Supposedly Nashville is working on a long-term extension for Dumont.
-
I'm having a good laugh because you think you know me, but thats cool too. I'm dropping this subject. I have my opinion and you have yours. And whether you like his style of play or not, I still maintain my original argument that he would be a great fit for us.
-
Are you ******* blind? Lemieux was skating by, stick on the ice, not even looking at McCarty. McCarty clocked him, glove still on, and then pounded him into the ice! The only difference is Lemieux didn't get his neck broken on the play. I'm not trying to justify what Bertuzzi did, I'm trying to point out that calling it retribution doesn't make any less of a cheap shot.
-
The second one yeah, but I saw nothing wrong with the first one. It was him finishing a big hit. It was clean. Basically now were just starting a Giants/Packers and Chargers/Patriots situation where everyone calls everyone else dirty. Maybe we should take a page out of Strahan's book. Hockey is a dirty game, bodies flying everywhere, lots of hitting and fighting. Are you really gonna be fond of a guy that just flattened you like that? I know about his general perception, and there's nothing I can say or do to change that. But for someone like me who's been watching the Predators since their inception, I know he's not some guy that does nothing but going around trying to injure guys.
-
That instance aside, what other "cheapshot" has Tootoo committed?
-
I was comparing Tootoo's hit on Robidas to McCarty's hit on Lemieux.
-
Why? It looks like the same situation. Lemieux was just skating by, not looking for a fight, and McCarty clocks him with his glove on. Looks like the same play to me.
-
If you hate that kind of play, then you'd definitely hate this play.
-
Watch the tape, if he didn't do anything, he would have been on that stretcher instead of Robidas.
-
Thhe best part about that? Avery and Walker both received roughing penalties... ....before the game started.

As the Nashville resident, I guess I'll stick up for Tootoo here. And again, I'll start by clarifying the fact that Tootoo is not a dirty player. I can only think of one incident that really would be considered dirty, and that was all the way back in 04. He personally apologized to that player afterwards. Toots doesn't "cheapshot" people, his hits are monster and devastating, but they are clean. What other teams hate about him is he'll hit anyone, enforcer or finese guy. Teams might not like it, but guess what, that's hockey. Who's to clarify what's dirty or not? We consider Tootoo dirty, Nashville considers Holmstrom and Draper dirty. It's all a matter of perspective. Tootoo may be one of the NHL's hardest working players. He gives it his all on every shift, he fights for loose pucks, goes strong to the net, and gets other people off his game. Off the ice, he is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet, a real down to earth guy. Personally I'd love to see him a Wings uniform, but I doubt Nashville will be looking to trade him.
-
I can see him used as trade bait in order to reaquire Kyle Calder.
-
If you're talking about human-mascots, It kinda hard fitting a guy into a big fuzzy octopus costume.
-
It will occur tonight at the stroke of 7 on the medium formerly known as the Outdoor Life Network.
-
He's still one of our best penalty-killers (when he's used) and one of the best hitters we have on our team. He brings a great physical aspect that helps keep us balanced.
-
To his credit, I don't think Lebda was anticipating a fight.
-
Still trying to find a video of this. In tonight's Pittsburgh-Philly game, Steve Downie got leveled into the boards by Georges Laraque. Downie was very slow getting up, and he did not return to the game. Laraque got 5 and a game misconduct. I don't like seeing people get hurt like this. But for everything that Downie has done over his career, maybe its time he got what was coming to him.
-
Sad to say I wouldn't be suprised.
-
Yeah, the Ducks sent a big message. I think it said "Winning?! No one cares about winning. We just like watching our guy beat up a guy 7 inches smaller than he is. And Parros has an awesome moustache so take that!" If only that somehow factors into the standings. Just imagine, the playoff seeding decided on who has the most moral victories.
-
Well, I guess the title kinda explains itself. Daniel Alfredsson factored in on 7 of the Sens 8 goals (Hat Trick and 4 Assists) in their win over Tampa Bay. One of the NHL's best performances in recent memory.
-
It would certainly give them some depth. Naslund has really suffered without Morrison. Forsberg would be a great playmaker to compliment him until he gets back. Plus, Foppa can be used both as a Center and a Wing, so they can put Sundin on that top-line if they get him as well.
-
Kopy is developing into a solid power forward. Still, I don't see him gaining any huge increase in PT unless someone gets hurt or he REALLY gets hot.
-
Nothing but draft picks for Sundin. Giving up a player like Kronwall just isn't worth an aging veteran who has all but guaranteed he will be back with Toronto next year. If this turns out to be a bust, this can turn out to be one of the worst trades in NHL history.

How in the hell did Phoenix and Columbus get an A???? Yeah, I think he was too generous with alot of teams, and not generous enough with others. Here's my two cents... Anaheim: A-, they were a little below expectations at the start, but since they got healthy and have played awesome hockey lately Calgary: B, not enough depth to carry them deep Chicago: B-, hot start in the first half, but not experienced enough to take them on a long run Columbus: C+, they still have a long way to go Colorado: B, injuries are the only thing holding them back Dallas: A, the best team in the West outside Detroit Detroit: A+, the best team in the West including Detroit Edmonton: C-, injuries killed an otherwise promising season Los Angeles: D-, the confidence just isn't there Minnesota: A-, possibly the best all-around defensive team in the NHL Nashville: B-, amazing one game, terrible the next. Starting to become more consistent. Give Trotz credit for what he's had to work with Phoenix: B-, slowly but surely, that rebuilding is paying off St. louis: B+, they once again have a team that can challenge Detroit San Jose: B+, Need their role players to step up Vancouver: B+, offense has been inconsitent without Morrison
