WCF Game 2 GDT: Red Wings 2, Stars 1

Ribiero is a pansy. Almost as blatant as Calgary's backup goalie slash last year, and that got like 5 games if I recall correctly. Still, he'll probably only get a game for it, if that. I didn't think we were all that good tonight, but we won so that's all that matters. Stuart turned it over a lot. Our big guns looked great though. I liked how Drake and Sammy played as well. Too bad about Franzen, let's just hope he can get better very soon. Also, congrats to Helm on his first career playoff goal. I hope we see many more from him, he has been awesome.

WCF Game 1 GDT: Red Wings 4, Stars 1

I had to work, but I was very pleased when TSN texted me the final score. I just saw the highlights, but it looks like getting traffic in front of Turco is a big key to beating him. Looks like Ozzy was sharp again. The argument that Dallas was tired from their last game is stupid. They're lucky they got as much rest as they did. If anything, it's their own fault for letting San Jose fight back to force that Game 6. Really looking forward to Saturday.

WCF Game 1 GDT: Red Wings 4, Stars 1

I have to work (of course) from 4-11 so I'll be missing this one. I haven't seen a game 1 yet and we're 2-0 so far. I must be the reason the team is winning. But really, it sucks. If it goes 7 games, I'll have to miss at least 3 of them. I hate working evenings... I just hope we don't come out flat after a long rest. Go Wings.

WCSF Game 3 GDT: Red Wings 4, Avalanche 3

My god, this team doesn't make it easy for us do they? Exciting game. Osgood had probably his best game so far. Datsyuk and Z looked awesome. Only one goal by Franzen? What gives? Seriously though, the man is unstoppable. I'm glad to see our offense is stepping up when we need it most. At least 4 goals in 3 straight games. Can't wait for Thursday, hopefully it's less stressful than this one.

WCSF Game 1 GDT: Red Wings 4, Avalanche 3

Didn't get to watch this one, but very happy that we won. Atta boy Franzen, keep it up. Looking forward to Saturday (why do we always play Saturday afternoon? It sucks).

WQF Game 6 GDT: Red Wings 3, Predators 0

Our defense has just been dominant in the past two games. Great to see Ozzie keep up the solid play. Can't wait for round 2. I've gained a lot of respect for Ellis in this series. Not only has he played great but I've noticed a bunch of little things he's done that show his sportsmanship. Every time a Wings' player ended up down in the crease when the whistle blew, he'd give them a tap on the pants with his stick. I remember him doing it to Drake today when Ellis had it covered and Drake skated up looking for a rebound. It's just cool to see because it doesn't happen often in today's game. I might be the only one who even noticed but I wanted to mention it. I thought it was also funny how he and Lidstrom had a chuckle at the goal while shaking hands.

WQF Game 5 GDT: Red Wings 2, Predators 1 (OT)

So, was there anybody here that didn't totally see OT coming? As soon as the 2nd period ended 1-0, you just knew they were gonna tie it. Definitely a repeat of Game 5 vs the Ducks last except a much better result. I thought we played a great defensive game. Ozzie was solid, which was exactly what we needed him to be. Nothing spectacular, but he made the saves he needed to. Cleary had a lot of jump today, he looked good out there. Our fourth line looked pretty good too, Mac had some good hits and Helm didn't look out of place. Of course I have to mention Franzen; nice finish on the winner. I'm just so relieved we didn't lose after an all around solid game. Looking forward to game 6, let's finish 'em off so I can make plans for Tuesday night.

WQF Game 4 GDT: Predators 3, Red Wings 2

The refs put their whistles away when we finally could have used them. I think we played okay after the first. Nashville just played the trap for the last 10 minutes so we couldn't generate anything. I agree that Z was trying to do too much out there. Right now more than ever I feel like our top line is the only one that is any threat at all to score. When they leave the ice, I look at the clock and think "okay, how long until they get back out there". I'm glad Datsyuk is producing though, he looks really good out there. Osgood was great. We need him in game 5, I can't take Hasek anymore. I have stood behind him all season, giving him the benefit of the doubt. He always steps it up in the playoffs I thought, this year should be no exception. Well, other than the 1st period of game 2, he has been bad. I have next to no confidence in him right now and I don't think the team does either. How many bad goals has he let in so far in 4 games? I can't even remember them all. I'd much rather have Osgood between the pipes, at least I don't have to worry about 1-2 soft goals a game with him in net. I love that you helped us win a cup in 2002 Dom, but those days are long gone. It's time to move forward with Osgood.

Pierre Maguire is a loathsome human being

I love Pierre Maguire. He's fun to watch.

WQF Game 2 GDT: Red Wings 4, Predators 2

Good victory. It's too bad about that first Nashville goal that should have counted, but I consider it to be even after the horrible diving call on Hasek and that fluky bounce. So far it looks like lady luck is on our side this year. Hasek was awesome in the first, Nashville could have blown it wide open. Other than that, we played a good game all around, especially our defense. It was good to see us driving to the net a lot too. Looking forward to game 4, I'm gonna have to miss game 3. Hopefully we can finish this off in Nashville.

