    Flames Vs Detroit game 4

Bout time I read something postive from other Wings' fans. It's time to rock n' roll on Sat.

    NO HEART

Alot of this stuff is just a regurgitation of the obvious things that most people would be able to recognize. I keep seeing basically the same posts just from different people. Can't say I blame you though. Who wants to read through everything so that we don't "build on someone else's foundation"? That would just take too much work . Surely there were other aspects of the game we can discuss though? I'm not bitter, I'm just sayin' .... On a lighter note, I think we should all just chill out a bit. I understand being passionate and all, but there comes a point when we can take things too seriously and then we take out all of the FUN along with it. I'm thinking about staying off the boards until it's all said and done ('til Sunday at least).. It's hard to stay excited for your team when so many in your own tribe are being such a downer. It's hockey. No matter how much you love it or worship it, it won't love you back or say thank you; but it will always be there ... at least until the next lockout.

    Post-GAME 4: Flames 3, Red Wings 2

Yup. These little things I like to call, "sarcasti-battles" do us no good. IMO, some of us should probably wait until the emotional aftershocks of the game wear off before getting on message boards sometimes.

The commentators (as well as other boards) have said he got the penalty for diving, not for trying to wack Iginla. Though I think Dom wanted to, but restrained himself at the last second. Really, he could've gotten a penalty for either and I think they just picked one.

Why are so many on here "hatin' " on our own team? Are you guys (or girls) even fans of the Wings at all? Maybe I'm just one of those people who stand by their team no matter how illogical it might seem at the time, but come on ....

I'm totally with you. We should have a lot of faith. The Wings don't suck. With a few tweeks here and there, this series is over in 6 with the Wings on top. We, the fans, just have to restrain ourselves from getting this "loser mentality" where we almost root for our team to lose. Leave that to Philadelphia's sports fans; that's kind of their thing.

Have we not even seen any of the multiple scuffles during this game? I even saw a ref. get punched accidently tonight. They are NOT done. And they very much want IT. I think it's unfair to paint the whole team with the attitude that a few players might have. This is getting stupid. A lot of us are starting to sound like the Boston Red Sux fans before they won the world series. It's not cool to kick your team when they've stumbled a bit. They're not even DOWN yet. This thing is FAR from over.

    NO HEART

I do agree, the special teams are the biggest concern right now. And yes, they DO have heart. We just need MORE from "certain" people. Also, I wouldn't necessarily call ALL of this negativity. You just have a bunch of passionate fans that desperately want their team to win. Sometimes that kind of heart gets in front of your head. I also agree the officiating leaves much to be desired, though I thought it was better tonight than Game 3.

The Wings were playing a lot harder this time around, but still came up short. And the Flames were playing better tonight than they did tuesday; no way around that. I don't know what needs to happen to get this team fired up again, but it needs to happen soon. And I just want to see Hasek play tighter in front of the net. His skating so far out (esp. when Calgary's whole line is in the Detroit zone) is driving me nuts. Something has to jar them. Maybe there just needs to be an all-out brawl to get the Wings angry enough to play like they're supposed to. I think, on the emotional level, the next game is must-win for the Wings if they're going to make it to the next round. They have everything they need to make it happen, they just gotta' put it together.

    Flames Vs. Detroit Game 3

If any of this sounds foolish or totally off-base, please forgive my ignorance as I am still fairly new to hockey (at least the overall knowledge part of it anyway). I could be totally wrong, but here are the main things I thought/noticed about the game: 1. One of the first things I watched (in the 3rd period at least) was Hasek. I think he's great and he definitely IS the man right now (even after the game, a 1.68 GAA in the playoffs so far ain't bad), but I thought that he was playing a bit too far away from the goal. Then, when the Flames would come swarming in, it seemed like he would just hang out there or on one side of the goal a bit too long and it ended up costing us. 2. Yes. The refs were indeed making SOME bad calls, but I think the worst was their "NON-calls". I listened to the game on the net until the 3rd period when I was able to wrangle control of a t.v. somewhere in the house. In that period alone I saw enough hooking, slashing, spearing, and possible interference by the "Flam-ers" to choke a freaking elephant. Sure, the Wings deserve their fair share of penalty minutes but surely so does everyone else. When it comes to home ice advantage, Calgary definitely has the scales tipped in their favor. But then again, the Wings do too (thank God for that) 3. Before the game, I read a few different boards/posts about Lang and his performance (or lack thereof) and couldn't believe my eyes . I live in the south (Alabama) and so I don't get to see too many reg. season games (only caught 1 complete game this year) and so I haven't really been able to keep up (esp. when our router would go out right as I'm trying to listen to the games on the net ). But I made it a point to watch Lang during game 3 and I guess seeing really is believing . 4. Lang's condition seemed to be contagious in game 3 while games 1& 2 were works of art. With the 1st two: the skating was a thing of beauty, shots were well-aimed as well as multiplicitous, and their level of physicality was consistently high throughout; I might even call it inspirational. But they looked like the bottom of the EASTERN Conference barrel in this game or to put it simply: Slow, sloppy, non-confrontational, & truly uninspired (VERY UN-WING-LIKE!!!). The looks on their faces made it seem like they'd have rather been at home watching Desperate Housewives or some "part-tard" reality show than enjoying a preferred beverage from the Stanley Cup. I began to think thoughts like, "Are they TRYING to lose?". They are so good sometimes it almost seems that they have to make a special effort to. Let's hope they don't work THAT hard ever again!!! 5. Babcock definitely needs to (as we say here in hillbilly land), "Light a fire under their tails, put some hustle behind that muscle, and come out in Game 4 ready to STOMP SOME MUD-HOLES IN THEIR .... (I'll let you all finish that sentence creatively ) But when it's all said and done, I just want to see the bloody knuckles of the Detroit Red Wings lifting the finest piece of dinnerware Canada (or whoever it was) has ever produced . "That's just my opinion ... I could be wrong." -Dennis Miller-
