Come on Ozzy.
-
One of the better regular season games I can remember watching in some time. Still, I was pretty frustrated up until we tied it up. It doesn't matter how well he plays, if Ozzie's in net we're going to allow 3 or more goals. A win's a win, I guess. Our true test comes Thursday.

This pretty much sums up my thoughts. At least we made it entertaining. Dallas was terrible too, they played the entire third like they were on the penalty kill. The fans cheered every time the puck left their zone. Oh well, Babcock didn't look too happy, so I expect to see a better showing tomorrow night.

I had to work so I didn't see this game. Glad we won. Pierre Maguire usually goes on and on about how talented and deep the Red Wings are...sorry guys, I like him. I enjoy his commentary.
-
For teams that haven't changed location, I'd say Ottawa. The old 2D senator was waaaay better. I wish Hartford never moved to Carolina though because the Whalers logo was one of my favourites and the 'Canes logo sucks.

We played pretty well tonight. No idea how Vancouver managed 5 goals. Good to get the win, nice game by Hudler.

Hahaha oh man what a ******. I hope Phaneuf knocks him into next week.

Good game, we dominated. It may have been only a one goal game for 95% of it but let's be honest, we completely outplayed them. I'm so glad we won so we don't have to read 100 "why don't we have a George Parros?" posts.

It's too bad, we came out flying but that first goal turned the tide. I'm going to my friend's place for some poker where I'll be forced to watch the Leafs game instead. Let's hope we can turn this one around.
-
He has played pretty well this season. I've always kind of liked him. I don't know if there's a player in the league that I'd rather have for the money he's making (at least, not a player that we could get).
-
5 out of 6 points from Western Canada. It sucks that we lost like that but that point will mean nothing at season's end. We deserved to win tonight, it was a couple defensive breakdowns and a bad penalty by Franzen that cost us the game. Too bad for Ozzie, it was probably his best game of the season. No worries here.

It's funny because his signing almost went unnoticed thanks to Hossa, and he's proven himself to be almost equally as important to the team. I have full confidence in him should Osgood go down. Hell, I almost like our chances better with him in net. Based on what I've seen from him this season, if he had better rebound control, he could be a top 10 goalie.

per TSN.ca text message. Rick Tocchet to take over. Wow, that didn't take long. Link: http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=255866&...s=topStory_main

1. Because I was replying to "Besides, even if he was merely feeding off all-star line mates, why should that be used to knock him?" 2. This is true. 3. I've never won anything in my life, so thanks for that. Seriously though, for many of his goals this season he has been in the right place at the right time. Not that it's a bad thing. The goals he's scored this year have been similar to goals that Homer scores for us, and no one's considering him a top 20 forward. 4. The mere fact that Franzen is not in that 0.1% is the reason why he's not a top 20 forward in the league. 5. Maybe so, but if he leaves next season maybe we can resume this debate in a year's time. As for the Crosby/Malkin thing, sorry, I don't watch the Pens much. Although I'm sure they play together on the PP.
-
No, but there's no way he scores as many points if Malkin's not there. I'm not knocking Franzen for playing with good linemates. This is a thread about the top 20 forwards in the NHL. When I'm making a list of top 20 forwards, I'm not thinking about the player's linemates. I can't remember who Franzen was playing with when he broke out, but I'd imagine it was some combination of Hudler/Flip/Sammy. All guys who are still good passers, even if they aren't on Z or D's level. The thing is, he wasn't really a consistent producer until he caught fire at the end of last season. He got hot. He's a better player now because of that hot streak. He now knows where he needs to be and what he needs to do to score goals. With that being said, look at some of the goals he's scored this year. I could have scored a lot of them. In the past three games alone he's had two gaping nets to shoot at on nice feeds from Z and Hudler. I absolutely do not doubt that he is a talented goal scorer but I think the players he's playing with deserve a lot of credit. He'd probably be the first to tell you that, actually. Don't get me wrong here, I love me some Franzen. But I don't think he would produce the way he has if he was on a team like, say, Toronto where he'd have to do all the work himself.
-
Guys, I'm not saying ALL of his goals are tap ins, come on. I was there for the playoffs, I saw what he did. All I'm saying is that playing with Zetterberg certainly doesn't hurt his point totals.
-
I love Franzen, but I don't think he would look as good if he didn't have Zetterberg feeding him gorgeous passes like we saw against Tampa. It seems like a lot of his goals are tap ins. I would still say he is top 35 though, he brings a lot to the table besides scoring goals.
-
Well, at least the Tampa management is willing to admit their mistake. I always liked Tortorella to be honest, I think they should have kept him.
-
Yeah, he was good tonight. I was impressed. That's what we need to see from him.
-
I have no idea how they could possibly call that a goal, it was clearly kicked. I mean, it was going in anyways, but he kicked it. It shouldn't have counted. At least it didn't matter. Anyways, nice comeback. Almost makes up for last game. Good win.
-
5 on 3 with fresh ice, sounds good to me.
-
I agree about Maltby. He's had a few good shifts tonight.
-
Ozzie should have had the first goal. Second goal was nice, not much we could do. Not a good period. I haven't heard anyone bash him yet but Filppula has been non existent so far this season. He needs to do something besides lose a battle for the puck in the corner.
-
Wow, pretty random. So how long until he's with the Leafs?
