Actually I prefer that 3OT loss than a 2-3 loss (which was likely the outcome of the game without that crazily accurate shot from Franzen). During 60 minutes in regulation, our best forward from far was a fourth liner, that is SCARY And during a few streaks, Anaheim top line was embarrassing us so much in 5vs5 that the Wings looked like on a ******* PK We need some line changes. But the 3OT definitely brang us to life. The team was hard working for the first time of the series. We were able to bounce back after that awful Pittsburgh loss. It's still the beginning of the series. Let's win game 3 now.

Everything is better than Sammy in PP But Stuart is a HUGE defensive liability... I cannot count how many huge saves Osgood had to make because of him. Let's trade him at the offseason, we can get better for less money.

Fully agree with Davy Mac (and i am not another account of Davy Mac ) I've watched a lot of Wings games this year and I just never thought that this guy was a key in our roster. Great playoffs guys start to heat up in March before the playoffs Let's compare Hossa VS Franzen March GP G A P Hossa 9 3 2 5 4 6 35 8.6 0 0 0 0 1 0 16:07 29:00 Franzen 13 7 10 17 8 6 60 11.7 1 2 0 0 2 0 18:54 14:2 Hossa was great in October but who cares now ? Registering only 2 assists in 9 March games with Dats, Lidstrom, Rafalski means ZERO chemistry with our top players.

Will Shanahan or Fedorov Retire in the Offseason?
RedWings replied to GMRwings1983's topic in General
If you don't retire Fedorov jersey, forget 13 and 40 He played 13 years with the Red Wings, was extremely valuable in the 3 cups victories (maybe more than Yzerman if you don't consider the leadership aspect) and was kind enough to leave the organization when he went past his prime. On the other way, I would not retire Shanahan. That's what i call ******* exclusive company. With Colorado standards, Joe's rafters would be filled with basically all the 2002 team roster including Robitaille -
Daniel Cleary is giving 200% and back-checks like hell. Are we thinking about giving him a $6-7m contract ? Hossa is highly overrated, concerning playoffs performance. Remember him in the Stanley Cup Finals last year ? I don't want another Thorntorn in a long-term contract. Datsyuk has been dominant. Not on the stats, on the ice. He's the only one (with Franzen) which makes plays on a regular basis. Just pair him with somebody visible on the ice and his assists would be everywhere in the scoring sheet. Zetterberg would come back to his usual level if paired with Pavel. We're playing against a one-line team, we need our two superstars on the first line to match that scary Getzlaf line.

An incredible shot at the blueline. I think he is the main reason Detroit is dominant in the PP for 15 years. Add elite defensive abilities and you maybe have the best defenseman in the history of the sport.

I have to agree with the author of this thread... Hossa is invisible since the beginning of the playoffs. The 2 goals against a 0-3 BJ team do not mean anything. Franzen is ten times more valuable in the playoffs than Hossa for a very competitive salary. I am also disappointed about Zetterberg. He's been solid, but he does not bring leadership to the team. He does not play like a franchise player. I expect him to make plays, not just be a solid 2 way forward who can shoot.

you can't compare Mason and Hiller. Mason will be forgotten forever. Hiller made a first class series, allowing really few goals, and he was peppered all along the Ducks are the only team which can beat the wings this year They don't mind to not control the puck, Strong defense and goalie, strong special teams, and very smart and fast on the breakaways That's a team tailored for the playoffs and they can finish the Wings in 6 just like in 2007. We need top level Datsyuk & Zetterberg, their game against the BJ won't be enough.

Franzen is a fantastic power forward, he crashes the net like nobody in the team... Are you blind ?? Helm is ok to see, fun to watch, but the guy doesn't produce much. He is at his place on the fourth line. I think Draps at his prime was faster than Helm

I think the Sharks played 60 really good minutes, and then the Ducks stepped up. They deserved to win at the end of the Third, and also in OT. This is typically the kind of team which can steal a series. They will win against the Sharks and we better not lose the first games if we play them cause every victory will be hard to get, low scoring games, lots of pressure for Osgood... That would be a scary serie.

it only works when you really mean it works great with Robert Lang for instance
-
what the f*** with cleary ?? never seen him doing anything close to that haha where are the cleary bashers ?
-
osgood's stealing the first period i haven't seen that in last year playoff
-
Ozzie's ******* solid that's amazing, he's having by far his best game of the year, right at the start of the playoffs
-
I'd like the Ducks series to go in 4 The " I want the series to go in 7" argument is usually not relevant for round 1... Teams are not really tired in round 2. That becomes a factor during the conference finals, not before. If anything, we sometimes have upsets for teams who had easy sweeps in round 1, sometimes the long break turns them cold..

This topic would fit better right now on the SJ boards, along with best golf courses where you can see professional shark players...

I saw the pens in the Mellon arena (not against the wings tough) and wished i had a wings jersey... Just to piss them off
-
What worries me is that: - no Wings goalie had such terrible stats for almost 15 years - juicy rebounds are going to be much more dangerous during playoffs - lots of pressure to come as a stanley cup champion defending goaltender let's do like with Hasek last year let him play 1,5 playoffs games, if he goes on sucking play ty

i did not like the Wings efforts in period 2... hope the guys will try to control the puck more in the period to come... Defense is shaky as well...

I was there in 2002, sure !! And after all that time we are finally back in the SCF !!
-
this list is dumb... The 8/2 win against an injured and 0-3 down Colorado was nothing big this year.. I'd put Wings/Avs Game 6 in 2002 in an heartbeart over this one. Game 3 against Vancouver was pretty great also (Lidstrom shoots, scores ! from the blueline !!), with a great Stevie Y 2008 milestones will come soon

I have been watching all our playoff games, and I did not see any opponent playing the trap against us. Nashville played a relatively physical series and defended pretty well, but did not play the trap. Colorado and Dallas were playing like in the regular season, lots of skating, no real protection of the blue line. I don't understand why our opponents are playing us like this. Most of the games looked like regular seasons games. This is probably the worst strategy against the Wings. Wings rock in the regular season type game with their puck possession and all We really manhandled Colorado like no team since.. Blues 2002 ? And Dallas will need to step up because they were just ridiculous in the Game 1... they are playing a pre-season game or what ??? Do you think Dallas will start playing the trap? Anaheim swept arguably the best Wings roster (minus CuJo) ever with the trap in 2003!! The new rules really make the trap impossible ??

solution is simple.. just sell more tickets if after 10 minutes in the 1st period seats are still empty... with a slight discount... plane companies doe oversell for years, why not the red wings organization?? everybody would be happy..
-
I think TSN journalist mismatch with the 2003 series... we were so flat then... Last year we were not far to win the series.. with better goaltending the cup was ours Dats and Zett are on a new level this year and we have a second line, which was definitely not the case last year... Franzen is just crazy. We are going to win the cup.

the guy is the Robert Lang of 2008 he absolutely does not work on the ice... I saw him playing on the 4-4 in game 1... Babcock should never allow that I'd like Malts to replace him...
