Why are the Duck fans / press so cocky?

Absolutely! Anytime I see LBC (in your profile), I can't help but sing that song in my head. On a related note, one of the best radio stations in the country is right here in San Diego (http://www.fm949sd.com/)... and they were giving the Wings LOTS of props this morning. Seems the program director is a huge Wings fan... Just thought you all would like to know that not all So Cal media are Duck homers.... some are Wing homers.... That's San Diego you're thinking of... bra.

Why are the Duck fans / press so cocky?

Thank you. See duckette... this is what I am talking about. Roberto Who? seems to be realistic about the state of sports fannery in So Cal. It's not an insult to you... it's just the way it is. Look, I am an A's fan... and we take heat all the time becuase, although they are constatnly in contention for the AL West, they can barely sell tickets to the game. (you OC fans know what I mean) I don't deny that's the case. I can see the facts. It's unfortunate, but it is what it is. So Cal does not have legions of great sports fans. That being said, it makes those true fans, like yourself and Roberto Who?, that much more interesting. To be a hardcore sports fan in So Cal takes serious dedication.

    Smyth or Bertuzzi?

No question it's Smyth. But I agree with whoever said he's heading back to Edmonton.

Why are the Duck fans / press so cocky?

if u were a ducks fan and watched all the ducks game this year im sure you would be pretty much one of a very small group....
  7. Uhhh.... I think my avatar pretty much would have given that away. LOL. And, for the record... I love everything So Cal. San Diego is the greatest city in America... hands down. I have no use for hate. Oh, and as for Pronger, wasn't too worried... the Sharks have knocked his team out of the post season twice, and have been knocked out by his teams twice... but I wouldn't expect a So Cal sports fan to know that.

Why are the Duck fans / press so cocky?

See... at least when I stereotype, I admit it. But, I guess it's ok when you do it. I live in So Cal. Have for decades. Been to games at the Forum, Dodger Stadium, Staples, The Pond, whatever the hell the Ahaheim Angels of Los Angels of Ahaheim cal their stadium now, Jack Murphy, the new Padres stadium, the LA Helliseum... all of them. I associate with 100's of So Cal sports fans... many which openly admit what I am talking about. Of course not all So Cal sports fans are completely fickle... just the vast vast majority of them. Just like the press.
  9. No self respecting Shark fan would switch alliances to a So Cal team. The rest sounds about right though.

You assurances won't change what I have witnessed with my own eyes.

Why are the Duck fans / press so cocky?

If you don't care, then why did you ask. And, no, I'm not insinuating anything about you specifically... I was insinuating something about the fickle SoCal sports press.

Why are the Duck fans / press so cocky?

Guess you're not counting the post season in that 'decade' figure???? According to my sources, Detroit has yet to have capacity crowds for this post season. I have no idea how you act. But, the media, as far as I can tell, acts much like the stereotypical SoCal sports fan. Are you the stereotypical So Cal sports fan?

Yah, that dillweed needs to be kicked in the sack for starting that thread. What a moron.

    Post-GAME 4: Red Wings 3, Sharks 2 (OT)

Un#uckinbelievable 5 seconds left in the 2nd. 34 left in the 3rd. I'm not saying the Sharks deserved to win, becuase they really didn't, but that finish is just f-ing madening. I don't know how you give up two 2-goal leads in one series and expect to win... Oh well, congrats... back to JLA.

    We Pulled a Jan Jose

A Wings fan complaining about the officiating... that's priceless.
  18. I keep reading how the Wings defense/goaltending is without question better than the Shark's. Maybe on paper... but, both teams gave up exactly 199 goals during the regular season. But, the Sharks play in a division that scores many more goals. Not counting the Wings or the Sharks, the other 4 teams in each division scored: Pacific : 927 Central: 888 So, how exatly is it that the Wings are hands down the better defensive/goaltending team? (And before you tell me that the Pacific scored more, becuase the other 4 team in the Pacific have worse d/goaltending than the other 4 in the Central... the other 4 teams gave up 973 and 972 respectively.... a wash)
  19. I agree his post seaosn performance in Boston probably hastened his exit from there... and his supposed unispired play in letting Montreal come back from 3-1 deficit didn't help. But, that is the past now. As a Shark, his post season play has been "almost" on par with his regular season performance. (15 pts in 16 games is good, no matter who you are). I hope he's changed from Boston. maybe 3 post season series isn't enough to judge. I guess if he can keep up his near 1 pt. per game pace through this post season, he should shed at least some of that post season reputation he has.

Time To Return The Favor from 1994

If anuything, the Sharks should be getting payback for the Tiger's sweeping their bay area sporting friends last October.
  21. This is a myth just as much as the WIngs being soft and old. With the Sharks, Thornton has 15 pts. in 16 playoff games. For most players, that would be considered a pretty good post season record. In the series vs. the Preds, Joe had 6 pts. in 5 games.... even while having to deal with teh opponenets top D-Men. How is 6pts. in 5 games disappearing???
  22. How anyone can say the Wings should be underdogs just blows me away. Sure, they had 1 fewer win than the Sharks, but they did have 7 fewer losses (in regulation). The Wings are the #1 seed, and have home ice advantager. And, don't people know that the Joe is a tough place to play. And, the Sharks record there is far from good... it sucks! I dread it when the Sharks have to play there. I certainly don't take the Wings lightly. Obvously they are a very solid team to be the #1 seed. (And, I don't buy the weak division argument too much. This is the top league in the world. Even the worst teams are still top notch. You don't suck and end up with the #1 seed regardless who is in your division.) That being said... GO SHARKS!!

  24. Wow, quite a bit of confidence in this thread. The thread starter was right, Wings fans should be scared, just as Shark fans should be. One of these fine teams will be sent packing. This Sharks team is much better than the Flames, and better than the team that beat you guys in the regular season, with Guerin and Rivet, and Nabby is really hot right now. That being said, I am pretty confident too... pretty confident this should be a really good series, and confident that a very good team will be sent home for the season. Go Sharks.

Time To Return The Favor from 1994

I always figured the Wings got their payback in 1995, when they dismantled the Sharks, scoring 6 in each of the 4 games, outscoring the Sharks 24-6 in the series. That was payback enough. Our turn again!!!
