Or better yet, have Chelios score right after the sissy chant. That was by far the best moment of the last game I went to.

I'll be there tonight. 103, wearing my good ol' Stevie Y jersey. WIngs need to take the crowd out of this game. Score early and often and don't let Nashville gain the momentum. Wings 6 (Zetterberg 2, Homstrom, Lidstrom, Cleary, Stuart) Preds 1 (A-Rad)

Sounds like it was pushed back for TV scheduling.

What I want to know is why Trotz seemed so suprised and outraged when Homer does that. You'd think that playing against him 6-8 times a year for the last 9 years would have given you some indication that he likes to sit in front of the net. Second, the goal was clean, period. Homer was not in the crease, he was not impeding Ellis's ability to play the puck, he was doing what he always does, and he's doing it legally. If you don't like it, put a body on him. The goal that got called back was a legitimate gripe IMO. Still that's not the reason Nashville lost. I've honestly never heard the level of complaining here this bad before. Instead of blaming the refs, blame your scoring line for taking dumb penalties late in the game. Blame your captain for taking one shot in two games. And stop acting like you're theonly team in NHL history thats ever been screwed over by the refs.

Because I don't live in the sticks. I live in Williamson County, where the only sticks are in the wooden interiors of the Cadillacs and Jaguars driven by about half the population (or so it seems). I don't like these stereotypes because alot of them come from people who have never stepped foot inside the state. I'm not saying there aren't places that scare the bejesus out of me, cause there are, alot of them. But there are some really nice places here too. Maybe if people actually held an open mind they might realize that.

You've obviously never been to Williamson County.

Well if you want PredFX's advice... Alot of pubs and music clubs on Broadway if you want to throw down a few before or after the game. Any one of those is good, but like Probert said, you might have a couple encounters with some rogue Preds fans-more so after the game. The Hilton Sports Grill (formerly Eddie's) is always extremely crowded before the game, so either go early or wait til after. Rippy's is terrible, service is slow and the food is nothing special. There is a Sbarro and a Quiznos on Commerce, within walking distance to the arena (next to the CMT building). Also, if anyone is around for breakfast, Pancake Pantry on West End (near the Vanderbilt campus) is a must try. It is a little pricy, but the food is absolutely worth it.

And yeah, this whole Redneck/White trash thing is getting extremely old. Remember, there are alot of places in Michigan that aren't exactly out of the backwoods.

FireCaptain, A little off subject, but where exactly is Atoka? Just wondering because I've lived here close to 14 years now and that's the first time I've heard of it.

I'm just waiting til Game 3

We have the Lions. We're used to stuff like this.

Where are you hearing this? Every prediction I've seen has Detroit winning in no more than 6.

Again, that shouldn't be on this forum unless its Photoshopped.

Well there all possible. But as far as most likely, I'd pick Philly over Washington (again just an upset based on seeding). And this may suprise some people, but I like Dallas over Anaheim.

I'm just gonna do this the easy way. Here are the people who AS OF NOW should have their jersey retired. Anaheim: Selanne Buffalo: Hasek (maybe) Calgary: Iginla Carolina: Brind' Amour Colorado: Sakic Forsberg Foote Dallas: Modano Lehtinen Detroit: Lidstrom Edmonton: Lowe Los Angeles: Blake Montreal: Koivu (maybe) Roy (maybe) New Jersey: Brodeur Ottawa: Alfredsson Philadelphia: LeClair Lindros (maybe) Toronto: Sundin Vancouver: Linden (maybe) Naslund (maybe) Washington: Kolzig Bondra (maybe)

Quick question. Why is Tootoo in a Sharks jersey?

I think we'll be just fine. The press obviously does not know what goes on the locker room. Last year Hull gave Datsyuk a 0% chance of being back in Detroit. He resigned with the team long-term and probably gave up alot of money from another club in the process. We were supposed to lose in the first round to a red-hot Calgary club that had the defense and the goaltending to make a stanley cup run. We scored 5+ on them 3 games during that series. We were supposed to get demolished by a San Jose team that was supposed to manhandle a smaller, weaker Wings squad. We move on, and our weak defense is the reason for it. Now they say we won't get far because a.) we lack depth (more 20 goal scorers than any other team) and b.) our goaltending is questionable (both guys are in the top 5 for GAA over the past two years) I really wouldn't take what the press says to heart.

I know there's no official criteria, but if you look at the resume of the players already up there, Fedorov just doesnt match up. All of those guys had played all or most of their careers in Detroit, and if they left, they were either cut or traded. If you think Delvecchio or Lindsay would have sat out half a season to pick up some extra dough, then by all means throw 91 up there. The six players up there are up there because they put the team before themselves. If you think Fedorov did that, then we must be talking about another Fedorov.
-
Big difference. Those two stayed/returned. When you look at the Red Wing jerseys that are already retired, Fedorov doesn't match that criteria. If you went by some of the teams in the league, Luc Robitaille would have his jersey up there.
-
1. Laraque 2. Boogard 3. Brashear 4. Hordichuk 5. Riley Cote
-
To me, a player has to have more than just a statistical impact on a team in order to have his jersey retired. To me, Fedorov didn't have that impact. Fedorov abandoned the team twice in his career in order to help himself out. Maybe I'm wrong, but to me, putting his jersey up there would be an insult to 1, 7, 9, 10, 12 & 19.

I'd say Lidstrom would probably be the only one on the Wings list.
