Maybe it's because I was watching this game at a bar but I didn't think we played THAT bad. We owned the third and controlled parts of the first and second period. We came SO close to tying this game and with a few lucky bounces we could have easily won. I don't want to blame the game on officiating but they were atrocious tonight. How about that two hander on Cleary during that breakaway? I don't know how you can miss that, and it seemed to be the general consensus even amongst Pens fans at the bar that they got away with some calls. All I know is this, we have made it to Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals and we are at home. If you told me we'd be in this position at the beginning of the year, I'd be thrilled. If we keep the turnovers, penalties and odd man rushes to a minimum, we will win. And I know people like to think that the league favours the Pens, but the home team always gets the benefit of the calls, so that takes care of one problem. I can't wait for Game 7, it is going to be INSANE. Go Wings Go.

Win or lose, this is great for hockey. If there's one thing we as Wings fans haven't experienced, it's winning a Stanley Cup in Game 7 at home. There would be nothing sweeter. Go Wings Go.

What a game. I watched this at my buddy's house with a few Wings fans and a bunch of people going for the Pens, so it was even more sweet. Welcome back Pavel.

Well this was a brutal game to watch. Talk about a turn of events, we're up 2-1 and get back to back PP's. Minutes later, we're down by 2 and nothing is going right. We need Datsyuk back NOW. We also need Hossa and Hudler to start doing something. Our role players can only carry this team so far. I'm not worried yet though. Home ice advantage is huge in this series, and I predicted Wings in 7 from the beginning. Any team can win a best of 3, even a tired, injury plagued team like ours. We need to win game 5, that's all there is to it.

These "day to day" injuries are so frustrating. Let's hope for the best. If not, I'm still confident we can get the job done tonight.

Well, we didn't play poorly or anything. The game could have gone either way. I was pretty pissed when the game ended but I've settled down a bit now. Bottom line, we will win this series if we can stay out of the penalty box. Unfortunately, there's nothing we can do to make sure that happens because the officiating in this league is so damn inconsistent. I don't know what's a penalty anymore and I'm not sure the players do either. Helm's penalty in the first period is a play that happens 100 times a game, and should not be a penalty. I don't blame the loss on officiating because I thought it was a fairly called game, but I just wish they wouldn't call such ticky tacky stuff like that when at other times it is let go. I guess you could make such a case for Ericsson's penalty but his was pretty blatant. I'm still very optimistic about the series, and it would have been foolish for anyone to expect a sweep, so no reason to be too concerned yet. Let's just hope to God that Datsyuk is good to go on Thursday.

I was one of the ones who was less than impressed with his play in the regular season, but I can't argue with these results. He has been STELLAR in these playoffs.

I missed this one, but I'm proud of the boys for coming through in such impressive fashion despite not dressing our two best players. This team is awesome.

WCF GAME 3 GDT: Red Wings 3 at Blackhawks 4 (OT)

Tough loss, but it was nice that we came back from that 3-0 deficit. It was exciting, for one, and also it shows that we're never out of a game. Despite no Datsyuk, no Kronwall and no favours from the refs, it still could have been anybody's game. I'm not happy with the result but it was a decent effort at least. It's key that we get a good start in game 4. -
I thought in the first two periods, we had some terrible calls against us. However I felt we got away with a few in the third. The officiating has been bad both ways. I don't think it's a big deal that Hawks fans are complaining, since we do it after every loss too.

WCF GAME 2 GDT: Blackhawks 2 at Red Wings 3 (OT)

Great game, FINALLLLLY we get a solid OT win. Feels great. It's funny how Sammy would have been the goat if we lost, but now that we won he's a hero. Great little passing play on the game winner. Ozzy was rock solid. Not a perfect game for us but that's the best part about it. Despite not playing our best game, we still won. -
I don't think you can say Boston choked. They were only one lucky bounce away from a Conference Finals berth. In the games I watched, Carolina consistently looked better. That combined with Ward's excellent goaltending was just too much for Boston. Carolina just has something special going for them right now.

Osgood was stellar, espescially in that first period. If Anaheim scores first, I'm not liking our chances. Ozzie is clutch, what more can you say.

Nothing more annoying than an afternoon playoff game. I'll miss most of games 1 and 4, and probably half of game 5.

First of all, I must wear one of my jerseys on the day of a playoff game. I started this last year and well, yeah. During game time, I sit on my couch slouched forward with my hands crossed. I must stay like this during the entire period (even commercials), and only during the intermissions am I allowed to relax. I also HAVE to watch the game at home. Nowhere else is acceptable. If we win, the jersey stays on until I go to bed. If we lose, the jersey comes off immediately and is hung up for the next game. Nothing too extreme I guess.

I played online in NHL 09 today against a guy who picked the Ducks. I won 1-0 on a Datsyuk goal. It's a sign!
-
The league set the precedent with the non-suspension on Scott Walker. If they won't even suspend him, there is NO WAY Niedermayer is going to be suspended for a game 7. It's too bad because that was a really dirty play. I thought Nieds was one of the good Ducks that you could just respect, but he's dropped a few notches in my books. Not many Ducks left for me to like.

Terrible game. What happened to our PP? Rafalski wasn't at 100% yet he was still our best player tonight, along with Osgood. Our big guns need to step it up. Datsyuk needs to get scoring pronto. It's not that he's playing poorly but for a guy that we count on to score, he needs to step it up. You could tell in the third that this just wasn't going to be our night. Refs were bad in this one too, for both sides. I am really disappointed that we lost tonight but still optimistic that we'll come out hard in game 7 at the Joe. It's been too long since the last one.
-
This is a big challenge. I feel like I must contribute!
-
For real. He has picked up right where he left off last year, which is GREAT news. He has given our fourth line (and now our third line) an incredible boost. I can't wait to have this guy as a regular in our lineup.
-
Hamilton will get a team. It's just a matter of when. This news is starting to get old though. Everytime something like this happens, the city gets all excited, and then nothing happens.
-
Let's Go Wings! Massive game.
-
I would also prefer Hiller. I think if we win game 5, we may see Jiggy in game 6 though. But it would be hard for Carlyle to pull the goalie that got him to where he is. The Ducks probably wouldn't have even made the playoffs without Hiller.
-
Sucks for him, considering how last year went. He hasn't been great, but he has been decent along the boards. He seems to work pretty well with Helm and Maltby. Hope he can come back at some point, for his sake at least.
-
At this point, I just want Rafalski back to take ice time away from Chelios. The Ducks are too big and strong for Cheli, he just can't contain them. I really hope Raffi comes back soon. We have been fortunate that Cheli's blunders haven't really cost us that much (aside from the breakaway in game 3). I am excited to see Abdelkader back in the lineup. I wonder if any of the play by play guys will actually pronounce his name right? Him for Kopecky is a wash at worst, and a bit of an upgrade at best, so nothing to lose there.
