Doesn't NBC's deal expire after this season? If so, i can see ESPN and ABC getting back on board. Come to think of it, I actually wouldn't mind seeing a multi-outlet deal similar to what the NBA has with ESPN and TNT. Have Versus do their Monday/Tuesday games, then get Thursday Night Hockey back on ESPN with maybe a Wed. or Fri game on the Deuce now or then.

What exactly makes you think Lidstrom is gone? He's up in age, but only can he still play, he's still probably the best at his position.

You're also assuming the rookie group will be the only players who can eat away at that 88 goal margin. Alot of our players are capable of stepping up and increasing their production. Maybe Z gets 40-50 again, maybe this is the year Datsyuk breaks 100 pts. Maybe Franzen gets 40, maybe Cleary and Flip each get 20+. Maybe Holmstrom gets put back on the top line and has a rebound year. Alot of these guys have shown they're capable of stepping up and putting up big numbers out of nowhere, there's no reason that can't happen again. Not saying that will equal 88 goals, but its still enough to put us in a comfortable spot.

With all do respect, I really don't see how you (among others) can make predictions such as these this early. I can see that other teams have bolstered their lineups, and Detroit has seen an exodus of players. But to say we won't contend at the President's Trophy? We still have the majority of a team that went to two consecutive finals; We haven't lost anybody major that we were seriously expecting to keep; And we haven't even seen what this team looks like on the ice. There's so much that can happen. Last year, Pittsburgh lost Hossa, Malone, Sydor, Conklin, Laraque, Ruutu, Roberts, and Hall.....we all saw how that turned out.

I'm wondering how much the Hudler situation altered Kenny's trade plans at all. It seems like it was mostly a cap/roster space move in its original intent. But if Huds is gone, then a couple more options open up.

Drapes is, and has always been, one of the hardest working players on the team. He doesn't have his scoring touch anymore, but like everyone else said, he's one of our best faceoff and PK guys, and still brings alot of speed and grit out there. As long as he's still bringing something to the table, I don't see a reason we should send him out of town.

He plays a foot taller than he actually is. He's arguably been the Preds best defensive forward over the past 3 years; blocks shots, uses the body, great on the PK. A good vocal leader and veteran presence in the locker room. He's not as big as a traditional power, but his speed and intensity make up for it. I personally thought he was great in Nashville. He would fit great along side Helm or even with Maltby and Draper.
