Russia is going to be stacked but Canada is the team to beat, for sure. Canada always plays well on home ice, it seems. Sweden is a threat but not like they were in 2006.

I thought the whole event was pretty boring. It needs an overhaul. Shootout competition was alright, but Getzlaf really deserved to win it.

This is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. I try to give Bettman the benefit of the doubt in most situations, but this is just stupid.

Terrible third period. We fell apart after the fourth Coyote goal. PK needs some serious work. Hopefully we'll be healthy and hungry coming back from the All Star break.

Lidstrom's having his best game of the season even without the goals he's scored. He's having a great game. Let's see something happen even strength in the third.

If this game proves anything, it is that we should not be worried about anything. We lost by one goal to arguably the best team in the leauge in our third game in four nights on a tough west coast trip with a lot of bad calls against us, an unlucky bounce on the 4th goal and mediocre goaltending. If we are playing any other team in the league tonight, we win this game.

There was a commercial a few years back that poked fun at this. Some beer league player comes off the ice and his wife is standing there, it goes something like... Wife: Hey, great game. Listen, I was- Player: Well it was a gut check time, you know, our backs were against the wall but we really battled through it and we managed to come out on top. Wife: .....what are you talking about? Player: Yeah we're on a bit of a streak here, we're getting a great team effort, everybody's contributing, all lines are firing...it feels really good. Wife: ....I'll be in the car. Player: Okay thanks (walks off) There has to be somebody here who knows what I'm taking about, it was hilarious. Maybe it's on Youtube somewhere.

Nice stop at the end by Ozzy. I don't understand how they can not make that call on the blatant hold on Datsyuk, but I'm glad it didn't matter. A bit sloppy, but a good win all in all.

There's something funny about Georges Laraque using "lol", but yeah this was a really good read.

The bottom two teams in each pool begin a relegation round after the Round Robin where they each play each other and the teams with the two best records in those games come back again next year while the bottom two teams lose their spots. What an unbelievable performance by Janus today. McCollum looked horrible, I hope he is able to get past this for our sake.

I'm looking forward to today and tomorrow's games. Hopefully USA and Russia can pull out wins today so we can have a couple of great semi's tomorrow.

I'll be damned if he doesn't entertain the hell out of me though. I know most people here hate him and I know he's a bit of a ******, but I grew up watching him call the World Juniors so I kind of enjoy his commentary, however biased it may be.

Yeah it really does suck, but I'm not too bummed. At least I'll be able to watch the semis and finals of the World Juniors. I don't think I've seen a full Wings game in about a month.

I am working 10-6 tomorrow... We will definitely win because I can't watch.

My favourite tournament. I wouldn't say Canada is the clear favourite just yet. They looked great tonight but the Czechs are apparently pretty weak this year. Sweden, USA and Russia all look good. The semifinals are going to be sick. Pretty much a guarantee that those four teams will play each other in some combination. It's really unbelievable how good Canada would be if they had some of the eligible NHL players playing. Schenn? Stamkos? Turris? Gagner? Doughty? Sutter?

I'm gonna miss this one, best of luck boys. I have a good feeling for some reason.

I hope our desire comes back when we get closer to the playoffs. We only play hard for 10 minutes of each game.
