Great game. Franzen is ******* clutch. That Ducks PP goal had me a little nervous at the end, thinking back to all those blown leads this season. But thankfully it's the playoffs so we don't need to worry about that. Another solid game by Ozzy. Flip was spectacular again. Nice to see Hossa come to life too. Hopefully that line can keep up the great chemistry. As long as we keep playing like we did tonight, we'll be fine. It would be really nice to have Rafalski back soon though because Cheli is looking worse with every game. Every time the Ducks get a scoring chance, it's Lebda and Chelios out there. Otherwise, I can't really complain about much. A three goal win on the road sounds great to me. Can't wait for Sunday.

We played bad for 35 minutes, absolutely, but how many times in the past have we outplayed teams for 60 minutes and still lost? Regardless of how it happened, the score should be 2-2. There NEEDS to be some sort of coach challenge implemented into the NHL. Things like goalie interference and quick whistles need to be reviewable. Who was the moron that thought it would be a great idea to make those things non-reviewable anyways? We are in an age of incredible technology. There is no reason why the right call shouldn't be made, espescially under such important circumstances.
-
Well, what can you say? This game should be going to overtime, but once again we get f***ed over on a terrible call. We'll win game 4.
-
Hope Wozniewski (however that is spelled) is okay. You never want to see that happen. There is hope yet though. Good end to the period. Datsyuk has looked much better tonight. See what happens when we get some rebounds?
-
That was an abysmal period. What the hell are we doing? Forget 07, this is looking more like 06. Did we have a single shot from inside the circles? We need rebounds, enough shooting for the crest. Aim for the pads. It's freaking Jonas Hiller, what are we going to do if we ever get to face Luongo?! The only two positive things after that period are Ozzy played well and there's still 40 minutes left.

Still, you have to admit that the series' have played out very similar so far. That's why everyone is comparing them. This is bad news. Rafalski gives our PP a huge boost. Sammy on the point just does NOT work and it never has.
-
Pretty sure no one's comparing Kronwall to Pronger. Hey, I love Kronwall's hits and I know everyone here does. But for the most part, they are illegal hits according to NHL rules. I calls 'em as I sees 'em.
-
I am amazed he doesn't get called for these hits because most of them are pretty obvious charges. I bet the next time he does it, it'll be a penalty.
-
It can't be explained. We don't really play any differently. It just seems to be in playoff hockey that whoever controls the play in OT will lose the game. Whenever we go to OT, I've come to expect a loss. I am not the least bit surprised that we lost in OT today and honestly it has made the loss a bit easier to swallow.

Ugh. Overtime....best thing ever when you win, worst thing ever when you lose. Good effort by a lot of guys, Helm and Filppula were great. We need Datsyuk and Hossa to get going. And please GOD let Rafalski come back for game 3.

Good win. Not a perfect game but an exciting finish at least. Mule was a beast out there. It was awesome seeing Ericsson go after Perry like that. The thing I liked was that we didn't give them a lot of clear cut chances. Most of their good chances were just floaters from the point that changed direction. Our defense is looking solid. Lebda had another nice game. It'll be nice to have Rafalski back though when he's ready.

I just hope he's feeling better, I couldn't imagine getting a headache every couple of hours. Must be horrible. As much as I would love to see him back this year, it's not looking very realistic. Get well soon, Lilly.

Washington and Carolina, so I can go 8 for 8 in my first round picks.
-
Yep. I'll maybe catch the last five minutes.

Stupid thing for the fan to do, and an equally stupid thing for Torts to do. He will most likely be suspended for game 6, the league just can't tolerate something like this.

Canucks fans already planning Stanley Cup parade route

The 'Nucks are scary because we've lost to worse teams with way worse goalies in the past. I have been impressed with their defense so far but again...they've only played the Blues. The next round will be a bigger test for them, regardless of who they face (maybe not Calgary). -
Well, another solid game for us. Ozzie has been so solid between the pipes. Makes you sort of wonder what the series would be like if we had started Conklin instead. That hit by Stuart was a beauty. I'm glad to see most people are back to liking him again, I think most of the criticism he's received this year has been unfair. I also have to give some credit to Lebda because he has quietly played very well in this series. Nice goal by Cleary, great to see our 2nd/3rd liners putting up the points. I'm going to a concert Thursday night so I will miss the game, but I hope I won't have to watch a Game 5 on Saturday.

The Ducks' team defense has been awesome so far. They've done an incredible job clearing the zone of loose pucks and not really allowing any second chances on Hiller. I picked Anaheim in 7 in my pool based solely on Anaheim's defense and it's looking pretty good so far. The Sharks really don't seem to be playing very well though. I wanted to play Anaheim in the first round solely for the revenge factor. Now if we advance and Vancouver advances, we are either playing Anaheim or the 'Nucks. I think we are very capable of beating both teams, espescially if we continue to play the way we have. One advantage for us is our special teams are looking FAR better than St. Louis or San Jose's special teams. I think this is espescially important if we play the Canucks, because they've played with fire with all their penalties but the Blues haven't been able to cash in. I would also say that our offense is somewhat more potent than the Sharks offense, or at least our offense has proven it can show up in big playoff games. The Sharks have had the most success so far when they've had traffic in front of Hiller and gotten pucks through, and no one does that better than us. Bottom line, if we continue to play like we are we have nothing to worry about. It's unfortunate though that if we are to make it to the finals, we're probably going through Anaheim AND Vancouver.
-
I'll say Caps, Habs and Flames win. I think the Flames will take both games at home.
-
Vancouver is just a bad matchup for them. The only way they could beat a top tier team in a 7 game series is to have their goalie outplay the opposition goalie, and well...that's just not going to happen with Luongo. I said 'Nucks in 5, seems like a decent prediction if the Blues can manage to get a goal or two at home.

I personally am enjoying the Ducks/Sharks game. Hiller looks sharp so far. I'm hoping for a little more playoff OT tonight.

WCQF GAME 1 GDT: Blue Jackets 1 at Red Wings 4

Great game, Osgood was fantastic. If you told me before the game that Osgood would outplay Mason, I'm not sure I would have believed you. He was steady as can be out there and his big saves helped to settle us into the game. Huge props for Ozzie. Good to see our PK units coming up big, even though Columbus has an awful powerplay. Nash was pretty much invisible in this game, so either we did a great job of containing him or he just had a bad game. Probably a bit of both, but I think we all know that if Nash isn't scoring, Columbus isn't going to beat us. Awesome start to the series, I cannot wait for Game 2. -

This game will likely tell us alot about what to expect in the coming weeks. It's gorgeous outside, definitely feels like the playoffs. I wore my Wings' jersey to school today and ripped an exam, so hopefully that's a sign of things to come! -
I just finished a full season of NHL 09 and the final four was Ottawa, Pittsburgh, Phoenix and Columbus. I think that says it all.

I think Maltby will sit, although I wouldn't be surprised to see either of them out. I think they'll let Kopey play just because of what happened to him last year, you gotta at least give the guy a chance. But either way, great news. Looking forward to seeing Helm back out there.
