If I remember correctly, Denis Hamel used the same slur on Ray Emery several years ago and was not suspended. Strangely enough, it was actually Emery who was suspended 3 games for his retaliation

Our imaginary GM is lazy and he sucks

Has anyone noticed what they are doing in Sunrise, FL?
RedFX replied to hockey&beer's topic in General
Not as good as Tampa or Washington. But you know what? I would not rule them out as a playoff team. They have depth and a lot of young talent. -
I don't hate it. It just doesn't really jump out at you at all. EDIT: I'm with the rest of you. I think adding some script/text inside the blue circle would add to it a little more

There's literally an article like this every offseason. I have yet to see any evidence that a Wings collapse will happen in the near future.

One thing I've noticed about Blashill at WMU and Indiana....His players show great development as the season progresses. We saw that at Western when guys like Balisy and Leone came out of nowhere to have strong second halves of the season. With people like Smith, Tatar, Mursak, and Emmerton having shots at being everyday players within the next year or two, he's going to help make sure they develop their full potential.

Dan Cleary Dallas Drake Patrick Eaves Todd Bertuzzi Drew Miller Ruslan Salei If it wasn't for Babs, these guys would not contribute NEARLY as much as they have recently
-
All of them together would still not get us Doughty

I'm okay with this. I think White is a slight step-down offensively than Rafalski, but a slight step-up defensively as well. I think he can get the job done. Another thing I like for next season...competition in the Bottom 3. You have 4 maybe 5 guys competing for 3 spots once training camp starts. I think this extra level of motivation is going to bring out the best in everyone.
-
I don't think It'll be that much. I'm thinking more like a 1st, 2nd/3rd (either or), and another conditional pick in a later draft. As far as players go, with Turris and Boedker still high in the system, I would have to imagine they'd ask for Brendan Smith or Jakub Kindl over Sheahan or Nyquist.
-
Your point reminds me of the Phil Kessel Boston thing from a few years ago. The situation dragged on late in the offseason, and all TO had to offer was a series of high draft picks, without prospects.
-
Did we even offer him a contract?
-
Again, you're missing the point. Just because Detroit and Minnesota were talking about Burns doesn't mean that Kenny never tried to pull the trigger. All that means is that San Jose was able to offer Minnesota more of what they were looking for. Flip is not the type of player the Wild were looking for. They wanted a pure goal-scoring winger, and Setoguchi is that player. Yes, Sheahan is probably expendable in that convo, but other than that and a draft pick, the Wings didn't have that last piece that they needed. San Jose did. s*** happens. The next time a D man becomes available, maybe It'll go our way. Ken Holland may be a hall of fame executive someday. I trust his judgement.
-
Well first off, Ken Holland has never missed the playoffs during his tenure as the Wings GM...So whatever strategy he's using, I'd say it's a pretty good one. "He let it go without a fight or offer." How do you know this? Are you suggesting Cliff Fletcher walked over to our table and said "I'll give you Burns for free" and Holland turned them down? Essentially, Minnesota got 3 first round picks, all offensive guys, from this deal. The Wings didn't have that kind of depth of young offensive players, so Minnesota turned to someone who did. There are probably a bazillion gajillion trade discussions that happen during the course of the year, and realistically only a slim percentage of those actually result in trades. Ken Holland is a smart guy. He knows what other teams are doing. He knows what our strengths and weaknesses are. One way or another, he's going to address those needs. But he's also going to do it in a way that helps us in the long run, just not this season.

Are we really get THIS upset over Brent ******* Burns?

Per Darren Dreger's Twitter On your marks...Get Set.... Speculate!

Not a fan of the "top 4 making playoffs" idea....

Notable Restricted/Unrestricted Free Agents in 2011

I wouln't mind Michael Ryder. He's got a good scoring touch and also plays with a little bit of a physical edge. Boston's played him on each of the Top 3 lines over the past few years, and he also has had limited experience on the penalty kill. He can be a great depth player here. -
Everyone seems to forget we have an enforcer.... /debate

Shane O'Brien is a 100% no in my book. Got to watch him this year, and while he has some size and some defensive presence in front of the net, he's made alot....and I mean ALOOOOOOOOTTTTTT of dumb plays this year. He's a sloppy puckhandler, he leaves guys wide open from being out of position, and he's gained a reputation for taking inopportune penalties. There's also been alot of questions regarding chemistry/work ethic issues. Keep in mind he's played for 4 teams already...and has yet to spend 2 full seasons with any of them...has been traded 3 times, and his current team "unlikely" (according to the Tennessean) to resign him. To me, a few fights aren't worth several defensive headaches

Per MSNBC I'm surprised Don Cherry isn't up in arms about this. But it's great to hear a player actually come out and say that
