guess the occasion was a 5-game easy series where the blues were manhandled by a bunch of hall of famers 0-2 is not the best way to start the season, but i will keep the wings 2002-2009 track record over the blues any day Osgood sucked during last year reg season, I think it may be an issue... I still don't get why we did not get some quality backup, a lot of guys would have signed for the wings for 1 million.. osgood won't last forever, that could be a huge opportunity for a lot of guys... and playing with the RW gives you usually top GAA and SV%, useful if you want to get big bucks after.

Gotta go for Sydney Crosby. Only 22, owned the Wings in the cup finals. Definitely the greatest.
-
come on, NOBODY would resign chelios...
-
the series was not fantastic cause the wings did not play at their standards due to injuries. A Wings / Caps series would not have been better with Dats Franzen Lids etc injured
-
Thinking about it, our top 2 defensemen were playing injured. That's pretty much impossible to win a series without your top 2 D. We can't blame the wings.
-
We should really trade Kronwall + Hudler + Picks against a top D-Man (preferably with no cups) Both of them are overrated and we could be the winning side of the trade. We need guys looking for cups. And not former Pittsburgh guys
-
LGW is consistently a great place to be. And consistency is rare on internet sports forums.

I like Zetterberg's comments That loss will maybe do good to the team on the long run. I saw the wings playing with little passion in some games. Having such a terrible pain makes you start to HATE LOSING The 90's Wings got that after Colorado's losses... The new generation will from this. The new guys will never want to lose again.

HAHA you really think a sweden trip will make us dead for the next cup run ?? I'm rather worried about playing another Ducks series... It would be sweet if they miss the playoffs.
-
That's because we were out of gas. For Wings 2008 cup healthy team, coming back in 30min from a 2 goal deficit was nothing
-
I'm sorry but Osgood did not let terrible GWGs in game 6 and 7... Talbot second shot was great, Kronwall is doing crap, he's the one to blame. Hossa was the only 100% healthy player there. He was supposed to win the cup. Hasek was there for the same reason in 2002. He contributed. This is the difference between a superstar and a choker. Let him sign with the Sharks.

I think the wings had a too classy attitude for this calendar change. This should have been decided BEFORE the chicago series, not after the pens advancing in 4 to cup finals... Lots of respects to Babcock to not mentionning that again after game 7, but still that move by bettman was clearly biased.

The only thing that gives me any comfort...

Don't think game 5 was so good. We just got on the PP for very long minutes. After that Gonchar goal in game 3, wings stopped to shine in these series, and started to be harmless against an excellent defensive-minded team. Pitt played like a western conference team would do against us in quarterfinals. Defense, capitalize on the PP and on wings turnovers. -
It's terrible. What is so painful is that a healthy wings team would have beaten this pens team in 5. Ducks >>> Pens We still have a great shot for next years, but hell the waiting will be long till next year playoffs. I want some great trades by Holland, only thing that can cheer us up now.
-
He's the only wing I am really sad for. All the others were underachievers in the cup finals.
-
I watched Wings/Carolina game 3 2002 recently Holmstrom was a BEAST then, not only near the net, but in every aspect of the game, fast, strong, great chemistry with Stevie and Shanny... He's washed up now. Let him go. He had a great career.
-
We'll not resign him. This guy is bad mojo. He played in great teams, Ottawa, Pitt, Detroit. Never won a cup.
-
Let's just hope the officiating will not ruin the game... Like the Hossa's canceled tap-in... Go wings ! great season. I will be at the great canadian bar in paris to watch the game, if some guys are in france right now, i'd be please to meet you there
-
Holland will not resign Hossa, except if he makes a crazy game 7 (1% probability)
-
Hossa's likely going to score on his own net, after missing 3 breakaway chances. Right now he's chocking more than Robitaille in 2002. Definitely, Zetterberg. The man is stepping up. He'll make the things done.

Detroit is not Washington. Pitt was really lucky to come up with the win in Game 6. If Zett don't hit the post or Cleary don't miss his breakaway, you're not any more on these boards. I think Detroit will win, except if we have really bad luck. Taking game 5 was Pitt's best chance, not this one.
-
Bettman himself wanna bring bad mojo to the wings... if he comes to the Joe with one of those tshirts we are screwed
-
The only reason Pitt would win is it goes to OT. We better have a quick lead just like in game 5. I'd like a Wings/Avs 2002 scenario with all the Wings roster scoring and Crosby crying.

Mule 2 goals 1 assist in 6 games against the pens, far from his >1 pt per game playoffs average stats. I expected him coming big, as he's the main reason we got past anaheim however he's a bit disappointing now... He looks tired and he's just not going crazily to the net any more :/