WQF GAME 1 GDT: Red Wings 3, Predators 1

I had to work so I didn't get to watch this game, but I'm happy with the outcome. Great to hear that we sold out the Joe too. Can't wait for Saturday.
  12. adtthosa

    Sellout: yes or no?

To be fair, we are playing Nashville. It's not exactly the most exciting first round matchup. But still, it would be nice to see the Joe full for once. I'd love to come down there, if only I didn't have such a crazy work schedule. Hell I won't even be able to watch a good chunk of the games on TV. Such is life, I guess.

The Wings are Old and Slow

It's funny how we can win the President's Trophy and still get little respect. Some people are even still trying to push the whole "Wings are too soft" angle, which I find hilarious. I have full confidence in our team, with the only question mark being Hasek. He has been horribly inconsistant this year, but he tends to step it up in the playoffs so we'll have to see. But anyways, I should probably answer the original question. I think we have a great combination of age and experience/youth and energy. The average age of our team is a stupid stat to look at, because we really don't have that old of a team. We've got plenty of experience in the back half of our lineup and plenty of youth in the front half, which is exactly the way it should be if you ask me.

can the Predators upet the Red Wings?

This. It may be dry and redundant, but it's true. And as Red Wings fans we know it all too well. It's really upsetting to even think of a first round upset at this point, but it's definitely a possibility. I don't think it will happen, but after that Edmonton series in '06 I'll never underestimate a team in the first round again.

Kopecky has torn ACL; out 4-6 months

This is really too bad. More so for Kopecky than the team, I think, although he had definitely stepped up his game of late. NO MORE INJURIES, PLEASE.

    EDM @ VAN

I really don't want to play either Calgary or Nashville, but looks like we're stuck with one of them. I'd like to see CGY/SJ go at it, I think that would actually be a decent series to watch.

    EDM @ VAN

I want Vancouver to win. It would set up an amazing game on Saturday between them and the Flames. If Vancouver was to win both games they'd be in and the Flames would be out. Both teams would be tied in points and wins but Vancouver won the season series so they'd move on to the playoffs. I'd MUCH rather face Vancouver than Calgary again.

3/30 GDT: Red Wings 1, Predators 0 (OT)

Nice win. It wasn't an easy one but it's not gonna be easy in the playoffs either, so we gotta get used to these games. Hasek was great, and if there was any doubt over whether he would be in good enough form to start the playoffs, it's been laid to rest. Ellis was great too. And what else can be said about Franzen? I've always been a big fan of his and I love how he is stepping up his game. The man is unstoppable right now. I think I might be alone on this, but I would rather face Vancouver than Nashville in the first round. Even before this game, something about Nashville made me nervous. They seem like a team that would be capable of a first round upset. I just don't see that in Vancouver.

3/22 GDT: Red Wings 4, Blue Jackets 1

Well, it's just my luck that I get home from work just in time to see Columbus score and start putting on the pressure. Then there were technical difficulties on the Center Ice feed for a few minutes and by the time it finally gets back, it's 4-1 Wings. So basically I got to watch all the crappy parts of the game but not the good parts. Oh well. Glad we won.

    3/19 GDT: Zetterberg 3, Blue Jackets 1

Well, this definitely was not a game I expected us to win through 40 minutes. But it's awesome that we did, kudos to Z. Great game by Ozzie as well.

Games now equal, San Jose is closing in

I don't care if we finish in first or second and I'll tell you why. The only thing that matters in my mind is the outcome in the #3 vs #6 series. Say we finish in first and #3 beats #6. Assuming there are no upsets in the first round, we get Anaheim in round 2 and likely San Jose in round 3 if we get that far. Now, if we finish in second and #3 beats #6, we get #3 in round two and San Jose/Anaheim duke it out. It could also work the other way around, where we finish first and #6 upsets #3 (this would be the best scenerio in my mind). Considering how close the #3 and #6 seeds are, it really is a coin toss as to who will win that series. Would it be nice to have Game 7 at the Joe if necessary? Absolutely, but I'd say it's worth not finishing first if we can avoid the two deadliest teams until the Conference finals.

3/16 GDT: Blue Jackets 4, Red Wings 3

I hate when the other team scores first. Seems like it happens a lot lately. Didn't get to watch the whole game. Obviously disappointed with the result but we'll get 'em Wednesday. These afternoon games suck.

    3/15 GDT: Predators 3, Red Wings 1

Pretty boring game, we weren't very good. Oh well, one loss in six games isn't bad at all. Hopefully we see a better effort tomorrow.

    3/13 GDT: Red Wings 5, Stars 3

Didn't get to watch the game, had to work. I caught the last half of the highlights though, great to see us come back and win one. Big save by Ozzie at the end there. Glad to see Franzen doing so well, I've always been a big fan of his.

    Cleary Re-Signed: 5-Years, $14 M

I was so happy when they announced this during the game. I was starting to get scared for awhile that he was going to leave, but it's great to have him back at a bargain of a price.
