First off, its good to be back talking hockey on LGW after an extended absence! As for tonight, Phoenix has looked pretty impressive at times this season. But the way we've been playing lately has been nothing short of dominant. I think Conks has another big outing and our offense keeps their intensity going. 5-1 final tonight.

Ah, this could not have come soon enough! Let's get this season off on the right foot with a 4-1 win!

I think the quote from Babcock sums up how deep this team is.

I hate to break it to you guys, but this one doesn't appear to be credible.

I don't know if this was posted or not, but did anyone see the "Best of Samuelsson" Photo gallery on the Freep? Some of those just made me laugh beyond all belief. Here's the link for anyone who hasn't seen it. Just pay special attention to the look on his face on half of those. My favorite by far is #16 though.

Best quote of the article:

HockeyTown Authentics if you live in the Detroit area. If not, NHL.com is probably your best bet.

As long as I see this on January 1st, I'll be happy

At least WKU won!!!!

This was done by fan voting. ESPN didn't pick them.

If we lose in the Finals, is '08-'09 season a failure?
RedFX replied to SFwingsfan's topic in General
Any team that does not win a Cup should consider their season a failure. -
Well Kopecky probably won't be back until at least mid-November, so he's out of the picture for a while. From what Kenny was saying, he would rather have Helm in GR if he wasn't going to get major playing time this year. Keep in mind Kenny is still pursuing Mac and Downey, so one of those guys will probably fill that 12th spot.

From the sound of what Rads was saying, he seemed a little miffed at Poile and the Nashville management. I don't know if there was some ongoing friction going on between him and the rest of the organization, but that could have a big part in it. As for the other Russian players, its going to be on an individual basis-depending on the player's situation and the team's situation. We've already seen Malkin turn down a huge offer to stay in Pittsburgh, but this new league has certainly made it clear that they are trying to lock up their homegrown talent. I think the agreement will be honored, but what concerns me is what role this will play in free agency. If Rads got 12 million a year, imagine what these guys would be willing to offer some other big name free agents in the market. My concern is that the GM's might start having to compete with the new league as well as each other during the offseason.

At least they no longer cheer for icings....

I don't think anyone down here with brains was suprised to hear this. Anyone that read between the lines knew what Boot's plan was all along. As for the ownership situation, the other owners have paid off Boot's immediate debt to Leipold and the city. Although the search is still on for a minority owner, there is no immediate danger to the team.

God bless you sir.

I don't know if Steve Montador was signed as Schneider's replacement or not, but supposedly Boston was interested in Matt.

Here's a couple of statements regarding the issue. Looks like either a) these reports aren't true (entirely), or b) they are and the Preds plan to fight this. Either way, nothing really definitive in these statements.

Yeah something is definitely fishy about this article. If it was true this would be plastered everywhere down here. Not even anything on any of the rumor sites or message boards about this. This seems like a bunch of bull to me. EDIT: In fact, it was a day or two ago that Poile said he is working on a long-term extension with A-Rad.
-
Yeah seems a bit out of reach. Even Jon Kitna is thinking "WTF?".
-
Looks like this may be a hoax. Radulov is still under contract and I cant find anything about this anywhere.
-
I was gonna guess he pulled a groin.

Definitely makes me forget I'm a Lions fan. As far as Helm, it may come down to training camp. I think Babs would rather put him in Grand Rapids than have him as a rotation player (basically what Meech was last year). Huds will probably have that 3rd line spot for now and when Kopper gets back he'll probably be used in that rotation role.

Sports Illustrated tried that. Then we won the Cup...........Actually this might be good for the Packers.

They can be the worst team in the NHL the next season, but they still have the Cup, and you still need to first get through them to get the cup.
