According to AHL.com, Howard just got recalled. Perhaps this could last a bit longer than just one start.

Yeah I watch ATR everyday. Cowlishaw gets ragged all the time because he keeps talking about hockey. Basically he gets ragged on because he's the only sports writer on there that actually knows something other than Baseball, Basketball, or Football. PTI actually does talk about hockey from time to time, and they actually know their stuff pretty well. Wilbon and Kornheiser are much more respected sports writers though. Like I've said before, Bettman kinda had a cold break from ESPN and I think it it pissed them off a little. That may be a big reason they've limited their coverage. But I think it would be cool for them to put NHL 2Nite back on at least once a week. It is still a major sport and they would gain back alot of viewers.

Detroit has had trouble against the central this year, but Chicago is too depleted, against a Wings squad that is starting to get healthy again. It definitely worked last game. NHL came up with its highest-rated regular season game since 2001. It's definitely something people will tune in to see, and especially amongst those earlier Bowl games, you have a chance to draw in a pretty good crowd.

Wrong again. Tootoo has been in Trotz's doghouse alot over his time in Nashville. He spent a great deal of time in the minors a few years back after Trotz thought he wasn't playing smart. He was benched last year for a while to after the same thing. Trotz has played him this year because his game has improved. He's already got a career high in all of his major offensive categories. Trust me, Trotz is not afraid to bench one of his players. Ask Ryan Suter or Marek Zidlicky

I never remember seeing Kariya paired with Tootoo. Kariya was always with Legwand and Erat. Nichol played on the line briefly when Erat was hurt and both Radulov and Peverley had some time with Kariya, but Tootoo was never on a regular line with him. My original response was about people immediately dropping the gloves in retalliation. Tootoo always seems to get nailed immediately after a big hit, even if its clean. Mayers clobbered him from behind after a whistle. Carcillo actually stopped, then skated back and closelined him after a hit. Adam Foote grabbed him by his neck and pummeled him. Its kinda hard to give people respect during fights when you keep getting blindsided whenever you touch a guy. Interesting note, Tootoo has been in 6 fights. In 3 of them, the guy he was fighting picked up an instigator, so I don't know about the fair start comment.

First off, I'm a Nashville fan, and your claim is actually the other way around. Most of them are pure-hockey lovers, many of my friends and people I meet at games are that way. There are a few people that are in it just for blood, but there's people like that in every NHL city. I'm sure there were a bunch of people in Vancouver that got pumped from watching Bertuzzi pummel Moore and I'm sure a bunch of people on the Island were happy seeing Simon slash Hollweg. Don't single out one city or group of fans.

To me it looked like Jordin was coming in from the side and was trying to cut of Miller at the board. It looked like Miller looked up and just kinda braced himself. The aftermath didn't look like anything provoked either. It looked liked they were both talking and Tootoo just hauled off and hit him.

I wouldn't call that boarding. I've seen more obvious not get called.

Haven't seen the play, so I can't really comment on that. To me though, it sounds like JT was frustrated and he lost his cool. Looking at the boxscore, it looks like there was a pretty big brawl that followed shortly after that, so I wonder if his hit had anything to do with that. Like I said before, Tootoo plays with alot of intensity. Sometimes that's a good thing, sometimes thats a bad thing. If he ever learns to control his emotion, he could have a solid career.
