Agreed, give them a few games at least. I thought they looked pretty good for the first game. Glad to see Drake show Perry how a man plays hockey.

What a Melrose, oops I meant moron. I guess it's the same thing

My man Pavel right after Homer knocks Pronger into the bench

Although I think the wings are the better team, the Ducks are there now and I have to respect that. That being said, I'm still hoping Ottawa takes it in 7 with the 7th going into OT until the next preseason so we can have hockey all summer.

when you have to work late and have the game recording on DVr when the schmuck at the store you're buying beer at says "Did you see the Wings beat Nashville Tonight?" You can barely resist the urge to drop your gloves and punch him.

Hey it all fairness, he did get called for a cross check in game 1 against Ottawa, of course it took 5 whacks in a row before the officials noticed it

I confess, I had to use up my Ducky wipes *edit* first attempt at paint shop

I don't see why they can't repeat '02. Besides, the Ducks have just won 2 in a row, now it's our turn to win 2 in a row.

WINGS RULE, DUCKS DROOL GO WINGS

I was just glad to see the refs not penalize Homey when it was Pronger who tried to slash Homer and missed and went face first into the boards and broke his nose in the 3rd period when we were up by 2 goals. Hope he is okay

I didn't read all the posts so if this was already mentioned, sorry, but, DOES ANYBODY REMEMBER COLORADO IN 2002? Yes we will rebound and tie the series in game 6 and then slap them in the face at home in game 7. All of you with the defeatists attitudes need to look inside yourselves and re-evaluate why your a red wings fan in the first place. Then you will realize that we can do this. I know we can and so do you.

I like where you put Detroit. It'd be nice to play teams in our own time zone for a change. I think a team in Vegas may be risky because if you remove the tourists, it doesn't seem all that large. On the other hand, it could work because of the gambling aspect. I think Seattle and Portland are good ideas also but noticed only 15 teams in the western conf as opposed toi 18 in the eastern. I personally wouldn't mind seeing 36 teams but realistically it will never happen. But if it did to even the 2 conferenses out, I would consider a team in maybe Green Bay, and possibly Alaska or another canadien team. I'm not sure of what provinces are available as I don't know Canada but that would even the conferences out more. Just a thought.

lmao I forgot about that, so is Pronger just a nickname then?

Yes I know about the Lady Byng. I'm just saying that a good defenseman doesn't need to make cheap shots to get the job done. Lidstrom is the prime example. Everyone who plays hockey takes penalties at one point or another. I just feel that if you have to play dirty to get the job done, you shouldn't be rewarded with a trophy. It shouldn't just be about the numbers.
-
It just amazes me how someone with 12 years of experience in the NHL and supposedly a great defenseman would not have control of his arms. Physics my arse. How does someone like this, who can't control where his arms land on a check, become a Norris trophy candidate?

I live in the Lansing area whos local sports would rather cover MSU womens volley ball rather than mention the Red Wings, with the exception, of course of how violent hockey is when Pronger cheap shots Holmstrom. Apparently that was news worthy, but not a clip from a play off game. Like an earlier poster stated, "Hockey owns me" I love the sport and I don't personally think it is important who "owns Detroit" Each sport has it's own following. I for one don't like basketball. I admittedly jumped on the Tigers band wagon last year but hadn't watched a game prior to that since their strike. As far as the Lions" I was born in 58 and haven't seen them win a championship in my lifetime but you can bet, and the same goes for the Wings, I'll be watching every single game possible and rooting for the home team whether they have a winning season or losing season because that's what real fans do. Basically, all I'm saying is to pick your sport/team and support them through good and bad and it won't matter who owns the city.

Just sayin that I seem to notice it more than usual. I never had a problem with the occasional puck hitting a ref in the past, it just seems to be occuring a lot more than usual. Maybe not specifically for the wings but all around.
-
Actually it's 2 on 1. The refs and the Ducks against the wings. Aside from all the bad calls and non goals allowed, the refs seem to be interfering with actual play more than normal. Maybe it's just me but I have seemed to noticed more pucks hitting the refs when the wings are trying to clear that end up back in the Ducks posession in our defensive zone, or plain and simply , refs just getting in the way. It just seems that there is more of this going on than I've ever noticed before. They need to jump higher or just get the "F" out of the way better than they have.

Convince me why I shouldn't be dreading this series....

I think the only thing we have to fear is the officiating. Every time we went to the west coast during the regular season, we were the recipients of bad calls. So, if the officiating is fair, you have nothing to fear. -
You may be right as I quit reading the LSJ a couple years ago, but it does ring true of TV coverage. This is true but you still need the media coverage to get new fans interested enough to go to the internet. Coverage of hockey is lame which correlates with the revenue. One feeds the other. And when did Poker become a sport. I'll never understand that one.

I don't think the Sharks have factored in the physical play the Wings have brought to the playoffs. It's not something they showedin the regular season. Everyone I talked to mentioned how much the Wings have stepped up their game. So you Shark fans, keep underestimating us...WINGS WILL TURN THE SHARKS TO GUPPIES

I live near Lansing MI and the local news channels would rather cover MSU womens basketball than mention the wings. The only reason we get coverage now is because they're in the playoffs. Other than that there's hardly any mention. Same went for MSU hockey too. You never heard any mention until they won the Frozen Four then everyone jumped on the band wagon. I don't even watch the local news or read the local papers anymore. I'm so disgusted with them. I don't care what you say, football coaches not being able to text on the field is not a more important story than the playoffs, but they fellt it was even tho football is in the off season. SI.com is the same way if you haven't noticed. Sorry that was my rant for the day. Just frustrated at the medias lack of coverage for hockey.
