Nashville always has the famed "Chelios is a sissy" chants. Well in a game last year, the chants start to rain down ago. A few seconds later, Chelios sends a rocket past Mason to put the Wings up 2-1. Epic fail Preds....Epic Fail

I had the opportunity to meet Scott and Julie at a charity event back while he was with the Preds. They're both class people and they did alot for the community and for hockey in Middle TN in general. Prayers are certainly with both of them.

Just something Ive noticed recently. Ive never seen such a disparity between the number of left-handed shooters vs. right-handed shooters as the Wings have. Only 4 players on the active roster (Maltby, Samuelsson, Rafalski, Chelios) are right-handed shots. Plus, the vast majority of our major prospects are left handed shots. So the question is, why do we have so many left-handed shots as opposed to right-handed shots? Is it merely coincidence? Or is it a coaching/system thing we look for? Just curious.

I was always a right-right shooter, but I know people who were taught to shoot left. But if you look around the NHL, the majority of teams still have a good number of Right-handed shooters. Alot of teams have a 50-50 or a 60-40 ratio of their handedness. Im just wondering if there is a reason the Wings aren't like that.

I think alot of what happens this summer will depend on the development of the minor league guys. If we keep Hossa and lose guys like Hudler, Samuelsson, Filpulla, etc. then guys like Helm, Abdelkader, and Leino will have to step up and take their place. If Babs and Kenny think they're ready to be everyday players, then I think we're more prepared to lose a Hudler or Filpulla. If the powers want to develop them a while longer, then we'll have some tough decisions to make. There's not gonna be a perfect outcome for this situation. Either way we'll be losing important part(s) of our team. But knowing Kenny, the decisions that will be made will be the decision that helps us the most in the long run.

GDT 2009 WCSF GAME 7: Ducks 3 at Red Wings 4
RedFX replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in Hall of Fame
Idk what game is more frustrating. We played like crap in Game 6 and deserved to lose. But to look this sharp at so many critical points tonight, and to have this absolutely atrocious officiating keeping putting us in a bad position...idk Im honestly too mad to think right now.- 1,913 replies

The Nashville Predators are going to the playoffs! They will be in Section 125, Rows E-G

Why do I keep getting the "the content you are trying to view is only available in certain areas" message on Yahoo?
-
Preds have about 17 hours between games. Combine that with travel and all other factors, we need to get on them early. Build some momentum while the energy for both teams is high. If we take control early, I dont think Nashville has the energy to recover. Actually kinda reminds me of the prelude to last game these two played, with the roles reversed.

Rafalski is lazy and he sucks...

Its shows the diversity of our hockey family when Sharks fan and Predators fan are arguing on a Red Wings board. Can't we all just shake hands and make fun of Anaheim?

I think this will all come down to the confidence Kenny and Babs have in the minor league guys (Helm, Leino, Ericsson, Howard, maybe Kindl or Abdelkader). If Hossa and Franzen stay, then guys like Samuelsson and Hudler will likely be gone. That lost depth would have to be filled by those G.R. guys. We've all seen what Helm and Leino can do. But in an injury-plagued situation, there would have to be enough confidence in guys like Abdelkader, Kindl, or Emmerton to step in and contribute (kind of like Helm and Leino were this year). If the powers at be feel these guys are ready to carry bigger loads, I think you'll see Hossa and/or Franzen back while Huds and Sammy split (and possibly a trade somewhere). If they want to develop them for a few more seasons, I think we lose one or both of the big 2, which lets us keeps someone like Hudler and opens the door for us to go after some role/depth guys in free agency.

You know, Crosby has been starting to grow on me a bit lately. He at least has the balls to stick up for himself and not have an enforcer do his dirty work for him. Still can be a whiny brat sometimes but his play is growing on me.

I'll be there. Lived in the Nashville area since 97 and have only missed 2 Wings games at the Arena/GEC/Sommet Center . heretic69, I wont lie, alot of the fans down here can be rough, and many truly believe the Red Wings are the NHL's worst team. But there are also alot of good, hockey-living fans here as well, so dont generalize about your experience based on a few idiots down here. Overall, its a great city with a great atmosphere. Demo's is a great place to eat. And I cant remember the name, but there's a pretty good pub right off Music Row.

As a Nashville resident, this is personally is always one of the most important games of the season, just for bragging rights and all that. The Preds have really started to pick up their play as of late and theyre starting to find some chemistry in these new line combos. And as many have already seen, the Preds play their best hockey of the season against the Wings. Should be a good one. Hopefully our improved defense holds and our big guns up front keep rolling. Wings 3, Preds 2
