I can live without Florida, Atlanta and Columbus. I would add Phoenix but I like watching Wayne getting pissed too much. Would still like to see the Wings in the eastern conference tho

I was wondering what people here on LGW would change to make the game of hockey better. Most of you amaze me with your hockey smarts. I love hockey but am not as knowledgeable in it. Doesn't mean I don't love the game. A couple things that I would like to change tho are as follows... 1)I would keep the trapezoid but only as a hands off the goalie type of thing. The goalie should be able to play the anywhere on the ice and if he strays from the goal area, he can be fair game, after all he has more padding than anyone else. 2) If you are in a fight and the guy you're fighting takes off his helmet, you must do the same or face an extra minute wussy penalty. Same would go for the gloves. 3) I would allow each coach 1 red flag to use for a review. I would also change the rule where somethings are reviewable and others aren't. If it's questionable, it's reviewable...period. I know some of you will say it will slow down the game but I don't think it has too much in football. I don't think it will in hockey either. At least I hope. Finally...for now...I think the refs should be subject to 10 random game reviews of which they are tested to see consistancy in calling the game. If they fail, they get sent back to the minors until they prove themselves again. Granted it's hard to call a game of this pace without missing a few calls, but over a period of games you can tell if someone is consistant or not. I think for the most part they try to be fair, but if they knew they were being tested, I'm pretty sure they would try to be more consistant. K I'm done...your thoughts?

Any thoughts on who will be the next assistant coach?

Is it possible to have a player/coach? Bring in someone like Sundin, cut his player salary a bit and replace what you took away with a coaching salary. Probably not, just a thought -
I agree all goals should be reviewable. I'm torn on the Avery rule, but yes on the intent to injure 10 game automatic suspension. 2) I have no comment of conference and divisions. I do like the playoffs the way they are set up now...it seems to make the season longer. I really like the idea of airing games on the Fox network, and yes, dont' renew McGuires contract. I think he could play by play some poker games tho. edit: pushing soap box back

We can only dream lol

I have to agree, Helm was kickazz in the playoffs.

IMO I think Dats is just as equally great of a player than Hank, but overall, I agree it should be Hank because he has better communication skills

I agree with most that there's no need to eliminate a Canadien team and tho I voted for Phoenix, because I feel sorry for Wayne, I would rather eliminate Florida and Atlanta, and move the Wings to the Eastern Conference

Honestly, can you be a Redwings fan & a Blackhawks fan at the same

As far as hockey, I am only a Wings fan...now when it comes to the Lions, I do have a back-up to to root for, yet I still have the Lions as my #1....someday hopefully I won't need a backup team in football. -
I try to watch every game, even the late ones on the west coast. The only few I've missed were still recorded on DVR.

I rarely even go to the SI.com site anymore. In fact, I didn't order their tribute to the Wings package, which I really would've like to have, because I don't want the 56 issues attached to it that will rarely cover hockey. It seems they would rather cover a guy spitting into a bucket of spooge from 20 yards than cover hockey regularly. They add to the reasons, along with ESPN the poker network, of why hockey isn't so popular. I've written them a few times and never get answered. Not that I'm that upset over it. I just don't read their mag or watch ESPN anymore, or rarely do, I should say. So if I missed the new spitting of the spooge record, I'm sorry. Maybe it's 25 yards now.

I heard.."Ha Sidney is my ***** now"

What about the Lifetime Achievement. I thought Gordie was great last night. Of course the award will lose it's significance next year when they give it to Crosby. (I'm kidding) Aside from that I would choose 1) Conn Smythe 2)Pearson 3) Selke & Norris I chose these 2 over the Hart, imo you have to be a better all round player to win these.

I think Dats can win more Lady Byngs and still keep up the aggresive play he showed us in the playoffs. He smart and his hits are legal. My only concern is that since he's stepped it up in that department, are there going to be more people out there trying to take him out.
-
I'm just glad they both played for Detroit so to me the point is moot
-
I'd like to keep him but I didn't see him playing like a $5 million player during the playoffs. I don't know, maybe he hasn't totally adjusted to the Wings style of play. I agree with others in saying $4 mil tops and even that seems a stretch to me.
-
I agree and he didn't even mention that MSU won the frozen 4 last year on top of all the other stuff.
-
we don't need him. I'd rather we develop our players waiting in the wings. Rotate them throughout next season and see who earns a spot on the team. I like Ericksson. Cheli is year to year and Lids and Rafs won't be around forever. Markov had his chance and we moved on. There's no looking back.

I think Howard should play... at least 20 to 30 games. If he doesn't step up to the plate then we move on to the get what we need. But give Howard the chance to prove he is worthy of the Winged Wheel. Being from the Lansing area, I'm partial to Miller, but still, Howard deserves a chance to prove himself.
