It really baffles me because they are in a lawsuit with former players about head injuries. Not a good image to say we are trying to eliminate illegal hits to the head, and many go unpunished. If I'm the former players I would go through each one of these and make hours and hours of footage. Seriously it's only a matter of time before someone takes a shot to the head from a sucker punch and sues the league.

What the hell is up with this whole force thing, people are defending no suspension for palat because the hit is with less force than kronwall's?! It's a hit to the head, so now you can hit someone in the head but with less force? Bravo NHL I expect no better wording from a league that uses the word charging to define the penalty of charging...

No where in the rule book does it say anything about launching! 42.1 Charging - A minor or major penalty shall be imposed on a player who skates or jumps into, or charges an opponent in any manner. Charging shall mean the actions of a player who, as a result of distance traveled, shall violently check an opponent in any manner. A “charge” may be the result of a check into the boards, into the goal frame or in open ice. So he didn't travel a great distance, and his skate was on the ice moment of contact.

The video is such BS, I watched it twice that was a big mistake blood pressure rising.

His skates never leave the ice until after the hit. The NHL rules state jump into, didn't know you could jump into something with your feet on the ground.

Uh by the wording of the NHL rules that is not charging. Watching that video he literally makes up a new rule to define charging!

Wait wait wait wait they said charging in that twitter post said nothing about a hit to the head!

The thing is he never makes this hit, it happens so infrequently because players are smart enough to skate with their heads up.

who decides when to look at these hits I really feel like it's the attention the media gives. Abdelkader has been hit in the head a least 3 times. Palat leaps at glendening makes contact with the head ,nothing. It's sad that the media has to really latch on to hits for them to get noticed.

kronwall didn't make any effort to intentionally leap at his head and it's a north south hit. If he's skating up right kronwal hits him in the chest

I don't know about that kronwall hit after seeing the freeze frame the only reason he hit him up high was because his head was down.
