I shaved when things got tough in the San Jose series, but I kept the sideburns nice and long. Needless to say it worked out very well.

I just hope that we can use this call as motivation for the next game. Even if we technically should have won this game, we were outplayed for the vast majority of it.

There's a couple of things about that goal that really bothered me. First of all, the fact that Dom got pushed into the net. The guys on CBC were saying that it doesn't matter that he was pushed into the net because that call can't be made by the guys upstairs. If the goalie is pushed into the net, apparently it has to be called on the ice by the ref as it happens. WHY? What kind of rule is this? If video review was made to get the correct call, how does this make sense? Secondly, the fact that there wasn't an angle (that I saw anyways) that could clearly show the puck was completely over the line. Sure, it might have seemed like it was past the line, but did we really know for sure? Let's go back to that Buffalo/NYR game last series with the play at the end that they waved off. With a bit of common sense, you could conclude that the puck went past the line just before Lundqvist got it with his pad. However, they called this no goal because apparently common sense isn't good enough. Until I see a clear shot of the puck well behind the two goal posts (we couldn't see the line because it was on Dom's leg), I'm not going to believe that this was a good goal. A lot of this is probably just out of frustration, but I honestly cannot believe they called it a goal.

Frustrating after that third Ducks goal. We should be up 2-0. The inconsistency in this league is baffling sometimes.

I was sitting at home about 2 feet from the TV. I remember how anxious I was that whole day leading up to the game. It was definately one of my favourite games of all time, despite the lopsided score.

Can't wait for this one. Let's come out hard and play our game. A win today would be a huge advantage heading out to Anaheim. Hopefully Dom will continue his strong play. GO WINGS!

How about that goal by Nash? There's a player I'd love to see in Detroit someday. Way to go Canada and Stevie! I hope Andy Murray is coaching at the Olympics.

I haven't read through any of this thread yet so a lot of the stuff you'll see here has likely already been mentioned many times. First off, Dominek Hasek. Unreal. He absolutely stole this game. How huge was the glove save on Penner? I LOVE YOU DOMINATOR. Zetterberg and Datsyuk were all over the ice tonight, they both had amazing games. I was honestly a bit skeptical that our top line would be able to generate offense against Pronger and Niedermayer, but boy did those two show up tonight. Hopefully we can expect more of the same in the rest of the series. Our PP looked great out there, even without Schnieds on the point. I thought Samuelsson had a great game at the point. PK was great as usual, I loved that huge block by Lilja in the first while on the PK. Bertuzzi looked pretty good out there tonight I thought, he used his body a lot more and he generated a couple scoring chances. There's still a lot of room for improvement though, but if he ever gets back into full form then watch out. We'll need some secondary scoring going forward in this series so hopefully Bertuzzi and Calder can get something going. All that aside now, great way to kick off the series. Reffing was brutal, but I'm glad we fought through it. Let's hope for a similar result on Sunday!

Can't wait for this game. I say Buffalo wins 4-3, but Ottawa wins game 2. There's something about Ottawa that makes me feel that they will win this series.

I don't think they're all that bad so long as the Wings aren't playing a Canadian team. I think a big reason for it is because Detroit's had a lot of success over the last decade and they'd like to see a newer team break through and take a shot at winning the cup. It's the same reason I dislike the Devils. Nothing against the team, but I'd rather see almost anyone else advance than them. By the way, I love Glen Healy. He tells it like it is no matter what. His segment with the Loch Ness Monster on TSN is awesome, "The player you've heard of but haven't seen".

Hasek was amazing. He was a difference maker in this series, and that's what we needed him to be. We'll need it in the next series too. I have so much faith in him right now. Lidstrom was, again, awesome. Huge play by bailing out Hasek, and a couple great plays on odd man rushes as well. Chelios was excellent in this series as well, he has really stepped it up this year. Sammy had a great game, offensively and defensively. I thought he really stepped it up in this series, and I'm not just saying that because of his 3 goals in the last 2 games. It's kind of ironic how the Wings were actually more like sharks than the Sharks were in this series. When we smelled blood, we went for the kill. The Sharks did not. Nevertheless, it was a great series. It must be disappointing for San Jose and their fans for another tough 2nd round exit, but I think they'll be back next year. Bring on the Ducks, I love how this team is playing right now. This is the best final four we've had in a long time, get ready for some good hockey!

Can't wait for this series. I really have no idea who will win. I was thinking Buffalo in 7 awhile ago, but Ottawa has looked great so far and I think the teams they've faced have been tougher. I think it will come down to Emery. If he plays well, the Sens will win.

I can't wait for this game. I hope we come out flying tonight. We'll need another strong game from Hasek, and the way he's played the last few games I expect it. Hopefully Dats and Z can put up a few points as well.

GO CANADA! Wish I could watch it, but I'll be at school. From what I've seen in the tourney, Doan and Toews look great. Roloson looks shaky though. The game against the Czechs was great today, this one should be even better.

That was a great series. I would have liked to see a game 7, but it's all good. For the first time in awhile, the final five teams are actually the 5 best teams in the league, IMO.

Horrible news. Hopefully Lebda will be back soon.

Great win, the players we needed to play good were great. Hasek is one of the strangest goalies to watch. It's almost as if I actually WANT him to give up a weak goal early on, because I know from that point on he'll be so mad at himself that he won't let anything else get by him. He was great after the first goal and really helped us weather the storm at the end to prevent SJ from getting any more momentum for game 6. We need to give Dom and our defence a lot of credit. This is an explosive San Jose team and we haven't allowed them more than 2 goals in any game. That's pretty amazing. Great game by the top line as well. Holmstrom has made such a huge difference since his return to the lineup. Our powerplay has been so much better these last few games. Bertuzzi wasn't great in the first but I thought after that he looked much better. Also our penalty killing has been really great in this series. Drapes, Malts and Cleary have all been awesome. Can't wait for game 6, I just hope Schnieder's okay.

This game shows a lot about the character of this team. It looked like nothing was going right and we were all but ready to pack it in and try again next year. I think this game more than any other game I've seen this year shows just how valuable Holmstrom is to this team. He played great hockey today. What else is there to say, the right guys stepped up at the right time. Hasek was awesome in this game, it was easily his best game of the playoffs. I can't wait for game 5, espescially since I might be going to it.

Amazing. I can't believe this just happened. I'm shaking as I type this. What a play by Schnieds at the blueline, and what a shot! It was just an hour ago where I said I hated the shooting the puck over the glass rule. Needless to say, I don't mind it as much now.

See you guys after the game, lets go boys!
-
Dom has been a hero tonight. If not for those big saves, it's a 3-1 Sharks victory and we're down 3-1 in the series. No criticism for Dom tonight.
-
Just when it looked like it was over, what a HUGE goal by Lang. THANK YOU GOD! Now we have all the momentum, the Sharks are nervous, and all we have to do is go out there and play our game in OT. I'm so pumped right now, let's do it boys!

LANGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG HOLY s***

That rule is so stupid. More big saves by Hasek though. Hang in there boys.
