In '08 I shaved only after each series. In '09 I took it a step further and kept the beard going for the entire playoffs. So you can blame me for the Game 7 loss. Needless to say, I'm going back to only shaving after a series win.

They played just as few "like they should" in the regular season last year... and we ended up in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals. This team will be fine, your ridiculous pessimism aside.

Penguins WALTZ into the Finals, with the entire country picking them to win in 6 games. Detroit flat out DESTROYS them to reclaim the Cup by outscoring them 18-0 in the sweep. Zetterberg wins his second Conn Smythe trophy. Howard isn't even in contention because the Penguins manage only 12 shots in the entire series.

Yeah, I don't think they're trying to say he's not a top goalie. I just think they're saying you can't be CERTAIN he'll perform well in the playoffs - if only because he's never been there before. For the record, I think he'll do fine.

This is just going off of what I've heard in the past, so I'm not 100%. But I believe if you look at the stats on NHL.com, for example, our GAA, GFA and Goal Differential will include shootout goals for/against because they just simply use the final game score to tabulate these numbers. But I think for certain things like the Jennings Trophy (Best Team GA) and maybe even the Goal Differential tiebreaker? and official things like that they do not count SO goals. The reason I say this is I vaguely recall something from '08 with our GAA. On NHL.com our GAA was lower than New Jersey's (I think?) but they infact had a better TRUE GAA then we did at a certain point in the season. We eventually passed them and won the Jennings trophy, but I do believe that was the case.
