.
-
I've pulled a 180 on cleary, before the playoff I would have said he could go. He has shown me a dimension of his game that hasn't been there. If he keeps this personality then he has a place on this team. He's like maltby with better hands and shot.
-
Don't get me wrong aside from a few soft goals he has been lights out and is probably due the conn smithe if the wings get there. But I am starting a petition to tether him to the net so he can't go more than about 6 feet from the net. Maybe one of the bungee cord leashes that some parents have for thier kids or something. In fact he doesn't like the goal stick anyway so maybe we could just take it away.
-
That's why i started with a tether or bungee cord maybe simple is better. Maybe a spring would work nice. He's been great though it's all about fun and saving my health.
-
Excellent Solution i was thinking magnets but couldn't see how it would work. This is good, innovative, I LOVE IT. Let's work on a patent, I'm sure Babs would pay at least 1 mil for it. We could call it the Domagnator (OK that's name is lame got anything better)
-
I agree, he's solid and tough. I think the fact that no one says anything about him can be used as a testament to his stability. He doesn't make the big mistake to give him attention and he's not the most offensive player. He is just SOLID i know i said that about 10 times but it's the best word to describe him. I also think Lilja was good against SJ. He gave us the grit we needed.

The canucks shouldn't have had anything to say, Luongo has as many pads as Giguere. I thought I was watching Sumo wrestling for a minute
-
Is the new lazy and suck thread about dom because that's just stupid. By the way "Can't we all just get along"
-
Ever seen the Amstel Light commercial with the big fat guy playing goal. He just backs into the goal and fills it, then shots start bouncing off of him. Giguere is close to that.
-
I don't anyone in particular is being referred to, people just get too defensive about things in general. If you were to talk about datsyuk I might react too harshly as well (depending on tthe subject matter). The Wings are successful so enjoy the ability to be light about stuff instead of having to figure out why they are out of the playoffs.
-
I was wrong in suggesting that we just take his stick away, he usually lets go of it to make a save but he does poke check so that's a bad idea. Plus he would probably try to play the puck with his skates if he didn't have a stick BAD IDEA!!
-
I'm sure that's what babcock would say too "don't worry about that Thornton Goal Dom or the giveaway to grier you just do whatever you want" You people need to admit sometimes that player have thier good qualities and bad. Dom is a lights out goaltender who is just a winning machine, i mean come on he won a ton with a buffalo team that had Mike Peca as thier big name player, but he does get bored and sometimes will let in a softie or make a bad play with the puck. No one is saying that he lost us a game but it could happen and if you can't see that then you are blinded by your love for him. thank you finally someone who wants to have a little fun here instead of being so serious, God help you if you can't have some fun. Everything in life does not need to be over analyzed or argued. thanks datsyukgrl

I know what you all are saying about that feeling you get when he leaves the net, my but tightens up every single time I think it's going to lead to some serious problems for me later in life
