Kyle Calder ruined that theory.

I think its funny how Lowe offers everyone insane deals and they still turn him down.

Hossa knew when he came here that this was going to be likely his only year as a Wing (unless something absolutely crazy happens). Even if Flip goes, there wont be enough cap space for both Z, Mule, and Hossa. To me, he came here because he wants to win at all costs.

A good idea though.

There's a bunch-as well as some 00's

Scampy (Ray Scampinello) You mentioned Deadmarsh was the first to have his name fixed on the Cup. The the 2 players since then who have had their names repaired.

In my honest opinion, whoever is the defending Cup Champ is automatically going to be #1.

Im sure I wasnt the only one who was very intrigued with Chicago's signings yesterday. Picked up arguably the best D-Man on the market and one of the NHL's bright young goalies. They made good strides towards the end of last year and with all the bright young talent on that team, these guys can make some noise down the road. Now Detroit has had a pretty decent offseason to this point (*cough*), and our Cup-winning team is built to last for a long time. So the question here is, could we see a Renassaince of the Wings-Hawks rivalry in the next few years?

Stanley Cups are built on pitching?

I say McCarty. If Holland had to chose, then he's chosing McCarty.
-
Yeah you can. Nashville just did that with Erat.

Everyone always says they want to stay. Remember Bertuzzi?

Nevermind Mats

Hell if yesterday was an A, what's today? A+ just seems a little low to me.

Flip said money wasn't an issue, so hopefully we lock him up for 2-2.5 mil. For some reason tho, this Hossa deal tells me Kenny might be anticipating a huge offer sheet somewhere along the line. Get Mac for another year at .75. That leaves about 2 mil of wiggle room at the deadline or if we need an emergency signing/trade during the season. As far as Hank goes, Holland said he would wait til the free-agency cools down a bit before starting negotiations. Obviously Hossa's one-year deal signals Hank is still priority #1. Also room to keep Franzen. And who knows? Winning the Cup changes alot of people's perspective, maybe Hossa will stick around.

[understatement] Yeah I feel pretty good about our moves so far. [/understatement]

I guess he's serious about getting that Cup. Alot better offers out there, but no better team then the one he signed with.

Speaking of J Mac, whatever happened to Stefan Liv?

Dang. Melrose isn't playing around down there. If they somehow manage to get Rolston too, the Lightning will automatically become the Southeast's best team.

Just saw this on ESPN. Another hard-hitting; hard-working defenseman is on the market. Any possibilities here?
-
Damn it! He's going the Oilers!

I would wait for awhile. The thing about rookie numbers is that they tend to change alot (Quincey was 45 before last year, Meech was 36). I would wait and see what # Ericsson is wearing in camp first.

Despite what Kenny said, do you think there is a limit to what the Wings will spend on him? With Z and Mule both FA's next year, overspending on Flip might chew up alot of cap space. Im just worried about not having enough in the end to keep all three key guys.

I heard close to 3 mil.
