What do you suppose they do then? Keep the Pistons in AH? They can't build 2 new downtown arenas

-Wings win the division...Preds finish 2nd -Wings will have at least 4 players with 30+ goals this season. -At some point this season, we see Brendan Smith play an NHL game. -Washington, Boston, and Pittsburgh win their respective Eastern Divisions -By the end of the year, Jonathan Bernier will be the Kings starting goaltender, and Thomas Greiss will start for San Jose -Blackhawks will make the playoffs, but will go home in the first round.

He hasn't had an injury-free season since 2003. NO. THANK. YOU.

On the Ice...One of the most hardcore, determined, meanest, don't give a f*** players you'll ever see take the ice. Off the Ice...One of the classiest, down-to-Earth, gentlemanly human beings you'll ever meet. RIP Probie...You will ALWAYS be in our hearts

And why we're winning....

They still have ALOT of questions to answer before anyone can legitimately think of them as a contender. Secondary scoring has still been an issue. Defense still has some holes in it, and Ellis has still not proven he can become a franchise goaltender.
-
He'd go to the KHL before he'd sign as a backup anywhere. Interesting to know if that had anything to do with him not signing in Philly
-
Yes. Because it would give us the Cap Space to sign Kovalchuk and half of the Blackhawks roster at a 60% discount.
-
Because every single underachieving player in the NHL will instantly become the "next Dan Cleary" if they come to Detroit....
-
Basically it goes back to him saying the Wings were the only NHL team he wanted to play for if he ever left Russia. So some weird stipulation in the contract says the Wings couldn't trade him for a certain period of time after he signed. So basically he wanted to make sure he didn't come back and immediately get traded for cap-room or any other reason.
-
He'll be making WAAAAAYYY more than 2 million next season.
-
The salary he's asking for must be way higher than alot of teams anticipated. You don't give up another former First Rounder (Ryan Parent) for his rights if you don't think you can make a deal happen. Obviously something made Philly realize there was no way a deal was gonna happen
-
We can't trade Hudler. It was one of the stipulations of his arbitration
-
Just like we saw a few years ago. Preds finally look like a team who are a few pieces away from being a serious competitor.....And they tear the team apart.
-
If he signed for it on NHL 10 then it must happen in real life........
-
It's not like he was a God-awful player. Everyone knew what he could do when we signed him. He just never really fit into the system here. And with the team circumstances at the time of the trade, we couldn't afford to be patient with him. I think a change of scenery is exactly what he needed. And hopefully he'll continue to be consistent next year
-
To me, we're just too crowded in the bottom six to keep both Eaves and Miller, especially with A.) Abdelkader up full time next year, B.) Kenny's desire to add someone else to the bottom six and C.) Have a more offensive 3rd Line. Miller really did find a niche here and he played some quality minutes. But I also think there might be a better piece out there moving forward

For the record, here are the defensemen that will make more than Lidstrom next season... Chris Pronger: 7.6 m Zdeno Chara: 7.5m Brian Campbell: 7.14m Dion Phaneuf: 7m Dan Boyle: 6.67m Jay Bouwmeester: 6.6m Wade Redden: 6.5m Are you honestly telling me every single one of those players is better than Lidstrom?
-
Bottom line: We're lucky to have him back AT ALL. However, were even LUCKIER that Lidstrom is the type of player that is willing to win at all costs. That is why he signed for less. Name any other player in the game today that would have taken a 1.3 million dollar paycut so his team could have extra cap-space to sign someone else...... Are you serious? He's going to go down as one of the greatest defensemen in all time league history and you think he doesn't deserve his salary because of one bad year? If you hadn't noticed, the whole team underperformed this year. Lidstrom is still one of the best defensemen in the game, and he should get paid for it imo.

Fighting=Winning. Which is why Calgary and Tampa Bay play for the Stanley Cup every year.......
-
Best: Detroit 2nd: Buffalo/Chicago/Nashville Worst:
-
Story Well.............that was quick
-
He wouldn't be the worst guy out there. And if we lose somebody like Miller/Eaves, I could see him here as a 4th line depth guy and a PK specialist. That being said, I would love to see someone with a little bit more of a scoring touch.

I think everyone's reading a little too much into this whole thing.
