I don't get why there isn't a process in which the players sticks are certified or something of that nature. Goaltenders pads are measured and if they use a pair that aren't they have to switch. (Rick DiPietro earlier this year)

Uhh Cheli got one like 2 years ago. 5 cross-checks to a guy and got called for the last three. It was hilarious.

The reason they do it is because the thought is that if you win your division you deserve to have home ice in the first round. So to make it easy, the top 3 spots go to division winners and then the rest fall in after that. Kind of like if baseball had 5 wild card spots.

lol to all the people that don't about the roster expanding after the trading deadline. I've seen Lilja make too many game ending mistakes. Most recently, stupid penalty at the end of the EDM game last week, cost the Wings a win, plain and simple. I haven't seen Lebda hand a game to anyone like Lilja does on a regular basis.

The only reason I tossed this up is because of how off the wall his choices were in comparison to the other 3 analysts in the column. He just seems to be the casual hockey fan who somehow got a job as a hockey commentator. Example: In that Dallas game, there was a play where flip was backing away from the net to get free from the crowd and the pass came across and he caught it and then shot. He says "He was on the correct wing for a one-timer I don't understand why he wouldn't one time it." Now anyone that has ever played hockey knows that if he would have tried to one time it there, he would have gotten nothing on it and it would have sputtered harmlessly towards the net.

If he wants to play in the NHL he needs to work on rebound control. If he did that, he wouldn't have allowed that one goal today. It was the direct result of him not controlling two rebounds in a row and that wasn't the only instance of that today. I guess everyone missed that about his game....

Yeah that Schremp move is illegal because he lifts the puck way over the crossbar while on his stick which would be high sticking and blown dead immediately, but still impressive that he can do that

The names are used as a sign of respect in most cases. They were chosen because Native Americans were seen as a proud and strong race. They were viewed as great warriors and really embodied the team ideals (fighting for a common goal, supporting each other, etc...) I went to Brother Rice HS and our name is the Warriors and our logo is extremely well known and we had to get permission to continue using the logo.

#30 will not hang in the rafters, I'm sorry. No one likes Oz more than I do, but they guy has benefited quite a bit fromt he teams he has been on. He was never the weak point, but he was also never the game changer. Sure you can point to a few saves that changed games, but when can you say Osgood stole a series like say Kiprusoff did against the wings a few years back. With that said, I said before the season that I would have liked to have seen an Osgood/Howard combo rather than Dom. Yeah he is all world when he is on, but he isnt always on
